- This is the Guillow's 500 series (16.5" Span) Bf 109. I replaced almost all of the wood with light contest balsa. As well, I reduced the thickness of the frames and bulkheads.
Span: 41.9 cm
Weight: 19.8g (without rubber)
I've never seen a Guillow's model fly that well or look that good!
Nicely done! Built this kit when I was a kid in the '70's, and you have done a much better job, of course! :)
Flies better than most rc airplanes. 👍
Looks great and flies nicely
Nice work! And nice flight!
I have this kit framed up practically dead stock from the kit, but uncovered. I should finish it up and take it to the top of the Sears Tower. It should take about as long to plummet to earth.
Nice plane!
Love the chalk idea
excellent video!
Love your work!
Amazing
Looks beautiful. After you apply the chalk, do you seal it with some overcoat?
Thanks. I don't seal it to save weight- it pretty well stays put but I can't get it wet.
@@scaleflight Thanks for the quick response. I've heard about using chalks to color models and have seen some beautiful colored models, but I wondered how it stays on the tissue and if there are issues with moisture, like early morning dew.

Most people chalk just the inside of the tissue. This probably wouldn't have an issue with moisture. As well, the rich color really come out when you put acrylic spray (like Krylon) on the outside. With untreated chalk, water will just take the chalk off directly, although it is not difficult to brush more on.
