Ehh unlikely. On the PS4 version, there is no cut content in the game files. I have modified the game to unlock all the items and haven't discovered any cut content sadly.
The only mention of cut content is in the text files, never any assets.
Though, I have heard the retro stadium asset is in the Switch version but that's not exactly cut content.
I miss when it was the current Crash game rather than Crash 4. So much has changed.
For real, it was a great time to be a Crash fan. Every new grand prix wondering which characters would join the roster, experiencing those brand new tracks for the first time, waiting for that CTRTV video announcement. One of the best Crash Bandicoot experiences ever!
What I don’t get even today is how we don’t get “Caveman Fake Crash”, the model already exist in Prehistoric Playground.
True I would've loved for him to get that Skin, felt like a missed opportunity, especially the Beenox Update which would've been perfect to add that Skin.
I miss this game so much. I hope Beenox is given a chance to make a sequel

@@TheRandomLoreCollector Indeed. I absolutely loved the Grand Prix but they burned all that content hard and too fast. Some downtime between each one would have lenghtened the life span of the game greatly. I even missed two in the middle because I needed some downtime from all the racing every day weeks on end.
An edition where you can get all the content through 3 or 4 campaigns with unlockables.
It's still playable, what's to miss?
I have another theory on Papu skin:
Considering it's a Japanese inspired skin, tattoos in Japan usually mean connection to Yakuza, to the point that if you have unrelated tattoos, people would still be very cautious of you, but especially tattoos like that skin has, wide, depicting dragons, covering large parts of skin. Crash has a pretty large Japanese fanbase, including kids, so that might've made them more cautious of that and remove it altogether as a result.

This theory holds up a lot more water than the whole racial backlash thing, like I know the Tawna skin raised some eyebrows... but a Sumo Wrestler isn't exactly offensive... but a Sumo Wrestler tied to the Japanese Yakuza will raise some eyebrows of concern.

Throwing the whole skin out because of one small element doesn't make sense. I still stand by the culture aspect, but the tattoos being related to Yakuza could have been an after thought as well

Yikes, yeah, Yakuza is Japan's cloak and dagger, working with the government to collect debts, do covert action, and sometimes just literal crime that the police and Military could never get away with.
Hopefully If Wumpa League ever get made, some of these skins can be saved and retooled.

Like, I was pissed about the different direction with Crash 4 because Nitro-Fueled had SOOOO many models and rigs already created; I really, really hope that those return if there's a multiplayer game coming out. Even if it's just the characters rather than the skins, I'd still be happy because so many characters were added.

First, Ripto, the Sorceress and Willie Wumpa Cheeks were cut from the original datamine file for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, but now Titans Coco skin and Sumo Papu Papu skin were cut from Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled as well???

That Crash Of The Titans Coco skin was so cute/cool looking, I love Coco’s design in Crash Of The Titans so that skin would’ve been cool to see. It’s such a shame that I got cut.
I agree, I've always wanted to play as Coco like that ever since I saw her in the Crash titans games. But sadly I had a PS2 so I couldn't play as her in that version of Mind over mutant.
That's gutting that Sumo Papu Papu wasn't included, understandable though given that the developers wouldn't want any racial backlash.
Given that the events of the first game are set on N. Sanity Island which according to the lore of the games, is close to the Australian state of Tasmania, I'd say he's probably based more off the Australian Aboriginal people, rather than the New Zealand Maori people.
Another reason I say this, is because there is concept art for a Maori inspired Papu Papu variation which would have been intended for Crash 4, alongside a Tiki Techno variant.
As for Coco, that's cool, but I don't really feel hard done by missing out on that.

Or we could just say if you’re not OK with the cultural embrace of certain cultures by people who are racially not typically associated with that culture but you were ever OK with Asian characters being portrayed is anything that would be depicted as European or white or American since that’s mostly white. If you were OK with one and not the other or even see where someone’s coming from but not the other way around, do you have a double standard for race. Anyone who has a double standard for race I consider a racist. How about we all agree anybody is allowed to dress any way regardless of skin color and if you disagree with that you are a racist. Unless you think Black people should all dress like they’re from Africa and all east Asian people should all dress likes they’re from Japan or China. Because last time I checked you were not genetically predisposed to dressing a certain way due to your race. So why would it be bad for white people to be portrayed with dreads or Hispanic people to be portrayed with a Japanese hairstyle? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the skin or anything similar to it and anybody who thinks it is a bad person. Not someone I just disagree with, they are a bad person. It probably wasn’t an issue with the watermelon thing because IM so caught up with crash bandicoot and subscribe to every channel and subscribe to every political cultural channel that covers anything controversial about race. I’m not saying there weren’t some people trying to complain about the Tanya skin being called watermelon, but I’m just saying that was such a small minority that didn’t even have any form of reach, even if their team did change the name.

But I think the studio was pre-emptive and completely misunderstanding of what is offensive when they renamed Tawna's "Watermelon Tawna" to "Summer Time Tawna." Honestly the rename kinda implied some things more than the original skin name.
If you think people are shit for wanting others to respect their cultures, you're better off dead.
If they really wanted another Papu Papu skin, personally, I would have gone with a realisation of his Mr. Bad Belly wrestling character as mentioned in CTR's ending where it goes through what the cast did next.
For sure i would like to see these skins ingame. But also i really don't mind if CTR get a revive for new grand prix and maybe even adding the storymode from CNK as well
The game is three years old soon, and the playerbase ahas shrunken greatly. Wouldn't make much sense to take staff from other projects to add content to CTR.
The Crate and Lab Assistant got a lot of potential for more skins too. Im also upset that they didn't include Willie Wumpa Cheeks and other characters from the Trilogy like Monster Brio or the Wild Hog among others
I always wanted a Nitro Kart skin for Coco so it’s a shame that there was a skin that was pretty close to it that got cut. Makes me wonder what other skins were cut
Well, man...
Titans Coco, aside from her strangely misshapen head, was always one of my favorite designs of her. It gave off a teenager vibe and acted as a form of character progression, where Crash was designed to look more like a late 20 or early 30-something compared to his more 18-20 looking design from Naughty Dog.
Hopefully, we can get a game soon that incorporates some of these cut skins and some of the ones from Nitro Fueled, as that always was the most fun thing for me-- collecting skins.
True I also enjoyed collecting the Skins and Customization Items in CTR Nitro Fueled.
I really hope that CTR2 is in development and that will be playable on PS4 or 5

You forgot to mention the Sumo Papu skin appeared in a magazine back in 2019
i think Titans Coco was cut because skins with new models have new win animations as well and what Coco's animations would be? At least there is a theme for brainwashed Coco and Crunch so they were added as a reference to Mind over Mutant.
Sumo papu papu looks awesome! He really fits that whole aesthetic. The blue nappy is genius too I think!
One other thing I want to point out cge remember when betam November or December datamine of ctrnf there was January February march April and may we got 2 grand prix from January and February then we had one last content drop in March but nothing in April and may so taking that into consideration it is possible that Coco skin was part of a titans themed Grand Prix that was unfortunately cut because beenox had work on it's about time and it's also highly possible that the pandemic which was gaining traction also had a hand in the cut content
Now as far the sumo papu papu I find it hard to believe that beenox would scrap the skin go avoid tension with Japan one thing you must know is crash bandicoot is wildly popular in Japan

ActiVision told them to stop working on CTR before they could finish the game. There were a few more Grand Prixs planned so that is where these skins would have been distributed at. That is why they are in the files. More unreleased than cut.
You know what this reminds me of? Robots. There was a lot of scenes that were ready to go, but, they were removed during post-production.
I would agree with you for Papu Papu, but he was actually shown in a magazine article before the game even released, it even showed Penta Ninja looking more like the Crash Tag Team Racing Ninja Penguins, rather than the one we got in the final build. So Papu Papu's skin was cut for some other reason. As for Titans Coco, I wonder if since they planned on doing N.V. Coco and N.V. Crunch, they decided to just not use her Titans appearance. Or if that appearance was the datamined "60's Coco" since her Titans design loosely looks based off hippies. But her hair and shirt on the Beach skin look similar so it could have just been reusing assets and then choosing between the two

To this day that watermelon Tawna controversy will forever be stupid to me. Game devs can't do anything these days without people getting mad. Reminds me of the Sombrero Mario controversy.
Coco's crash of the titans design costume was probably cut due to the fact that coco had too many costume alts already they probably didn't want Coco to out do her brother in the costume department that and titans crash suit never even made the cut.
With Tawna, it annoyed me they took out her pink paint. It’s one of the better paints in the game, and they kept in hidden for most of the Grand Prix. I wanted the paint, the original Grand Prix with nitro girls was excellent i remember how busy the online lobby were
Why those two was taken down? Easy, NDA. Yes, game was released long time ago, but usually NDA has paragraph about "Whatever is not publicly announced or released considered confidential"
So, all scrapped skins still confidential, depending on NDA lifespan. It could be 5 years or 25 years, or anything else.
I can definitely see why Sumo Papu Papu was cut. As for Titans Coco, I would say it was probably due to not wanting to exclude Crash's and Crunch's Titans designs and that she was scrapped in favor of Beach Coco.
Watermelon tawan doesn't seem rasict to me. But I do wish we got these skins. But my head canon on why they were removed was because maybe there going to update ctr again.
I bet Coco is someone's favorite at Beenox given the fact she got legendary skins more than anyone else , even Crash himself .
If they were smart. They would update nitro-fueled with purchasable DLC.
Maybe they saving them for a PC Port that was rumored a few years back. Afterall they are own by Microsoft so maybe port them to PC so we can get more DLC costumes AND more characters that were datamined until they too were cut.
Now Microsoft owns the Crash games the devs at Beenox can provide a 4K update for CTR:NF + add new content. Fingers crossed!

i actually liked titans coco despite how weird she looked, but i have to admit she looks even weirder with her smaller sized design in new crash.
i dont think crash and coco ages have ever been stated, but ps2 era coco certainly had the teenager gal look, while crash had the delinquent/geeky one. crunch was badass on his debut then got quickly changed to a mr t rip off lol
It could've been also for the CotT Coco being scrapped for possible backlash from the mutated Coco and Crunch skins from MoM that were dropped in the Spyro update.
These skins look cool. I think that if CTR were to continue past the Gasmoxia gran pix, then we would have gotten a Japanese themed character skins. I hope these skins will be put in future Crash games.
We could have also gotten some Crash 4 content in the game. Though come to think of it, it might be difficult to do so because of the different art styles

They need to patch this game to 4k 60fps because it's so unsettling when the frame rate is changing constantly from 30fps and 45fps during the race. I'm playing this on the PS5.

They probably cut Sumo Papu for racial sensitivity reasons. As for Titans Coco, they may have thought it was too similar to what was already in the game and opted to make Mind Over Mutant Coco in its place. Although, I am not sure where this cut skin fits into CTR NFs production timeline.
I would have liked to see Mutants era Crash, Coco, and Carbon Crash.

I think CGE forgot to mention that the cut outfit is a slight nod to Coco in TTR because that was the first time she had her Star T-Shirt. Meaning if you remove the bandanna, you’d have TTR Coco.
Titan and Beach Coco share the same shirt asset as well. Seeing them side by side, the midriff and sleaves are the same length, it's just colored differently. I think it was a redesign.
I personally say if there is anything i'd hope i can see is the the lab assistant having a conductor skin,albeit it doesn't exist in the game in any way but the lumberjack skin already gave me strong feels for it might have a slight dim chance to be thrown to, i can already imagine his victory referencing the polar express scene "WE MADE IT! WITH FIVE MINUTES TO SPARE! WE MADE IT! HA!"
It’s possible that chunks of content (skins, vehicles, battle arenas, stickers, etc.), that were as far into production as Titans Coco, were at some point selected and reserved for a sequel to CTR Nitro-Fueled. As Nitro-Fueled was very well received in 2019, Activision was likely inclined to make another lucrative game. If they dumped everything they could into Nitro-Fueled, there wouldn’t be much new content in its successor, should they get and take the opportunity to make a sequel.

Yeah... the fact that the artist had to take these unreleased images down even though the game is finished is making me raise my eyebrow about it. Why would the artist take them down? Like... I know there's probably a contract obligation to not post them online, but Beenox hasn't updated Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled since 2020 shortly after the pandemic hit the states.... so everyone thought that Beenox was done and moved on to other projects right? It would've been fine to have the skins out and say "Oh this was just concept work for some skin ideas"
It might be nothing, but it can't hurt to keep an eye on it.... plus... Beenox has been relatively quiet the past year or so... It could be that (alleged) Spyro game but again....we'll have to wait and see.

Funny thing is when Titans and Mind Over Mutant came out I hated the designs for the characters but now that I’m older they actually grew on me and now I really like them so I would have loved to see Titans Crash, Crunch and Coco as skins in the game

Bit late but have a theory about the gem challenges in the Nitro Fueled story mode. When the game first released, there was disappointment at how completing the gem challenges only unlocked a generic palette swap for the boss characters. I get the impression that they only did that because they cut the sumo skin last minute, leaving Papu Papu as the only one without a legendary skin at launch and they wanted to keep the rewards consistent.
Man I was waiting for CGE to discuss this recently found cut content for CTR Nitro Fueled, we already knew about Sumo Papu, which was a bit of a shame, cause he could've used more skins and Titans Coco, that's a huge unknown, that no one knew about and makes me wonder if they planned the skin for around launch in place of the Beach Coco skin or was planned for one of the Grand Prix's....

About Papu Papu skin with respect to your opinion I have to say I disagree with you because some Sumo not exclusive to Japanese. It may due not fit the Grand prix theme and then scrapped with many skins. I believe there maybe other skins scrapped as well along and what you’ve seen is ideas. About Coco in my opinion they may planning to do a COT event but because lack of time they remodeled her to beach Coco.
the watermelon tawna one was such a reach lmao. im latino and that tawna is even more lighter than most of us. its her fur even LMAO if anything id say her fur makes her looks furless since its so peach colored
I was hoping back when they was doing the monthly updates that during the spyro event they would of added elora from the reignited trilogy.
What!? That's terrible! I love the Coco Titans skin. Why this was a skin I've been requesting ever since CTR announced skins. And they just had to cut that and replace it with a posessed mutant version of her? This is so stupid and unfair! I've been requesting a Coco skin like that for a long while and they decided not to make it official! Man those guys at Beenox really had me steamed. I sure hope they'll make a star shirt and jeans skin for Coco someday in a future Crash game. Cause I've always wanted to play as Coco wearing that ever since.

I would literally pay $100 a month for a Grand Prix update for this game. Especially to get bash tank, warped motorcycle, competitive mode and pre sets for karts depending on the track. Don’t even get me started on hub worlds and cut scenes for nitro cart…

This game died about a week from launch, it's great for hard-core fans who played the original loads, but boosting & turning corners is a nightmare for casual players. This game would have been far more commercially successful if the controls handled more like Mario Kart

They did scrap the skin which is a Japanese traditional wrester for Papu Papu, because the members do think it is quite unsure about upsetting the people, The skin for Coco Bandicoot has changed from The Crash Of The Titans design into The Beach design. The names are changed from the old to the new in updates to let them never show people to read before being offended, The Beenox Developers has been scrapping and changing names of the skins, each time if they do react. The truth is The Beenox Developers decided to cut out the sumo wrestler skin for Papu Papu and the Coco Bandicoot's clothing from Crash Of The Titans has been scrapped and reused the look onto Coco Bandicoot's beach outfit.
Sumo Papu Papu reminds me of Ganryu from Tekken series.
Also remember when Beenox gave Coco so many skins? They left a lot of characters out with no skins 😆
