Lost my mk4 R32 to a deer a little bit back, replaced it with a mk6 R. Nothing wrong with the R, it will just never be as fun, as aggressive, as in your face and dominant as the mk4 R32. The deep throaty sound of the 3.2 vr6 demands attention as it rolls down the road and the car stands out slightly more than other golfs because of the oem body kits. Truly my most favorite car I've own hands down.
I’m in my Ford Explorer and decided to copy his acceleration pattern on the test drive while my windows were down and this on with the volume at max ………. R32 swapped Ford Explorer !!!!!! Anything is possible these days. It turned heads
That's a boatload of issues to address, but... The sound of that exhaust makes it all melt away... until the check engine light pops on and you get dumped on the side of the road. But seriously, I love the sound of that exhaust!
Awesome video as always, Charles! I have a 2003 GTI 1.8t so I'm looking forward to seeing how you address some of these same issues that I am experiencing.
I meant "for the most part" because if I'm not mistaken, the majority of the mk4 generation of Volkswagens were assembled in Mexico. I realize that there are plants in other areas of the world besides the Mexico plant, such as Brazil and Wolfsburg germany.. Among others. But I don't think what I said was incorrect? Someone please clarify whether or not the majority of mk4s were assembled in mexico?
PHILTHY9FIFTY ♫ OFFICIAL You weren’t wrong, although you made it sound like they were not well made if assembled in Mexico.. Regardless of location that the car is made, every vehicle still uses the same oem part number.
Thanks Charles! This was exactly what I meant when you asked 'what to do in next video'!! And that sound... man... we call it EARGASM lol... goosebumps all over.. I love it :) Enjoy your R32, and we will watch your vids fixing your issues! By the way Charles, Im wishing you a lot of smiles per gallon and a lot of save miles with your R32
In the 2 years I've owned mine, routine maintenance has been the name of the game. After all, it's 14 years old! Front left axle, oil pump, starter, coolant flange (Eurowise), secondary coolant pump, and heater core have been the biggies. I'm just glad my interior integrity is holding up so well. Looking forward to the vids! - Joe
Wanted to come here and give you a huge thank you. I was already thinking about how I would have to travel a bit to get the car I wanted but it was not until I saw this and the other videos in this playlist that I had the actual determination and precedence that it can be done. As of yesterday I now own a '04 DBP R32. I drove 5.5 hours to test drive it then 5.5 hours back. Yesterday I went down and picked it up. I have been watching the videos in this list over and over trying to glean what knowledge I can. In addition, I plan on trying to sign up for your HM Crew Member to try and get even more information. So again, Thanks Charles I appreciate it.
Thanks for watching. This R32 is gonna bring some cool stuff to the channel. Also big shout out to one of my favorite RUclips channels CinemaSins. Don’t be mad at me for copying you. 😂💙
That sweet, sweet sound...I always regretted jumping on my 2003 GTI instead of waiting one more year to get one of these. At the time, I did not even know of its impending existence. Doh!
With so many problems it's a great car for the channel and content. I'll be watching all the upcoming vids as seeing broken stuff get fixed scratches the ocd itch !
R32 owner here. Super excited to see your repairs! Mine is in much better shape but the soft touch rubber is one fix I haven't tackled yet, and I'm thinking about replacing the shifter bushings too. Thanks in advance!
I totally agree, your R32 has been not well loved, which is sad since this IS the king of MK4’s. BUT yours is in good hands now. I look forward to all viewing your restoration and modification work. Thank you for saving this specimen.
78 faults and all of them went away when you turned to the car on and accelerated. I also have the same MK4 R32 as you I have some of the similar faults but when I drive it I don't think about it anymore! Great video and good luck with your new jewel.
"Ding! Ding, ding,! D-D-D-Ding!" I like the new sound effects Charles! Those super sexy dinging noises makes FUBAR'd suspension diagnosis feel like I hit the jackpot!! :P
VR6 is the best sounding engine VW has ever made, possibly one of thee best sounding engines ever made! Top 10 for sure. Put that in a package with, imo, the best looking golf VW has ever made and you truley got yourself a special car. I really want to own one of these someday and I'm not even a fan of European cars. It just looks and sounds so good with a platform built to be modded around the driver.
Geez, glad you like a project and have a lot of energy. Awesome to see an R32 getting the attention it deserves. Both MKIV and MKV R32's are special cars. Well done and good luck.
I wanna see the DIY cuz I had an 03 jetta gli that I had the water transfer pipe replaced on and it would be nice to know what exactly was involved in the job in case something were to happen again.
The MK3 crack pipe video gets you pretty close to the MK4. It's a little different, but not much. I will do a DIY on this one too. Heck I might even powder coats it.
I bumped into you last weekend at Wookies in the woods. I was wondering who you were and why people made a big deal about you. Well, I get it now. Props for keeping an R32 alive and keep up the good work!
These solid control Arm bushings are R32 specific, and they actually fit directly to the MK3 Control Arms, which is a cheap and actually noticeable Upgrade!
This video made me feel good about how well I took care of my MK4 Jetta. It still had some issues, and some of the things you pointed out were issues in mine (Particularly the plastic.) Fortunately, found it a good home.
It's kinda weird that similarly aged cars can have very different conditions with different owners. It seems that the previous owner sipped almost every last drop of blood this poor R32 had. My dad's Ford Focus C-Max from 2005 with 115k kms drives, performs and it's interior feels like it's brand new. Quite mind boggling
A daft punk The reality is that they found slightly worn out lower control arm bushings, but the service guys said that it is not something we should be concerned with. Now that we have new shock absorbers it handles quite precisely for a car of its category.
The perfect car to hold the attention of viewers. Looks like there's plenty of issues to keep the content coming nicely. Looking forward to all the updates and repairs!
Haha! I also flew to NC to pick up my '04 reflex silver R32 as well. Charles, just wanted to give you a great tip that recently helped me out on that interior trim with the rubberized coating (if you are going to repaint them). To help remove the paint, I used a 90% isopropyl alcohol and a stiff nylon brush to remove the residue. Clean and re-clean with same alcohol and terry cloths. I then applied a adhesion promoter and a flat black painters touch paint. My trim now looks good as new, minus the sticky coating.
Owned two of these myself, both blue. Can’t beat the exhaust note and no crazy wing or pull me please styling. My favorite VW of all time. Be sure to showcase the Haldex service and the crazy wrench!
eovdubs VW just unplug the airbag prior to any work you will be fine. Don't let it intimidate you. Also, one way to go about it, if you afraid of the seat going up in flames and the car along with it, just unbolt the seat and get ready so if you gotta give her the ol chuckaroo, you'll be all set! 👍 lol
Subscribed! I'm very excited for this rebuild/refresh series! As an original owner or a MK4 R32 with only 60k miles a lot of these issues exist or have existed on my car. Just typical for the age of the car and VW quality (or lack there of). 2018 will be my refresh year also so if I could ask, please start with the driver's door switch. Mine is acting up also.
Picked up a mk4 .:R a couple of years ago and have slowly been rehabbing it as well :) stoked to see your progress, some of your issues I still have to manage as well so can't wait to see how you do it all! Thanks for great content!
HumbleMechanic lol it’s all good...It must be the frequency of how my iphones speaker produces some sounds because game show like noises also freaks him out but the same noise or video from a different source (tv or another phone) won’t bother him.
I have fixed 80% of these issues, all seem like common r32 issues expect the sweet window tint.. can't wait to see more videos of this wookie! Awesome job
I've always wanted an R32, but I'm not a mechanic, so I'll probably never get one. Thankfully I was able to get two 2013 VW CCs with the 3.6 VR6, so I get the amazing sound (after dropping less than $1k on the exhaust) and modern comfort & convenience. No rust, no creaks, everything works, more loaded than an A6, looks beautiful, and has low mileage. I highly recommend it to anyone instead of an ancient R32, even though I love those rust buckets too.
I have new in the box H&R 20th anniversary blue springs. I think it's a 1-1.5" drop. Give me an address , I could ship them to your old dealership.( These should work on the R)-Is there a weight difference with the haldex?
HumbleMechanic Or... Keep the dings as it helps us people who are a little bit short of attention to know that we're onto a new subject/another thing to do.
Thanks to your show and awesome channel i have fixed up my 1.8t passat and i do not regret buying it and for that i thank you! My car had even more repairs then this r32
Just drives me nuts when people take things off like battery covers and belly pans. Then say the vehicle doesn't need them. Manufacturers do not put parts on that are not needed
Everyone from Backyard mechanics to Body shops are notorious for leaving off belly pans, or at the very least not securing them properly where they make noise or flop around. You practically have to do everything on a car yourself if you want it done right. The only alternative is a dealer with a master mechanics and a fat wallet in your pocket. Personally I’d never trust anyone other than the dealer or myself to do a clutch or timing belt/chain on a VW. You are guaranteed bolts will be put back in the wrong place, or missing, and nothing will be torqued correctly.
Bought the equivalent bushing kit for my mk3 Jetta TDI. Had issues putting the gear shift into 1st gear. The new bushings as well as gear oil did wonders. Along with a lot of other things I did, my dad said it felt as smooth as when he drove it off the dealership lot brand new.
Audi and VW are designed with about a 5-7 year lifespan. Nothing comes close for the money in terms of driving experience. I hate my Japanese daily no comparison.
I picked up a R32 MK5 Model almost 2 years ago and have loved it since. Though I do miss Driving with a 5 Speed on my old GTI. Going threw and watching all your R32 videos and got to say I love the transformation From the state that it was in on this video to the WitW (Wookie in the Woods) Video. ♥
hi, im so excited for your build. Things id like to know is: 1- Tuning the OEM Bosch me7.5 ecu. how to get started and how this is possible!!! Please please this would be a great one. 2- logging with vcds, how to understand what we are seeing as diy mechanics, to safely adjust fueling and injector sizes etc.. 3-what were your results after your compression test?(might have missed that) 4-if you can touch on the long runner intake of the 3.2, and its internal settings
It's already an awesome car and in your capable hands I'm pretty confident it will get all the love it needs over time. Looking forward to the future content with the R32.
I got my mk4 r32 in ibp a month ago and I'm loving every second I drive it, I have to say I paid premium for her so it's rock solid all around, came with a giac tune, short shifter and modified suspension. looking forward on how you fix it
Someone with a MK4 Golf GTI looking forward to see some of your job! Surely I´ll follow your advices on interior and exterior! Something that is driving me crazy is water jets from windshield not working at all (but xenon ones working great) I supose now that I have to change my timing belt shouldn´t be hard to pinpoint the issue! That sound is worth everything btw. Even better than my R33 I would say. Enjoy it!
The R32 reminds me of my first Volkswagen GTI VR6 I had. So many things were wrong with that car but when I drove it I fell in love with the Golf. When I lost that car in an unfortunate road hazard accident I missed it so much that I bought my Golf R.
This car really hasn't been looked after. Probably has the cooling fan/module issue. Thanks for rescuing her, and good luck with the restoration. Best sounding car I've owned. Proof In my video. 👍🏼
Will be checking the progress of your R32 sir, as a VR6 guy myself always happy to see another VR is in great hands.. You cant forget that sound comes mile away... Thats VR6 👊
That is a long list of repairs for that wookie! Excited to see how you get through everything. I've got a project R32 that I've been working on for around 8 months and it's finally in a good spot. Doesn't have a stock exhaust though - I need to find one so I can get my wookie sounds back!
Such a beauty! My dream car since my mk4 1.8t. The only real problem I had that wasn't my fault, was the driver window would sometimes roll up and down a few times on its own, but seemingly only on snowstorms though lol
Hey man I just bought a r32 mk4 2003 and I have very few of the problems you have it could just be user error or maybe I have a very babied car. Cheers good video
Nice you have a Mk4 R32, so do I! Mine right now sits in the driveway because the timing chain is making noises. After I get enough money I'll throw in a new clutch along with the timing chain. Looking forward to all your new videos regarding the r32!
Love your channel and your humble optimism. I'm excited to see you restore this gem of a VW to its factory glory (or better)! I'm also glad to see the B5 Passat (barely) made it into this video as well.
Love this Charles glad you got an R32 always fun to watch your videos So many similar mk4 problems I've dealt with one way or another Can't wait to see the progression
I had 4 of those missing parts laying around my house. the back trim piece for the headliner, the grill of an oem GTI, the flex disc (or guibo) and the cargo shelf. However, a month ago i tossed them because i did not need them. wish I could have helped support the build for you charles!
I had a Audi S3 on the mk4 platform too. Best thing about it was its interior every thing was perfect. But i had most the common 1.8T problems but man did i love it.
You counted the wheels twice, so you can immediately drop the number of problems by four :-D No words to describe the sound of that car, beyond fantastic...
I counted them once for needing refinishing and once for being bent. 2 different repairs if the repairs get made. OR one solution if they get replaced. LOL
I wouldnt mind damage And poor care in a regular golf or GTI but it's a collectible R32! It drives me nuts!!! Man, You have a lot of work to do, but that car is awesome!! Enjoy
The soft rubber on the plastic was totally bad on my MK4. What I did was some acetone to eat that rubber, then fine wet sandpaper, mat black paint and it was perfect! I had it for 5 years and the paint never fainted.
This is just how mine was when I bought it minus most the interior issues you have had. I spent about £2k on maintenance before I even got to enjoy the car. I fitted an exhaust and while under the car I notice more things wrong than what I seen when I checked it before I bought it and test drove it. I noticed in the video your fuel lines were all cracked not sure if you caught this as it wasn't mentioned. Mine were exactly the same I changed mine, the old ones were almost through to the fuel.
Looking forward to the shifter bushing video, I've been wanting to do mine for awhile just cause I've seen a couple of people end up stranded when one of the cables pops off the shifter side due to old bushings.
I would definitely love to see the repairs on this car, I have the MK3 GTI and enjoyed it over the years..........as soon as I can get a MK4 R32 I will......
ALL "classic" Mark IV issues; the interior plastics breakage alone, is so annoying and you are missing quite a few things! Plus, some previous owners; upholstery "refresh" attempts, which do not look professional or up to your high standards! :) Thanks for the complete, "walk around" and I look forward, to the repair videos. My 2002 New Beetle Turbo S with the AWP and 02M six speed, needs many of the same things replaced! The Mark IV problems; are at least consistent and we have all seen them before! I look forward, to learning more about the running gear of the R32 and especially, the AWD, Halidex system! Thanks! :)
Vr6 sound heals everything
^^That, and a second mortgage on your home so as to afford the repair bills!
So you need to replace everything but the engine...LOL
Hahaha. There is a good amount.
Why I turned mine into a track car lol
This is 2021 letting you know you were wrong …. The engine had to be replaced too
I’m in my Ford Explorer and decided to copy his acceleration pattern on the test drive while my windows were down and this on with the volume at max ………. R32 swapped Ford Explorer !!!!!! Anything is possible these days. It turned heads
Lot to repair but the sound of the R32 makes you happy smiling
That's a boatload of issues to address, but...
The sound of that exhaust makes it all melt away... until the check engine light pops on and you get dumped on the side of the road.
But seriously, I love the sound of that exhaust!
@Pat Ball - No doubt. I would love to own a R32 gen 1 or gen 2. But they are horribly overpriced where I live.
Messeresser where do you live? I’m selling my 2008 r32
Welp that acceleration clip made me go look for an r32 for myself now
It’s a fun club.
Awesome video as always, Charles! I have a 2003 GTI 1.8t so I'm looking forward to seeing how you address some of these same issues that I am experiencing.
Charles great video as always!! 👍🏼 I feel your pain! But...nothing beats the symphony of the R32...and VR6!!
Thank you sir :)
Lazaro Carreiro yeah... Kicks in around 3000rpm, no music needed ✌️
Maveric073.
Id say my Volvo S60R 5cylinder turbo comes pretty close! ☺
Daveyg131 oh believe you me, ask me how I know lol.
I don't own a German car but a lot of what your going to repair and replace is universal so this will be a fun project.
wyattoneable we don't own German cars either, for the most part their Mexican cars. German designed. Mexican assembled.
PHILTHY9FIFTY ♫ OFFICIAL except they’re not all made in Mexico. Lol
Or Brazil
PHILTHY9FIFTY ♫ OFFICIAL You weren’t wrong, although you made it sound like they were not well made if assembled in Mexico.. Regardless of location that the car is made, every vehicle still uses the same oem part number.
I want a DIY on everything you do on your R32. It gives me motivation to fix mine !!
Thanks Charles! This was exactly what I meant when you asked 'what to do in next video'!!
And that sound... man... we call it EARGASM lol... goosebumps all over.. I love it :)
Enjoy your R32, and we will watch your vids fixing your issues!
By the way Charles, Im wishing you a lot of smiles per gallon and a lot of save miles with your R32
No shortage of DIY content. Go man go!

You're coming with me next time I want to buy a used car. They'll pay me to take it when you get done.
DEAL! There is actually plenty more things I found. But most are 5min fixes or not worth even talking about. HAH
Lmao
LMAO !! hahahah
Wanted to come here and give you a huge thank you. Awesome awesome awesome.
Thanks for watching. This R32 is gonna bring some cool stuff to the channel.
Also big shout out to one of my favorite RUclips channels CinemaSins. Don’t be mad at me for copying you. 😂💙
Love the R32. I've got a 2017 R and really wish they kept the motor from your car through all the generations going forward.
That would be awesome. But the 2.ot is os capable. LOL
It is but I would trade a little bit of possible power for that sound.
I've got a parcel cover for an 04 gti If you want to pick up the shipping It's yours I'm in Phoenix
Josip Filipović handy to know... Nice one 👍
Yep. Honestly it’s just a handful of real issues. So hopefully we can all benefit from it
R32 owner here. Super excited to see your repairs! Mine is in much better shape but the soft touch rubber is one fix I haven't tackled yet, and I'm thinking about replacing the shifter bushings too. Thanks in advance!
Love the CinemaSins play on this
Thanks. I’m glad you got it. I love those videos.
I rarely watch anything at all but I do put on CinemaSins lol
I totally agree, your R32 has been not well loved, which is sad since this IS the king of MK4’s. BUT yours is in good hands now. I look forward to all viewing your restoration and modification work. Thank you for saving this specimen.

Congratulations Charles! And thanks for telling me why my interior lights do not work all the time :) waiting for the repair video!
No prob. I need to get on the ball with that, but they are $$$. I might take it out and fix it.
Wish you good luck :)
Holy 'project' Charles!
That's a sizable list of repair items.
May the force be with you.
The previous owner did not take care of her properly. This means you have a lot of opportunity to make fixup videos. :-)
Yep that is the plan. It should be an awesome series for the channel and for the community too.
"Ding! Ding, ding,! D-D-D-Ding!"
I like the new sound effects Charles! Those super sexy dinging noises makes FUBAR'd suspension diagnosis feel like I hit the jackpot!! :P

You talking about all these VW problems, most that Ive had myself, was worth the few seconds of wookie calls.
Regardless of the minor issues, that's one rad ride...sounds awesome.
Thanks dude!
Geez, glad you like a project and have a lot of energy. Awesome to see an R32 getting the attention it deserves. Both MKIV and MKV R32's are special cars. Well done and good luck.

Car just sounds Awesome! 😱😱
Gotta love that VR6 growl
Just picked up a mk4 r32 myself. Can’t wait for all the content! Keep it up Charles!
These solid control Arm bushings are R32 specific, and they actually fit directly to the MK3 Control Arms, which is a cheap and actually noticeable Upgrade!
Yep. I have them in my mk3.
ECS has the control arms with poly bushings installed. That would save time....

A daft punk The reality is that they found slightly worn out lower control arm bushings, but the service guys said that it is not something we should be concerned with. Now that we have new shock absorbers it handles quite precisely for a car of its category.

James Kaminski that’s my plan. A different approach than the mk3.
Owned two of these myself, both blue. Can’t beat the exhaust note and no crazy wing or pull me please styling. My favorite VW of all time. Be sure to showcase the Haldex service and the crazy wrench!
I'm interested in the repairs, the heated seats especially.
Me too. I need my heated seats. HAHA
It's the passenger side that all of a sudden stopped working. The side airbag scares me, so I haven't tackled it.
eovdubs VW just unplug the airbag prior to any work you will be fine. Don't let it intimidate you. Honestly I am pretty sure I overpaid. But I like the car so it’s not a huge deal

SWEET!!!!
I hate when youtubers that “ding” sound in their videos. It drives my dog crazy he starts freaking out.
Oh man I’m sorry. As a dog person and a dude that has a dog that freaks out like that, I feel for ya.
HumbleMechanic lol it’s all good...It must be the frequency of how my iphones speaker produces some sounds because game show like noises also freaks him out but the same noise or video from a different source (tv or another phone) won’t bother him.

The wonderful window tint. Ahhaha from what I hear that’s a common South Florida thing.
Use OE rims !
I am on the fence there.
HumbleMechanic ok !i love that you are not snobbing your subscribers !!!!you are the first RUclips that has over 100 k subs and answers !

Thank you. LOL With out you guys I have no channel so I try and answer every comment I can.

Won't work. Suspension setup is different on the R32 than any other MK4 due to the AWD.
Thank you for the offer. 😎
Can you send them to me XD
I reviewed a mk4 R32 for my channel a few months back and fell in love with it can’t wait to see the finished car my man top video just subscribed 😎👌🏻
Love your vids. please stop the dings
Thanks. The dings were kind of a shout out to one of my favorite RUclips channels CInemaSins ~ ruclips.net/video/WBwVuP756XU/видео.html
All good
HumbleMechanic Or... Keep the dings as it helps us people who are a little bit short of attention to know that we're onto a new subject/another thing to do.
Thanks to your show and awesome channel i have fixed up my 1.8t passat and i do not regret buying it and for that i thank you!
My car had even more repairs then this r32
diy on mk4
the sound of the beast is amazing .I watch this vdo at 7:00 am and happy to start my day with . thanx
Just drives me nuts when people take things off like battery covers and belly pans. Then say the vehicle doesn't need them. Manufacturers do not put parts on that are not needed
Me too. I ordered a battery cover. And the guys at DieselGeek sent me a belly pan. Which is awesome.
I no longer wonder why VW is so cheap compared to other germans. My -97 Mercedes is pristine, everything is like new except some cracks in wood trim.
I think the MK4 did have more issues than most. Plus being a FL car didn't help. My MK3 has less broken dash parts.
Audi and VW are designed with about a 5-7 year lifespan. Nothing comes close for the money in terms of driving experience. I hate my Japanese daily no comparison.
Mortalomena that's untill you let him check over your car lol, my vr6 mk3 looks like a gem till I think about it.
I was sad the entire video until you started it up... then I had a huge smile on my face 😁
This is a perfect project car. Glad you're taking this on and providing video tutorials for the world.
Things id like to know is:
1- Tuning the OEM Bosch me7.5 ecu. how to get started and how this is possible!!! Please please this would be a great one.
2- logging with vcds, how to understand what we are seeing as diy mechanics, to safely adjust fueling and injector sizes etc..
3-what were your results after your compression test?(might have missed that)
4-if you can touch on the long runner intake of the 3.2, and its internal settings
It's already an awesome car and in your capable hands I'm pretty confident it will get all the love it needs over time. Looking forward to the future content with the R32.
I got my mk4 r32 in ibp a month ago and I'm loving every second I drive it, I have to say I paid premium for her so it's rock solid all around, came with a giac tune, short shifter and modified suspension. looking forward on how you fix it
The only VW I still like.
Make videos of all repairs. Charles! Those suspensions repairs excites me the most :) Also not to mention the shifter mechanism!
Oh yeah! It's the only way I can justify the car I don't need HAHAH. Luckily my wife likes the color so she is happy too.
HumbleMechanic haha, as always, you choose the car, wife chooses the color! :)
Thats VR6 👊
Welcome to the R32 club bud! Fellow MKV R32 owner here. Get ready for many unnecessary joyrides. I love this machine!!
Woo! Will you be heading to Wookies in the Woods?
HumbleMechanic some year I’ll make it out there, I plan on keeping this R32 for a long time !
I'm really excited about this project. There are a few DIYs that will help with issues I have on my 20th.
Can’t wait to watch these videos. My 03 A4 3.0 had allot of these same issues. Great content, keep it up.
Always more mk4 videos! I have a mk4 vr6 myself. Can't wait to see you work on this thing.
Oh yes! The Mk4. Germany has a lot to answer for! I'm glad I got rid of mine. Bought for 15k sold for 4K and I was happy to see it go.
ouch This is my 2nd MK4. It's the VW I grew up fixing as a tech so we are pretty close. LOL
man i love the mk4s its nice to see a fellow NC native fixing these VWs the right way
Hey man I just bought a r32 mk4 2003 and I have very few of the problems you have it could just be user error or maybe I have a very babied car. Cheers good video
That’s awesome.
tom foster+one of the last cool VW designs
Still love this video. I have did a lot of these things to mine but I'm still not done. 03 Jetta GLI VR6 24v. Thanks for the info Charles!
Congratulations on driving this car back this project sounds exciting~
Nice you have a Mk4 R32, so do I! Mine right now sits in the driveway because the timing chain is making noises. After I get enough money I'll throw in a new clutch along with the timing chain. Looking forward to all your new videos regarding the r32!
Yeah that’s a fair amount of cash for that job.
Love your channel and your humble optimism. I'm excited to see you restore this gem of a VW to its factory glory (or better)! I'm also glad to see the B5 Passat (barely) made it into this video as well.
Hahha it’s true. I haven’t had the Passat in a video for a while. She will be making a return before too long
Love this Charles glad you got an R32 always fun to watch your videos
So many similar mk4 problems I've dealt with one way or another
Can't wait to see the progression
Enjoy
Keep up the good work on the videos and now I’m glad you got a R32 because I can learn even more!
The soft rubber on the plastic was totally bad on my MK4.
What I did was some acetone to eat that rubber, then fine wet sandpaper, mat black paint and it was perfect!
I had it for 5 years and the paint never fainted.
AWESOME! That is something I am looking at doing. I want to grab a few junk yard parts and trial them.
Good to know we are not alone in this...90% similar issues dealing with performance hatch. And we are half way across the world.
Yeah still a fair amount of dry rot. All in good time :)
Great video as always! I have a blue '03 GTI (20th anniversary). I am also looking forwards to the projects.
How did you fix the heated seat?
I liked how the exhaust sounds were [music] and [applause] in closed captions.
Thanks! :)
Love that VR6 sound. Goodluck on the rebuild. Looking forward to see it refreshed!
