If you have a basic 12 or 24 volts system it will probably do just fine for you - That means if you have 12 or 24 volts panels charging a 12 or a 24 volt battery bank it will do ok - Now if you have a higher or lower voltage set of solar panel and your battery bank is a different voltage than the solar panels this unit will not be efficient at all -
Open it up and look for a HUGE Copper coil wrapped around a iron core Toroidal transformer. You can't miss it! It'll be an eyes sore massive copper wire wrapped circle. One shown here is pwm junk.
Today if you open some controllers - it might have a transformer but it will appear to be a capacitor not a transformer - If you open a LiTime MPPT the transformers appear to be large capacitors - something I saw recently -
If you have say 12 volt panels and a 12 volt battery and the wire run is short from the panels to the battery's - that controller will work just fine - I have 3 of them - the panels generate about 20 volts at peak voltage - the battery's are 12 volts - I don't have a problem with it - but I would not push it to 40 amps - I tried the full input and mine started smoking at 40 amps lol - it will handle 20 amps ok - There is more loss with a MPPT controller so on small systems that's a good choice -
hello, can you give me the reference of the sop 8 juste above the usb plug under the two capacitors at the left.It is regulator dc dc because mine is burned and i need to replace it but i can not read the value for replace the part .it's the same as mine.Don' t go above 1.5 a mp else the warm destruct the component..Really thank's for this video.
Ok thank's merci! this component is U1 sot23 .The probleme is arrived when i have connected a battery bank (10*18650) on the usb plug 5v.this plug is just for a phone or small current 1.5a max.In future i will use an external module 5v 3a with voltage 6 to 40v input.
An mppt controller works as a switching power source and has as its central element a coil/transformer on a torus on the ferrite. The power transfer is, as a rule, with high randament. It is ? 😃
So I can recognize the original MPPT regulator by the fact that it is heavy because it has a coil in it? Can't some microprocessor do it? So this one in the video is an ordinary PWM in a box from MPPT? So, wasted money for the purchase, even if Jan would be used for weekend cottage operation? Thanks
Zero Caps, Zero copper inductor, zero everything. 100% trash pwm product. Its a Fake. Nothing on the board not even a microcontroller. Junk trash rubbish.
There is no inductive coil. You can look at Powmr 20 amp teardown on solaraddict. That is a cheap mppt and it has huge capacitors and an inductive coil
Yes this is rubbish, they are not proper buck converters, they still pwm the fets, but there is no Inductors and caps to store and smooth the output. The output is just the raw input PWM controlled pulses. Because the output is just a string of pulses the surges destroy the batteries. It also relies on the battery to stop the voltage pulsing sky high, so if the input is 90V the output is pulses of 90V. Absolute rubbish design, this is a good way of destroying batteries fast.
My experience is these devices just send low frequency pulses about 1 every second or so, sending huge current surges to the battery only limited by the input current limit of the source, it does not MPPT either. The device is useless.
Sorry for your loss John. Could you make us a video of you running it over and laughing hysterically with your vehicle and we hope it goes viral and w can buy you a real MPPT charger like and Outback or Aims.
It has been working fine for a long time and no battery damage detected.
So if you connect a 240 watt solar panel with 37.2 Voc, 30.4 Vmax, and 7.89 Amax to this controller with a 12V lifepo4 battery, what will happen?
It won't work. You need a 24v battery.
i have one and it works good for a $40 controller
Its just a pwm charge controller so yeah it would work but its more that its just false advertisement.
how much amperage can it handle?
Amp for me works' well correctly 15amp all day.....
Esto lo compre y lo probe con un panel solar de 570 vatios y no pasa nada no sirve ... Casi daño mi panel
i bought one of these and installed today, how would i know if it's a fake or not? it seems to be working now.
Real MPPT have Inductor Coil inside.

This week when I go to the house in the country I will see what the electronic component is.

What is the single pin on the bottom right hand corner for?

Is the input ampere almost the same as with the output ampere?
Why are you saying it is fake.

🎉 gracias,
Because it’s only 25 usd 😂
If I had known that it is not an mppt controller, as it says on it, I certainly would not have bought it.False advertising.😔
