Its called an extraction game. They literally took the purpose of the game out of the game. Now it is a PvP shooter and you pay for your gear.
Yea agree, loses the value.
You pay for your gear **if you are bad** 😉
If you are good, you take the gear that the bad players paid for. It's like a way for bad players to throw money at the game to continue playing.

this is why old games are superior. you pay for it one time and get the full content, no microtransaction and dlc BS. you own the game and can play it again anytime you want unlike these digital games that you need to subscribe into
Most DLC is fine, DLC is supposed to be an extention of the game created AFTER the initial game has been published at the demand of the eager playerbase who want more of whichever world they are invested in, nowadays it's a little different though, now the DLC is made of bits removed from the original game and sold separately at the initial games launch, real shame

"You are plankton, in an ocean of whales" that is a very accurate way to describe pay to win games.
Did A.I. just become sadistic and evil?
yes and now the plankton cant harass the whales with PayToChat they can now eat in piece 🤣🤣
Whales need plankton. If plankton leaves the game, whales won't be able to flex shit they got and would be discouraged to spend money on it.
Yeah the plankton usually catch on quick and leave the whales to starve, then the game dies.
@@christianalanwilson434 The plankton in this analogy clearly aren't catching on quick enough. As guess who is fed throughout this entire story? The developers and their shareholders, that's who is really eating good. I don't have confidence things will change. Cash for ammo? Sounds like EA's wet dream.

They're taking notes
The Hunter did this years ago lol.
World of Tanks does this already
Tencent's logic is actually very simple: if players spend money, it means they are satisfied; the company makes money, so Tencent is also satisfied. Therefore, we need to create games that drive more spending-it's that simple. In fact, they almost entirely base their game development on backend spending data and take pride in this, believing they are genuinely serving the players rather than trying to express some nonsense ideology.
I don't think the analogy of whales and minnows applies to this game because it doesn't create such a vast disparity in power. In fact, free players hold a psychological advantage: "I killed a paying player, I'm really good. I got killed by a paying player, that's to be expected." The core issue with this system is that the distorted economic structure leads to high-value items being extremely scarce, as it needs to ensure that some players will pay. This also causes all players' behavior to lean towards hiding in ambush at choke points to attack other players, resulting in a poor gaming environment.
And its an extraction game, that is what they want.
It does create a vast disparity in power, you must be slow, there is no other explanation.
Totally agree. Game is for sure pay to win, no doubt about it, but as a free player, im having a blast and dont think im in a huge disadvantage as other people are saying.

It's so sad that the gaming monetization landscape is only getting worse. You'll have some publishers and developers who will try to be more reasonable, fair, and non-predatory, but the scummy ones will still get fed fat by brain-rotted consumers...
The only way to stop greedy monetization is to stop giving them money
If you could sell a turd for a million buck to a dimwit, wouldn't you do it as well?

The best we can do is support those who actually want to make good games with fair monetization and buy their products. In response to the people trying to defend the Dads that just wanna spend a few bucks and don't have time to grind:
I'm a Dad, I have 2 kids. The reality is Dads aren't meant to be good at games, they're meant to be good at being Dads. Frankly, games distract from that. I say that as a Dad who games. My days of being a competitive person in a gaming lobby are done. I don't have time for that, my time is better spent on my children. That's how it should be. Dads aren't supposed to be competitive at games and aren't supposed to be gaming in any large context. It's not where they are in life. That's the reality and the hard truth that needs to be said. Stop pay to win, Dads don't need to be, and shouldn't be, good gamers.
I'm not gonna lie, this made me sad, not because anything you said was wrong, but because I know that eventually I'm going to have to give up gaming as much as I do now for my kids in the future. I'm 24 and in college with a girlfriend. Me and her game together, and I would be lying if I said giving this up for kids sounds a bit sad. I know it's a bit immature to feel this way, but gaming has been such a big part of my life since I was like 6 that I can't help it feel that way sometimes.
@@GoldenEagle311 It's perfectly reasonable to feel that way now. At 24 you likely still have some years ahead of you to game. Keep in mind you don't have to quit gaming as a Dad, but it does take a major backseat to being a Dad. And, frankly, the joy your kids end up bringing you - the sense of purpose and fulfillment - is far beyond anything the best video game could ever provide.
I game for short periods in my downtime when kids are napping kind of thing. I intentionally chose games that I can play for 30-60 minutes and put down having accomplished something. Currently, I play D4, because it is a system I understand well and can be relatively good at given minimal time investment. I never play games that require 4+ hours to accomplish anything, those are off the list. It's good this way honestly. I am happier today than I was as a 24 year old gamer. Don't stress too much about it.
Imagine not playing games with your kids, you fools have literally hamstrung yourselves for no reason.
@@GoldenEagle311 just don’t have kids easy
Dad of a 2-year-old here, and I totally get where you're coming from. My competitive gaming days are behind me. I'm 36, and most of my daily hours are already dedicated to the responsibilities of being a dad. So how do I still find time to game without cutting into quality time with my kid? I wait until she’s asleep. This leaves me with about 1.5 hours of playtime, usually late at night. Honestly, it’s taking a toll on my body and mind just to squeeze in a little time to play.
Now, I’m just an average earner, but believe me when I say there’s no way I’d spend a dime on a P2W game when I could spend that money on my child. No way in hell. The only money you're getting from me is when I buy the game, period.
So, let me ask you this: Will I buy your game if it’s P2W and I have zero intention of spending extra on microtransactions? Nope, I won’t. With my limited time, I'd rather invest in something that's fun, fulfilling, and worth my time-rather than being a plankton feeding the whales as they chase their ROI highs.
There's something about this particular game genre that attracts players who are hopelessly addicted and can't put the game down no matter what unsightly, immoral, or greedy thing the developers do. American game publishers still haven't noticed this.

And I called it the very moment I learned about that game. I knew that game had everything needed to popularize and standardize these trash monetization schemes the moment it came out. The fact it's ACTUALLY a good game with predatory monetization schemes and cute girls made me give up on the gaming industry. That's when I knew that proper gaming in the AAA industry was a lost cause. Would only be a matter of time from there before everyone followed suit. The corporations won, the gamers lost. And there's nothing anyone could do to stop it, because there are too many losers out there that either don't know, don't care or cope and would play anyway, and this game appeals to that very demographic.
I pray indies continue to fight the trend.
When Genshin released I also play the shit out the game, up until I realize that I can't play freely. There are always things that time gated. After that, I just left and never play the game again. But the thing is, if people actually hate this kind of game, they will just stop playing. But in reality, a lot of people still plays the game. So, the gamer in this case is part of the problem as well.
This will not change; it will only get worse because the older gamers who hate this will soon be replaced by kids who accept this.

I've been playing off and on since launch and have over 100 fragile resin, so I can farm whatever I want whenever I want, but a newer player won't have that and is forced to drag out what they want to do over time.
Ok, so this is a very complex discussion.
On one hand, it's pay to win. On the other hand, it incentivises the developers to deal with cheaters, otherwise the game dies. The whole point is that you have people who will pay money for gear. Who will then lose that gear to a cheater. If the cheaters keep coming and there's no stopping them, people will stop playing the game. So you have to deal with the cheaters.
That's a good thing. Another thing is that the TTK is so extremely small that gear isn't 100% a defining factor in a fight. You can get one shot by a grenade regardless of your gear. You can get shot in the legs and killed like that despite having the best gear in the game. Hell, the vision area is smaller when you have thermal sights, so even if you can see in front of you, you can't really see the sides that well. Sniper bullets are expensive, but if you're truly good, you can go in a raid with an M24, 20 tier 6 bullets and one tap people, get their gear. The skill ceiling is literally non-existent.
You also get 2 million KOEN at the start of the game, with missions giving you more. Also you have the merchant who sells limited time stuff and you can buy it for less and sell it for more to make money. You can buy the best gear in the game right at the start and just be good and get good gear from other players cause everyone starts with money.
It can be P2W if skill is an issue. If skill is not an issue, good players will be good regardless, because they're given quite equal footing from the start of the game. And I say this as someone who's not that good, but I have yet to see a player who's not cheating and I can't one tap in the head with the sniper.
Almost all game developers are like used car salesman now
Triple A devs, join the indies side, cheaper, more quality and pay to play not pay to win
actually the game developers are like the manufacturers, the streamers are the used car salesmen - their job is to sell us a piece of crap and make it look great
Now? This whole thing started off as arcade machines like street fighter that were made to be unbelievably hard, takes hundreds or thousands of hours to learn while also charging you quarters every time you lost lol.
Asmon makes an excellent point when he points out that there is no dichotomy between one person grinding and another "dad" with little time having to spend a little money.
Developers have already build other solutions for this exact issue e.g. catch up mechanics. With the amount you can catch up they can effectively determine the maximum gap between "full time" players and the more casual crowds.
Been playing alot of it the past few weeks. The ratty feeling you get knowing you, a f2p MP40 smg carrying rat, domed a whale carrying 30 dollars worth of gear and ammunition in Forbidden Factory is unreal. P2Win? More like P2Lose
Paying for chats (shouts) is nothing new. It doesn’t cut down on spam and harassment, it completely cuts out everything EXCEPT spam and harassment
😂 yah
The thing is not everyone is against this. Some people just want pay to win. They will delude themselves until they actually believe an alternate reality. Redefine words and concepts to fit their narrative. You can’t convince them otherwise. The market for this exists and people with competitive integrity or fear that this will negatively affect game design decisions will have to look elsewhere.
Bro I’ve spent 10$ on skins and in the top 1%. People paying makes it better for free players..? Idk how to convey that
Free 2 play players have 0 votes and Whales have $500k worth of votes, that's it.
Paying for stuff like this in a pvp game like this just may as well stuff loot pinatas into games. I bet any f2p player who grinded their way up would 1 tap these idiots
The game mostly makes money from The battle pass
If they got rid of buying currency people will still complain anyway because they can't whale
There are always be a people who want to get unfair advantage, you cannot convince them to not do it. But you can leave the game and just say them: Ok do it, spend all your money because you will fight against same dudes like you and you won't get any advantage. You will just spend more and more money and lose anyway because there is always a bigger whale than you. Now look who is a biggest idiot, I am or you are =)
Let me guess, the brain dead casual gamer default response would be:
"it a Free to play game" (but it pay to win)
"you can still grind to get better stuff" (have fun speend 10-15h a day to keep up with the whale)
"you would be dumb to pay for stuff in a pvp game" (if the whale can pay for stuff they already don't care)
"you can buy the best stuff and still get kill by other people" (one again the whale don't care)
"i don't pay for anything i gind my way up and still win again people who pay" (sure thing buddy next tell me you beat dark soul 100 % speedrun with a blindfold and a dancepad while upside down)
"other game did that so what the big deal" (and thank to brain dead casual gamer like you it became normalize so thank you very much)
there a just no way to arguments again these people, because you can think of the most bullet proof logic and they can just "woop woop to bad bozo".
“Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
That old leaked audio from where EA higher up wanted to make players to insta reload in Battlefiled as a microtransaction actually came to life in another form.
They don’t want anyone to have an unfair advantage over anyone due to monetization. They want everyone to be pay-to-win so they’re on equal footing

P2W and Micro transactions are a plague on the gaming industry. Bring back skill based. Stop buying the games until they change.
The only way we win, in a rigged P2W game, is to not play.
I will never accept this in a PVP game, just walk away folks.
Correct. Don’t play the game, don’t support it. There will be people who do play it and they will mostly be whales.
But in a PvP game, whales don’t like to go against other whales. It’s not fun for them, it defeats the whole purpose of they they are a whale (insane power imbalance).
When a whale doesn’t have smaller fish to feed on, they’ll die and with it so will the game.
The majority of the players who play p2w are the small fish.
That’s never coming back.
Literally no developer is going to leave free cash on the table, and why should they?
Gamers will not pay for a game up front. Certainly not in the numbers needed to cover costs. So the only model that works is micro transactions which ultimately leads to P2W.
This business model WORKS.
@@kirishima638 There is no "ultimately leads to P2W". That was a deliberate choice. If they wanted your rhetorical "free cash on the table"? They could have done what every other dev did for competitive games, and stuck to cosmetics only for microtransactions. BUT NO, they chose the most egregious outcome for a game like this.
Why would any sane person choose to compete in a game, hyper focused on loot, where some Mr. Money Bags can just spend his way into better loadouts? The entire point & draw for this genre of game (the struggle for loot, the gear fear & consequence...etc), has been defeated by the devs utter greed. This is not an extraction shooter anymore, it's a wallet extraction device.
When you say "That’s never coming back." for a games industry without microtransactions, I agree, that is true. Market forces are clear in that regard. For me I differ from the OP, as I'm fine with cosmetics. However there is never an excuse for this level of P2W, none.

This is why I avoid PvP focused games. Games based around co-op and PvE tend not to have P2W elements, as the main motivation to pay money to get an easy gank on the other guy, just isn't there.
I prefer PvP over PvE, but its not PvP anymore if P2W is a part, then its WvW, wallet vs wallet, which is even more boring than PvE, ofc its understandable that people prefer PvE over WvW games that sell themselves as PvP games
youre just killing easy mode brain dead bots tho PVE, much more satisfying to kill a human player that you outsmart / outplay
What? PvE was where this stuff was pioneered. Look back at single-player games, especially RPGs, and you can find a slew of games with better gear, in-game currency, or some other thing for real-world money. I mean, that's what pre-order bonuses used to be, basically. It's just that in single-player games, this stuff is typically perceived as content rather than P2W. I actually still remember player tales games and being able to buy super experience boosts, special items, and other crap. The assassins creed games have entire armor sets and weapons that you can buy. Even multi-player PVE had this stuff.

Whats worse about people who defend p2w games is that they realize devs can just tweak few numbers and make the game more grindy and force people to spend, but they will still defend it since "just dont spend, its optional". Like simply giving boss hp two more 0, then boom, it then requires more money to p2w it and more time to grind it.
People still remember the "optional" microtransaction horse from wow, due to that there's a f ton of games thats just 90% microtransaction and 10% actual game content.

Okay hear me out. Buying ingame currency for real money we all can agree that's not the best idea. HOWEVER.
If they allow you to do so, not only are they getting the money directly from the people who's willing to spend real money on ingame currency, but also they are avoding RMT. This will be favorable towards the health of the game, as less hackers will be trying to play the game, as they cannot profit from legit players.
Also a great point is that certain items you cannot buy from NPC, you need to either trade or buy it into the marker. That means, the whales will be spending real money on ingame currency for us to end up getting what we want, which is ingame currency selling items in the market.
After that, it won't matter if they put money in the game, if you end up receiving it indirectly after some market sales.
But yes, it sounds like a PTW, however, I'm already at 6 Million Kuan/Juan/Yuan, whatever the name was, and I didn't spend a penny.

I think it's the misleading aspect of "Free" in F2P. I know some poor folks who play these games because they dont have money to afford real games. It's a vicious cycle.
Its the f2p people that make these games possible. If they got smart enough to not play them, no one would play them. And no one would have to cry. The whales want to see you cry. If you start playing a "f2p" game with the notion of being f2p and thinking you're going to be on par with everyone else, you are the problem.

Lmao people thought this was gonna be the Tarkov killer too.
No way this was ever gonna kill Tarkov. Tarkov is in the process of cashing out as much as possible before they put it in maintenance mode themselves so only they can kill their own game.
I Alpha tested Overwatch, loved the game and gave OW2 a chance but had to walk away and thats all we can do... to game devs, let the simps be simps and find better communities and studios to support.
I have a defense for this (in mobile version.). Extraction Shooter is different than MMOs like WOW, where you have to grind so hard to progress, but in this game that progress is very short and small.
Let's say you are in a high-end rank. You can still have the same gear as Whale.
How many hours do you grind for this gear? Maybe 2-5 hours, depending on your skill (let's say 5)
Now you have the same high-end gear as Whale, and now you can grind this high-end gear consistently. while in MMO you need to grind like a thousand hours or more for gear as high as whale.
I can jump to a new account and play for 5 hours, then get Tier 5 armor and bullets.
this is not a skill issue. many people find it uncomfortable to play on a mid-to-high gear lobby just to lose that gear, which is why they play on a low gear lobby (speaking from experience)
the same as the shitty game in my profile, LOL. You can say it's p2w too, with access to champions behind grinding and real money.
in the end, you're queuing against people with similar gear level as you, which is how this game matchmaking works (sometimes I still see high-end gear in a low-end lobby but it's very rare)
what I see is 10-40K, 30k-100k, 100k-1m
Honestly, it was inevitable. I really am ashamed that everyone is trying to act like "oh this doesn't matter though!"... But the reason you crucified Tarkov was for similar reasons, (I mean in some respects it was worse, but in others it was better.)... Like if people are going to support this and keep playing the game, why the fuck did you even escape from Tarkov in the first place.
So many people buy hacks and items in tarkov, and the gunplay is ass

Say you've played Tarkov for 7 years and have EoD and TUE, you've paid $250 in total for the game. If you play this game and just want a gamma case you will pay $1,080 to play that game for the same 7 years.

It fully make sense why you can buy koen with IRL money. This game has no wipe, no story progression, no insurance and no hideout. It is a PVP game in its core. Generally there are 2 types of players: players who play a lot and players who don't have a lot of time to free. The koen purchase is made possible so people who don't have time to grind koen in-game can use their IRL money to equalise the fights with players who grind the game daily. It allows people with tight schedules to pick up the game any time they want.
As far as player driven economy go, that is not entirely how it works. The selling price of some items are still determined by how much you can sell it to the NPC. Also because there's no insurance system, loot gets lost WAY more often than in a game like Tarkov does so it balances out market nicely.
Can't afford T5/T6 armor? There's always ratting and leg meta. Not realistic? Pretty sure in real life you'd wait in a hole for 3 days/weeks/months/decades to kill your enemy. Or you could just get a mosin or SKS on the cheap loaded with T5/T6 ammo. 1 to 2 shots is all you need. Get good.
indeed, certain people busy with work, when they have little time to grind, so they buy it, I don't see any problem with that.
