- Hi all - thought I would share my annual 4th of July pie with everyone. Pie baking is a right of passage in my family - I have attached a piece I once wrote about this sacred art below. Happy 4th!

In Australia I’m finding a lot of people are not into desserts as much now. Such a shame. My mum, now 90, has been a wonderful cook, always very particular, but her main specialties would have to be baking and desserts. One of the nicest things about visiting mum has been that she always has beautiful desserts. From Raspberry pie or sponge, lemon cheesecake, apple pie….. my desserts taken from her over the years include pavlova, lemon meringue pie, chocolate pudding… her specialty would have to be passion fruit sponge….
Wonderful memories and traditions.
(My mum and sisters live in different states in Australia to me.)

I kid you not Dody - just before opening you tube to find something to watch as I wait- I cut up a stick of butter into pieces and put them in a glass 2 cup measure then put it outside in the sun to soften not melt. So I'm waiting for them to soften and I turn on your video and you are cutting up butter! ❤How fun that this synchronicity happened with us today. Enjoy your pie my friend 😘

This is so awesome Dody! I wrote down the recipe and will try it. We have a cherry tree and rhubarb that would be a delicious pie. My fiancé is the one with the sweet tooth though. haha.
