It would certainly speed up music making especially with CPU hungry virtual synths but I cope with my old laptop. Maybe I shall upgrade in time as ideas come into my head faster than my laptop can keep up with.
Seeing Philip's father come back to music has been one of my favourite things to see. I love seeing someone later into life still continue to find new joy in old hobbies, and it helps the music is so unique too. Philip helping him along with this is wholesome.
Caboosing came together quickly as a result of one chord and the bender wheel. The steam train chuffs are an SH101 sound using just white noise and envelopes used to together with and part of the drum track. Pitch changes added interest. It took me under two days from start to finish. Some tracks are like that. It is my Marmite track. People seem to love it or hate it.
@@Steventhedreamer Amazing job on that track. I'm sure everyone who has ever messed around with a synthesizer has tried to play a chord while using the pitch-bend wheel, but seamlessly integrating that sort of sound into a composition is just incredible!
It's really heartwarming seeing you two bond over making music. You both make really nice tunes that have their own style. Music was one of my dad's passions, and I've only gotten into it in more recent years. I wish I could have bonded with him the way you two do :)
Deep in Thought took months to make and was my first attempt at using Cubase and modern technology. I had an early version of Cubase on my Atari 1040STE many years ago in the early 80s but never used it instead preferring mixer and tape recordings. I wish I had started then but better late than never.
I really need to give his albums a proper listen. All the ones you use in your videos are all so unique and I absolutely love them and inspire me to try to make music again. Keep up the good work Steven!
Had a lot of fun listening through the tracks, they have a certain vibe to them! I think it’s wonderful to be so productive with a hobby, wish I could do the same!! Kudos!!
I think the best way to truly appreciate how much effort it takes to create something, is to attempt to create something by yourself within the same medium.
It would be cliche to call this video wholesome, but it is the truth. Definitely going to check out Steven's more recent tracks, I don't think I've had the chance yet.
So cool to see the collaboration between father and son! The music in your videos has always been great, little did I know that it was so close to your home. Cabooses FTW!
I'm late to the party here, but reading Steventhedreamer's replies to the comments here it makes me happy to see him talking about how Philip has been a big part of inspiring him to start making music. About 2 years ago Philip posted a video on Deep in thought, and the both Philip and Steventhedreamer inspired me to make something of my own. So I started learning the tools, and after months of work, in December 2022 I put out my first three tracks out to the world. They're not amazing, they don't have more than a handful of listens, but I am proud of them. So thank you both so much for inspiring me to learn something new, and make something I am proud of.
Gotta check out these albums, i listen to Deep in Thought and From my Imagination all the time and love them. Huge respect for your dad for making music at his age and for sharing his creations with all of us
Sometimes in life it pays to be different and not follow the herd. In life a sense of humour and fun helps you to get through, especially in difficult times. I like to make people smile.
I just want to say to Steven that at the moment he is the soundtrack to my life, whether that be walking around a city or the woods, driving down the A1, or shopping. Thank you for doing what you love!
I did sell a few years ago but don't paint these days. My music has taken over all my spare time. Creativity can be in many forms. Now for me it is music.
I listen to a lot of IDM, especially Squarepusher and Aphex Twin, and spot a lot of similarities between those and your music. I’m interested to know if any IDM artists have influenced the tracks you and your dad make. I’m asking to dispel the thoughts I have that it could just be a coincidence and your only influence is that it sounds good, lol.
The music ideas just come into my head and I play and record them. I am bound to be influenced by music I have heard over the years but I do not consciously copy any music.
I am not a showman despite the American motorcycle policeman's leather outfit in the picture and as shown on the Wingwalker cover picture which outfit has seen many hundreds of miles on big BSA twins.
If you gift you dad a new laptop the universe may explode from his musical output being sped up
Or he'll reject it. A proper chad move.

This music sounds awesome, I love caboosing it has such a interesting theme to it that other music can't really capture.

Your dad shaped my life with his music in my younger years. The fact that he is releasing more and more now makes me very very happy!
Thank you for such a lovely comment
Always appreciate Mr. Steventhedreamer's music.
Thank you both.
Thank you for listening to my music. It encourages me to make more.
So glad your dad started making music again, he is such a good composer.
Thank you but I don't know where the ideas for tracks come from. They just come into my head as I play on the keyboard. Maybe I am being helped.
@@Steventhedreamer why wont you just buy a new laptop?
I like your dad, he reminds me of my dad, I miss him playing the synthesizer
I hope to carry on playing and sharing my music for many years to come.
thank you so much for saying this, by the way, his name too was Steve, but his alter ego was Stray like a stray cat @@Steventhedreamer

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I am fortunate to have such a kind, helpful, honourable and encouraging son.
your dad replying to most of the comments under this video is very sweet i just hope people aren’t rude to him like they are to you sometimes
Thankfully, I think there's a lot less of that on this channel since it's smaller and isn't really related to counterstrike as much.
If people bother to comment they deserve a reply
I appreciate your thoughts though Reganomix.
@@Steventhedreamer i suppose that’s fair enough
i hope you get to share these experiences with your future (current?) kids the way he gets to share it with you

Hello Catzzye. Thank you for your positive support as always.

I spend maybe 4 hours a day almost every day making music. It is pure creative pleasure for me.

The mind needn't age if it is spending hours a day actively making music.
its so lovely to hear you talk the world about ur ol' pops
Enough of the ol pops! This is Steventhedreamer.....young for ever.
I find your dad wonderfully eccentric, I still can't get over the "My dad follows you!" during your whole Burger40 segment a few months ago.

have been listening to his music (and yours) day in day out lately

this is so wholesome
Those paintings are lit af, love the clashing aesthetics
Wistful Winds made my new year this year. I was in my hometown hotel, ill, with temperature, and I had all my life to think of...
Much respect to your dad! Great to see someone keep a hobby going for so long and still be so dedicated to it.
I plan on making music for many more years
It is good to have a positive outlet in music for my creative feelings. I am pleased to be able to share my music with so many people
I imagine your father making futuristic music, but on hardware that was deemed futuristic in the 80s
Yes you are right but I still like to twiddle real knobs.
I can't wait to hear his music in a new CS2 music kit
I wish but I don't think they would allow a second kit from Philip and myself unless there was an overwhelming demand.
thanks for sharing
almost jumped out of my chair when you mentioned tubular bells. one of my favorite albums of all time.

Could we ever see Odgrub in Elden Ring?
Why doesn't RUclips suggest your videos anymore? I am subscribed to all your channels but I don't see them on my feed.
