This video is exactly what I've been thinking for years since the vending machine was added. I could never explain it like you can and I have tried. This is definitely the most interesting part about the game and economics in general. Awesome video!
I love the amount of information you've given us and the amount of research you've done for a single video, good work ❤. Edit: I also appreciate your use of philosophies mentioned in the video, it gives this channel a sense of uniqueness, Jesus, just imagine the amount of works, researches, and scripts you had to make just to make this video happen.
Another banger video. Growtopia doesnt deserve such amazing quality videos man. I hope u use ur skills for other games as well and u will succeed for sure. Keep it up man.
i really just enjoyed the game for the socialization, played this game on and off for about 6-7 years. Had so many memories. I guess the longer we played the more we realized we were getting old and had to move on lmao
Real hardcore badass guys used to farm purple blocks and coral back in 2013 not knowing blackrock farming and venus guytrap was spoiled already 😭😭😭 Not to mention I could not afford gold block at that time 2-3 per wl was crazy and considering amount of hits required it became even crazier
Player since 2014, i have impulse issues, like.. i bought 11? Cave blasts but im too lazy to farm the aqua or to farm in the underground mine, which i mean its dark/hard blocks and a time limit, so it is true, ngl
Seeing Ripper wings from 1 WL to entirely useless makes me cry. I do miss the old days.. Then again, if i kept at it, I could've made serious money with Growtopia lmaooo
The black market in growtopia also sped up inflation since they use bots (slavery) like for farmers they are like slaves because their income is like a bot that an owner owns more than 10 of them but at the end of the day they want bread and they will get it 🤑
hello ubisoft please help, why is my account banned, I didn't make a mistake, the problem is I was harvesting my plants, suddenly my account was banned for no reason, please help my account so I can play growtopia again, please help ubisoft
Try playing ironman mode growtopia, a challange in which you don't trade you don't receive help from other people, you just explore the game, farm grind and get stuff on ur own.
it's not Neo-liberal. neoliberalism accepts some specific governmental influence over the economy (like by having a central bank which controls interest rates). since growtopia lacks these things it would be considered laissez faire which is a system of absolute deregulation and is theorized by the austrian school of economics.
@@τεσττεστ-υ5θ It depends on how you might see "government interference" as in the context of a video game MMO economy like Growtopia, especially the type of economy it can still shape into in the near future. For example, the gem store necessitates and gives value to world locks and all items in the store to a degree (wl to gem ratio). World lock sinks may also be an influence to the economy. While neoliberalism accepts specific government influence over the economy, from what I know, the term itself is broad which works towards a "less regulation, the better" sort of economy. On that note, a laissez-faire economy could technically fall under neoliberalism as most of its characteristics overlap one another and neoliberalism isn't necessarily a thing of its own. I wouldn't consider Growtopia or any other MMO game economy as completely deregulated either. Absolute deregulation for game economies mean that developers will not have any sort of influence to balance their economies with faucets and sinks.
@@jimpnotsimp thanks for your response. neoliberalism has became a bit broad (mostly because anyone on the left and right likes calling their opponents neoliberal) but generally speaking is neoclassical(basically the dominant school of thought in economics) and a neoliberal government believes in some specific governmental interference like for example the creation of public projects and the funding of some welfare. examples of neoliberal governments would basically be any government of the USA in the last 70 years (so it would put Reagan and Clinton in the same boat, neoliberalism is general but not super general though). for growtopia to qualify as a neoliberal economy it would have to work under neoclassical economical models which means things like providing systems were poor player could get free gems and providing a loaning system from the shop were you could take loans with specific interest rates(these 2 could actually be good ideas for mmos btw). the current system of growtopia is (as far as i know, haven't played the game in years but went on a nostalgia trip in youtube and found your video) regulated only in that it bans scammers (this is expected in the austrian economics system because fraud is considered something the government should combat by any political system) and that it also has a central gem shop (which could be seen as a full on regulated economy but since trading with items is allowed and these items can turn to gems then the market as a whole is not regulated but instead is parallel to a secondary limited regulated market)
Growtopia is profit driven because those are the only players who will stick around after the game turned into a shit hole because of neglect from devs. The community is dead for growtopia. Unfriendly game to new players, the state of GT looking like a 2b2t lobby where only a few hundred or so people are truly winning. Why play a game where only 0.01% win? I have real life for that. I want to have fun with games. Rn I have two phoenix items and I still cannot get myself to fucking enjoy this dreaded game. I dont even check prices on my IOTMs anymore. I have played the game for 8 years now but I think for 2023-24, I have logged less than 5 hours on the game. My motivation for the game was always to be rich enough to where I didn't have to worry about wls so then I can have fun with my friends but by the time I got to that point, all my friends quit and no one socializes anymore. Is life worth living when you're at the top with no one to celebrate the view with? no. And unless you only care about the bag, 75% of players will think within this statement I said earlier. The game was meant to be social, but profiting completely curb stomped that social aspect. And to extenuate this issue, the devs are fucking horrible. I grew up with no money so I understand how important money is, but at the same time I've seen it consume people and that's what it did with Growtopia. There is no work life balance in the game, it's just grind grind grind. Sisyphus boulder rolling simulator. A content creator like you is unironically what growtopia needs. But guess what, you probably find it hard yourself to put this much effort into a game that gives you almost nothing in return right? Idk maybe im projecting but I think you should give the devs 1 or 2 years or so and then move onto something better. you have such a nice editing style along with making this shitty game somewhat fun to watch. Your starter/breakdown videos are also very informative and easy to understand ways that captivate the viewer so well. You have the same spunk a lot of the TF2 creators got. (Funny cause both games are in a similar situation but at least TF2 has a community) Idk i think im just angry at this fucking game and wished it was not dying. I miss talking with people while also having that grindy aspect to it. That's why I loved games like terraria or core keeper where you can grind w your friends in a vc and just vibe. But now if I ever log onto GT it feels like a fucking job. And after doing my internship, I'm not trying to work in a GAME bro like idk. love your videos, I know it probably gets hard to make GT videos you're probably feeling the burn too like 2 videos in 2024 lets be so real bro this game gives you dirt seeds and cave background to work with how the fuck they expect any creator to stay within the game if they dont wanna just make profit? If you ever decide to do variety content I will always watch it as long as you break it down for me. You're really good at explaining things man I love that shit. Much love from a single viewer if you even read the whole thing LOL.
Tbh there is no chance that Growtopia is coming back, even with all the Indonesian, gamblers, bots, or exploiters gone. It was Ubisofts fault to be honest, if you really think there will be a chance that GT is coming back you’re wrong, think about it, Ubisoft is a large company that has many games such as assassins creed and far cry. In Ubisoft’s eye, Growtopia was just seen as a quick cash grab. In conclusion Growtopia is never coming back, its average playerbase (60k) is just made up with bots, 59k bots and 1k actual players.
Growtopia is still successful though hello? Illegals wouldn't be playing growtopia if there was no money to be made which also means players who want to play so if we said illegals didn't exist as at least to this extent growtopia would make more profits which would motivate them to create actual good content like pve that they pull out from ..
well afterall this is a game that does take a little grind in everything to cross the bridge, but hey, massing a couple thousands for a mere few world locks or thousands of gems that would get you not really anywhere doesn't seem convenient either, aye?
@@jimpnotsimp Growtopia taught me a lot about economics. Growtopia was my runescape. I have felt the growtopia struggle to get rich. As a kid I was pretty stupid though so I never did get rich.
