State Street is a mainly pedestrian mall running from the Capitol to the Campus. Only bicycles, buses, taxis, etc. are allowed, it's otherwise closed to cars. It wouldn't shock me that Google would not have recent images.

Ah I see. It's a shame because there is a lot of great looking stuff on that street. Thanks!

@@DansOnTheStreet not really a shame, State Street is the heart of Madison. Kinda like Beale Street.

Born and raised in Wisconsin....I happily departed decades ago.
One of the main things that can be generally said for Wisconsin is the cities are clean and orderly. Plenty of places to eat.....and in even smaller communities in the 30k to 60k population count....there is surprising diversity in food options. You can be tempted with Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Thai and German fare, along with many other ethic options with an ever increasing array of chain establishments.
A wide range of faiths are recognized and public parks a plenty. A great place to raise a family and a nice place to enjoy your golden years.
MADISON is a quaint, stable community with all the qualities I've expressed already. Clean, green, educated and a leader in the "American Promise", Madison has some sass with class to match. If anyone is looking for a relaxing vacation it can be found in Madison. A great city to walk or jog in....a leisurely drive friendly place.
    Enjoy!!!

Madison is definitely NOT a flat city. Only in spots.
It's very hilly but it doesn't really show it in Google Street View. Explore around Lake Wingra (Zoo, Arboretum). Also look at Frank Lloyd Wright Drive in Middleton (for houses you might like looking at), the Monona Terrace Convention Center (on Lake Monona, near the Capitol Bldg.), Olin Park/Turville Point (lots of trails, hilly), Hoyt Park, John Nolen Drive, Shorewood Hills, Maple Bluff.

If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan you came to the right city. Namely, his city. His influence can be felt all over the town, from the Monona Terrace, to the First Unitarian Meeting House and several private homes. All worth checking out. Also the Henry Vilas Zoo is one of the few free zoos in the USA and is pretty nice right on Lake Wingra. Best view of the skyline is from Olin Park off John Nolan Drive. Thanks for stopping by, great video!

When Radio Park area was developed, all houses were required to be architect designed. No “builder” homes. The city of Shorewood, located within Madison, has the 7 figure houses, and some great mid century examples. Near the FLW designed Unitarian Church.

I recently found your channel and I subscribed. I use Google Street view to explore cities I'm planning to visit because it helps me learn the area.

Nice tour. Madison is a very nice city, dominated by the University and State government. State St is a fun street, runs from the Capitol to the University, no cars on State St. The UW Arboretum and Vilas Park are nice. Maple Bluff has the Governor's mansion. The frat houses are closer to the Union, easily identified by the Greek symbols; but there are plenty of student rented buildings and houses in the whole general area. UW is very large in area and students. Babcock Hall has ice cream made by the agriculture dept=WI dairy state! Dane Co (Madison) is one of the richest farm land counties in the state.
University Hospital is also an interesting building. Unitarian Church is by Frank Lloyd Wright, in that general area.
South of the Capitol on Lake Monona is the new convention center built from the plans by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Belmont was the first state capital. The lakes are very popular, so I guess relatively clean.
We get lake effect snow in Milwaukee and elsewhere along Lake Michigan, don't think Madison.
Fond du Lac is much smaller, but very scenic at Lake Winnebago. It is at the southern end of the lake with a beautiful park.

August, Also known as "Hippy Christmas" - when almost all renters leases in Madison turnover, and people leave stuff on the curb as free to take or later garbage pickup.
