Born and raised here. House is 3 blocks from the gardens. Blue Plate is great! Micky’s Dairy Bar though.....You missed a bunch. The nightlife for sure. Football Saturdays, Ironman, Cross Fit Championship’s, Art Fair, Willy St., LaFette De Marquette etc, come back again and we can show you why this city is regularly rated a top 10 place to live in the country.

Another thing is that no building in Madison can't be taller than the capitol, as an also former student and travel photographer that comes to madison in the summers since 2012, the capitol is known to be called the spider

I have lived in Madison since graduate school there in the 1980s... yeah, you come and fall in love. I always- always say that Olbrich Gardens is the best kept secret in Madison. Oops, the secret is out now. The University used to bring in some many international students that there is a great diversity of international cuisine in the restaurants too. With only 250,000 people...still lots to do. Enjoy.
The name of that beer reminded me of Old Speckled Hen, which is a British real ale beer. The speckled hen was actually a car used as a runaround in the MG car company works for many years and got that name from its appearance, covered in rust patches. Moorland brewery decided to commemorate it by naming a brew after it. Although Moorland went out of business, the beer is still brewed today by a company which bought its assets. It's interesting that the Wisconsin brewer of Spotted Cow came up with the name while in England to pick up an award and saw a field of spotted cows.

Nice video!! Madison is a foodies paradise. We are known for having great eating and drinking all over. Our Bratwurst and cheese curds separate us from a lot places. We also have more bars per capita than almost every city in the country. A three day stay with a stop at Devils lake and the farmers market will make the perfect visit to our city. Thanks for visiting!

Erin McManaway lol I’ve tried searching for blue moon ice cream in CA and the surrounding states-I think it’s a Wisconsin and maybe Minnesota thing? Cedar crest ice cream serves a rendition of blue moon and pieces of colored Cooke dough called “Play Dough” and it’s delicious!!!

Madison is a great place to visit. I live in Western Wisconsin by the St Paul, MN. We get too much Vikings coverage unfortunately. Glad Green Bay packers best them earlier this year. Viking fans talk big even though they haven't won a super bowl.

Cheers to Matt for trying the Blue Moon ice cream. When in the Rome. The inside of the capitol building is like a big study of marble. I hope that you got a chance to look through it. State Street pedestrian mall is always energetic with an array of places to eat, drink, and shop. That Best Western is in a prime location for many destinations with many being walkable. I am glad that you both got to enjoy your time in Wisconsin.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens was my mom's favorite outdoor hangout when she could no longer deal with crowds. Before then, the UW-Madison Union Terrace was her favorite place. ...And her favorite diner too. haha. Their pie is awesome 🤘 but I don't recall if there were vegan versions.
I can confirm the pie is awesome at Monty's Blue Plate Diner. The Blue Moon ice cream on the other hand.... not really to my taste. That's funny we wen't to so many places that were special to your mom. Hopefully it brought up some good memories while watching.
@@mattofstie9298 Thank you Matt. Many memories indeed. Family, Legendary State Street Halloween parties, film festivals, protests... I once had Blue Moon ice cream when I was little, and I see why some people like it, but not for me. Spotted Cow is popular and my brothers like it, but there are other beers which I will drink first.
I'm going to guess that Matt is a Sagittarius, Nadine is a Leo, and Mitch is a Taurus.

It may be because I've lived here my whole life... but I love to travel and adventure, everywhere else I have been I have honestly just loved so much more for various reasons. Great place to raise a family though. I have been to atleast 1 state on every coast and I much prefer down south and west coast rather than mid west and east coast.
