Greetings Kathleen, Thank you for all the voice of experience and relevant applications of your ideas. What meant the most to me is Mr. Wong's book on classroom research and how to connect with an individual on their level. I feel my wheels of interest going 100 mph. Thanks again for the free version of your webinars on RUclips for future educators all over the world.
Great advice regarding extra assignments, I have a problem to set up boundaries.." I will do it"... yeah that's me and I need to work differently on my contract hours this year.Thank you so much Kathryn for your wise voice on this.
You got this! Setting boundaries can be a challenge, but it's crucial for a balanced work life. Remember, small steps can lead to big changes. Wishing you success in managing your time effectively this year! ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
Thanks so much for all your help. I transitioned from teaching PBL in college to elementary school after COVID. 🤣 wow, what a different world and I love it! However my degrees did not prepare me for the praxis because teaching elementary content is way different. I’m still waiting for my praxis scores but I wanted to say that regardless of the outcome, your study guides saved me. Even if I have to take it again, I am so glad I got them. Also your videos were essential for me to integrate my thinking about my test taking strategies with this new content. I felt as if you were with me along the way- cheering me on. It was so nice to have you in my corner. I am grateful and will be checking out all your videos and materials ongoing as I work to become a better and better teacher. So much love! Thank you! 💗
You're very welcome! Embracing such a change can indeed be a challenge, but it sounds like you're doing great! We're proud to have been a part of your journey, cheering you on and providing support along the way. No matter the outcome of your praxis scores, remember that continuous learning and improvement are key to becoming an exceptional teacher. Feel free to explore our materials further, and we'll be here to assist you whenever you need. Best of luck in your teaching career! 💗 ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
We'll make sure to add that topic to our filming list. In the meantime, we have a helpful video prepared on 'Lesson Planning.' This video guides you through the process of utilizing your district's resources, with a focus on the curriculum map and scope and sequence. By leveraging these tools, you can effectively plan your lessons and ensure they align with the educational objectives set by your school or district. ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
I live in Taiwan and have friends who are elementary teachers. They are obligated to give their number to the parents, I’ve seen parents phone teachers on the weekends, and right before and after classes. Reasons for phoning vary, the worst I’ve seen was Parents phoning the teacher to remind their child to do well on the final exam. The boundaries are crazy nonexistent. Good thing is that foreign teachers (me) have no contact with parents. (All contact is through the Taiwanese teacher).
Also, what do you think of the idea of a four-day school week for seniors to reduce the amount of high school drop outs we currently have in the United States?
I think the four-day school week can be problematic because most parents work 5 days a week. This would disproportionately affect families that come from poverty because they would have to find child care on the 1 day that students have off. I understand schools should not be considered daycares, but when students are in school, parents are at work. If we put students on a 4-day week, it causes a bunch of problems logistically.

A smart phone-use policy in schools can keep students focused while allowing technology when needed. The goal is to create a learning-focused environment.
