This actually presents an interesting concept. Can you imagine the next GOW game having Kratos actually confront his younger self? Whether the circumstances of which being due to an illusion, a dream or just literal time travel, Kratos having to confront his past first hand by literally fighting with his angrier, darker younger self would be such a sight to behold.

Santa monica has come out to say that there won't be another god of war game after ragnarok. There may be some offshoots, maybe something involving atreus, but nothing with kratos. Of course, they might come back from that decision, seeing as how GOW is one of the biggest franchises out there. We'll see. Also, I don't think something like a consciousness fight will ever happen. Mainly because: 1) That fight already happened in the very first god of war game. They would be retreading ground. Kratos fights a bunch of kratoses in the illusion that Ares casts during the final battle. 2) Kratos has already forgiven himself for what he has done, as was indicated in the end of the third game and in GOW 4. He has mourned his first family, is no longer hiding his identity (only partially hiding just how brutal he was, for atreus' sake.) and during the events of ragnarok, his character arc has very much moved past self-acceptance and towards learning to trust Atreus to be his own independent individual. Now obviously, people can go back to their old ways, and past crimes can go back to haunt people, but it would certainly be a weird way to tell Kratos' story to just go back to retelling the same self-forgiveness tale. That said, an encounter with a younger kratos MIGHT occur as something on the side, much like how the Midgardian sisters of fate tried to manipulate Kratos, Freya and Mimir through illusions, in the same way that Ares did.

Nice little detail: Kratos in the og trilogy would use the blades of chaos to propel himself towards targets. In the Norse duology, he uses them to bring enemies to him. Really shows how he stands his ground instead of constantly scrambling across the battlefield in uncontrolled rage.

Nice little detail: Kratos in the og trilogy would use the blades of chaos to propel himself towards targets. In the Norse duology, he uses them to bring enemies to him. Really shows how he stands his ground instead of constantly scrambling across the battlefield in uncontrolled rage.
