As a Frenchman, I was a bit scared when I saw the menu with so many Italian things on it. But the Croque monsieur looked good. The bread looked a bit too... "springy", for a lack of a better word, but I guess it was made with American bread... (no, I won't joke about the yoga mat chemical in US bread). I hope you could try the real thing to compare. I have some reservations about the fries. Belgium is the home country of the fries, so although they did look reasonably good, i can easily find better fries in Belgium. If you ever visit Belgium, i am happy to suggest some meals and/or restaurants to try ;-) And you should really compare French cuisine in France with Italian cuisine in Italy.

France fun facts: French was the official language of England for about 300 years, between 1066 and 1362. After William the Conqueror led the Norman conquest, he introduced Anglo-Norman French to the nation. This was spoken by royalty, aristocrats, and high-powered officials, some of whom couldn’t speak any English! In 1362, however, parliament passed the Pleading in English Act, making English the official language of government
The longest reigning monarch of a country in history remains King Louis XIV aka the Sun King, who ruled France for 72 years and 110 days.
France also has the shortest reigning monarch, King Louis XIX who ruled for...less than 20 minutes.
The camera phone was invented in France in 1997 by an enterprising Parisian called Philippe Kahn. The first photo he took was of his new-born daughter, Sophie, which he sent to his family and friends.

    French here.
The tapenade looks good if slitghtly lightly colored and is indeed a staple of provencal cuisine. However it is pretty much always eaten on bread and not on a sort of pita bread. The pistachio spread isn't a classic but I wouldn't be shocked to be served it.
The croque-monsieur is very typical and looks authentic. Steak-frites is also a classic and both look well made, although the steak would be slightly overcooked for most French people.
The dessert is on a creative side but I wouldn't be surprised to have it in France.
Overall pretty genuine, on the more casual side. In France this is closer to café food than to what we would call an actual restaurant.

From France: With steak frites they will always ask you what sauce to go with it, roquefort, fresh peppercorns or mushroom basically - and tapenade is served with fresh baguette or toasts made of, and couldn’t see the texture but it’s always a thick paste. But looks delicious and otherwise served as over here! The frites look better than most french restaurants, as for some reason mostly limp (at times even undercooked) and not crispy on the outside over here…something I do tend to let them know as it’s so often great apart from! The croque monsieur looks absolutely spot on! And salads on the side have now improved, but here very authentic!

Jessi: You need a change (puts on beret)
Alessio: *Why do I hear boss music?*
*HE SAID IT, HE SAID FRENCH IS GOOD!* So Provençal on the menu at 2:20 refers to the region of Provence, which is the southeastern part of France aka Marseille and the French Riviera. Tapenade is specifically a staple of Provençal cuisine. I know you may think the steak frites especially looks Americanized but it's not, that's how it's eaten in Belgium and France. Belgium actually claims they invented it, and some Belgians even consider it as a national dish.

French but expatriated in Denmark 21 years ago, it looks okay, but might be an American version of the food. The classical steak frite. Thanks to your wife to make it a little bit more French ! I love it !❤❤❤❤ So funny to see his reaction during the video. By the way my father was Italian 😊

Take a bite of the croque with a bit of vinegary salad...YUM!!! I think it looks French, however, there is no vinaigrette on the salad and the radishes should be long and skinny and served whole (with a bit of the little green stems still attached) and dipped in salt.

Probably because italians have inferiority complex towards french and they are jealous about the Italian cuisine as is more popular than the french one. Indeed, I see the french people are more open about italian food than the opposite. C'est pas mon cas, car j'adore la cuisine francaise

    - The tapenade is traditional dish from Provence (South east of France), it is mashed olives (green or black) add olive oil with capers.
    - About the "frites" (French fries), full name is "pomme de terres frites" (ground apple fried/ potatoes fried). You can say "pomme frite" or juste "frites".
    - The "croque monsieur" was only "croque", but at the restaurant the waiter will ask you "a croque, mister ?" (remove the coma) and it become "Un croque monsieur ?"
For every French dish, there is a specific recipe. Too often, people want to change part of the recipe or one of the ingredients in the recipe. You should NOT do that, if a recipe uses butter, then use butter, not margarine!
I remember ordering a tarte Tatin in a restaurant in the United States. It's an apple tart, but cooked upside down, I asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a little whipped cream to go with it. I was so eager to taste a little bit of my country's gastronomy, I was salivating in advance. The waitress brought me the tart, magnificent, caramelized as desired. I took a bite and there... the only flavor I could taste was cinnamon.
There is no cinnamon in a tarte Tatin because it hides all the taste of warm caramelized apple.
Huge disappointment, you expect a very specific taste and texture, you have the texture, but the taste is completely different. You can have the same impression, if you order eggs at the beacon but when you taste, the beacon tastes like broccoli.
In France, we don't really wear the beret anymore since the 40s-50s. BUT mademoiselle is ravishing (and not "ridiculous") when she wears her beret.

Yes, but come on man, who has a Croque Monsieur for the plat principal? That is weird. Also if I went into a restaurant in France and this was what was being served, I'd be like....so this is what the tourists get served in Paris. The really good French cuisine is innovative, varied, and much more sophisticated than these old clichés.

In Italy, that was the cap of peasants and metal workers, but the size was smaller. It has not been commonly used since the 1950s, but some old people wore it until 1970.

      @KBinturong 2 месяца назад

@@DJ-hf3qq croque monsieur was created like a fast food before going to the theater. It is the main dish, like you would eat a sandwich or a burger. Yes a croque monsieur is only this and yes it can be bad at a lot of places. Sometimes they use traditional bread because it doesn't impress tourists but if you go to any french homes, they will do it with squared bread. The plating may be a bit lacking but it's just a sandwich and salad (often a lot to fill the plate).

I want a love like this, my boyfriend I had, I terminated the position that he carried. I'm disabled and him pushing me down because he was being childish to me is not ok. No one should go through this, so, if you are being done this way, even if you are afraid to be alone, don't, it isn't worth it. Your love and safety are so much more important to someone that really matters.
