Peter’s concerns regarding protecting a local buyer market based on realistic local incomes, and restricts nonresidential and foreign investors, should be the first priority.

This is such a great conversation. I really wish every one could hear Mr. Savio.

Peter Savio makes the most sense.

What about the issue of military personnel driving the cost of rental up? As housing allowances increase, the cost of rentals go up to cater to that market. As a former resident of Kaneohe, and at one time Mililani, that was evident. This needs to be factored in. Sold my dads home in Ewa that was 250 grand in 2000s and sold for 460 grand! Who can afford that? Sold to military on the mainland va Loan site unseen. Mr Savin is right. If there are no laws to protect pricing and speculation this will continue. Had to pack my whole family up and move for better opportunities. Housing, jobs, etc. Hawaii has become the land of the rich and those who serve them. Kamaaina should not have to leave just to afford to live.
