  • If you want to buy natural Tanzanite jewelry, this video tutorial is for you. In my experience, before you buy a Tanzanite, it is important to understand Tanzanite’s grading system, factors that affect Tanzanite’s color and to beware of retailer’s marketing gimmicks.
    And that is exactly how this Tanzanite buying guide is structured.
    First, you will learn how to evaluate Tanzanite’s color intensity and it’s various shades (from violet blue to true blue). This will enable you to grade a natural Tanzanite as a Natural AA, AAA or AAAA Tanzanite where Natural AAAA is the most desirable.
    Second, you will learn how the size of Tanzanite impacts the color hues and the recommended size of Tanzanite to buy for a deep blue or purple hue.
    Lastly, you will be armed against the marketing gimmicks that a lot of Tanzanite retailers use to charge a premium.
    Tanzanite is also a softer gemstone so you will learn how to maintain it for a lifetime of brilliance.
    All in all, I hope this video will enable you to make an informed decision while buying Tanzanite jewelry.

    I was in Arusha Tanzania last week, where they come from, and went to the Tanzanite experience lab and bought a small stone. Im so excited to turn this into a pendant with diamond's around it and white gold. It came with an authentication certification and all the info. Im super happy with my purchase directly from its origin.

    I have a few yellows, pink, and a bunch of violet/deep blue. D block is just where local artisans mine their stones. I love the fact that all tanzanite has to be cut in Tanzania. They won't allow you to take rough stones out of the country unless they are considered specimens

    Is it true that the majority of tanzanite is heat treated for color enhancement and most specimens come from the earth a light brownish blue color?

    • @diamondere
      @diamondere  3 года назад +2

      Yes, most natural Tanzanites are heat-treated for accentuating it's inherent color. This is an industry-accepted practice and does not diminish the value of the Tanzanite.

      @diamondere  4 года назад

      While there is no industry standardized grading system for Tanzanites, Diamondere along with a range of other leading jewelers follow a system that grades Tanzanites as Natural AAA, Natural AA, or Natural A quality gemstones. Natural AAAA Tanzanites are the top 10% of all natural Tanzanites available. They have an intense blue color with purplish tint and are “eye-clean”. These gemstones are rare and this quality is typically used in fine jewelry by the 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive Jewelers.

    I'd like to know if Tanzanite is ethically sourced?

    • @diamondere
      @diamondere  3 года назад

      Yes, to the best of our knowledge. Unlike diamonds (which has a more streamlined Kimberley process to certify the ethical sourcing of the diamond lot), Tanzanites don't have that yet. So, definitely an area where our industry can do better!

      It is an interesting question that GIA, IGI or DGLA (some of the gemological labs we work) are probably best equipped to answer.

    Is there a black color tanznite

    • @diamondere
      @diamondere  3 года назад

      Tanzanite is found in Nature. Nature is magical. So, I am sure if you look hard enough, you will be able to find a Tanzanite that is very dark and on the blackish color shade though this is not typical for high quality Tanzanites used in fine jewelry.

      @kelly hoover thank you for the insight, very interesting. when checking out tanzanites, it seems to be the case that, opposed to diamonds, the common practice doesn't seem to be to have GIA certificates. did you ever encounter those while searching and collecting? if not, how do you ascertain that the 4 Cs are actually of high quality?
