The Ukrainian people should take credit for liberating the Syrian people - because they have weakened Russia so much - rendering them totally unable to support the tyrant Assad any longer.
@@Jimmy-ye3wg yes. I'm sure it's just coincidence that Russia was unable to get Assad the resources he needed while undergoing an expensive three year operation against Ukraine. Because as we all know. The longer a war drags out, the cheaper it becomes.
Russia’s involvement caused immense suffering for us in Syria. Now, we’re finally turning the page towards freedom and a future without authoritarian model.
@@istvanglock7445 That’s an outdated stereotype! As Syrians, we absolutely deserve and aspire to freedom, just like anyone else. The progress we’re making shows that a brighter, more democratic future is possible in the region. Dictatorship only holds people back, and we’re determined to move forward. Let’s not generalize-every society deserves the chance to thrive under freedom and equality. ✌
You young man have nailed it. I was in Syria just at the start of the Arab Spring. I spoke to many Syrians who, at great risk, told me what it was like to live under Assad. One elderly gentleman said to me, “we need your help, not your hate”. Powerful and I still get emotional thinking of it after all these years. I get despondent when I see many democracies seeming to take what they have for granted. Democracy, like everything requires effort. For those who have forgotten that……..visit Syria. They need our help now more than ever.
" _They need our help now more than ever_ " Not sure about that. Recent, not-too-distant history would seem to teach us that western help or intervention isn't necessarily beneficial, and that peoples are probably best left to figure things out by themselves.
I am Russian and I am not afraid to say so! Many in my Russia know this war to be losed. Inflation goes up and ruble goes down. It is un-sustainability
Caolan, you beautiful man. All the best to the Syrians this year. Hopefully in 2025 we will also witness the defeat of putin, and the freedom of the Ukrainians.
I always suspected that the Putin regime and the Khomeini regime were deeply involved in ALL of the horrendous atrocities that were perpetrated by the Assad regime. There are a number of other people, at least one, a woman who is a British national and who has been living in Damascus were involved as well. The BBC did a programme a number of years ago in which this womans name came up. I hope that she is being investigated again.
Great report. But I just hope that the young correspondent for Times Radio takes care of himself. Young man - "keep your head on a swivel." Always be looking around you.
I tried to look up more of Caolan's work, and I'm not pleased with what I found. Did he really work for Alex Jones, of all people, and is now pivoting to "revolutionary" content without ever addressing his former alt-right ties????? Do better with your reporters, Times.
Brave white gy heading there right now, thankful for his bravery. But most importantly, the Syrian people deserve to have their stories to told. They've been silenced for too long.
Times Radio! An Investigation as to how many casualties and property destruction resulted due to celebratory Ak-47 fired bullets shot into the sky as a report about collateral damage would be interesting. All those bullets shot into the air hardly are immune to the laws of gravity as you would agree.
In Egypt, hopes after the overthrow of Mubarak were for democratic elections, but the best prepared group was the Muslim Brotherhood. In Syria, the power behind the Assad regime was the Baath Party, the new leaders need to ensure that the transition allows for a true representative government to be established and elections held.

Not Mrs Assad by any chance?
@rogerphelps9939 No. Another person, deeply political, who is from the left. Her name is Beeley.
No. Someone else. If I post the name it gets deleted.
Nobody denies Russia's expertise in the use of atrocities against civilian populations.
If Russia was allowed to have military "vacationers" in Syria, then American and European soldiers are allowed to vacation in the south of Ukraine.
Thanks so much for having me on ❤
