- The tool industry is definitely pushing the limits of the 1/2" anvil. This new Milwaukee 2967 M18 FUEL High Torque Impact Wrench paired with the new M18 FORGE battery is loosening fasteners set to over 2,000 ft-lbs. We ruined a brand new socket, mushrooming out the 1/2" anvil square in the socket. The new Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench also includes the Tri-LED that surrounds the socket and fastener. Look for these to hit the shelves in October. #milwaukeetool #review #impactwrench

Can we all just appreciate how far cordless tools, especially impacts, have come in the last ~5 years?? What a time to be alive haha
Literally everyone other than snap on have made incredible progress with their cordless tools in the last 5-7 years. I even hear good things about walmart/hart tools and harbor freight "better" lines. Snap on still looks like it came out of the nicad era, has the absolute worst warranty of any cordless tool and costs 5× more than dewalt or milwaukee.
Literally, electric tools are just as good as air tools if not better cause you're not carrying around a hose with you. Especially for just everyday type of work.... electric tools are where its at. My dad always gets mad because I take electric tools to work on things over his air tools all day.
the issue with them is still battery. life, and weight could use some improvement. cars have a similar problem.
Yeah because in his time electric tools sucked explain to him how they are not ni-cad anymore and they have way more power
Finaly got rid of my huge air compressor in my basement. Freed up a ton of space!
This is gonna be a great tool for putting on my oil filters
Perfect, and oil drain plugs.
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’ll use it to assemble Ikea furniture.
Valve stem caps.
That's an impressive machine! I bought a mid-torque a couple of years ago and I'm very happy with it. I've dismantled my entire front suspension with my mid-torque. I even removed the axle nut without a problem. This high torque is an absolute beast and way overpowered for domestic vehicles. But I can see how someone who works with large commercial or agricultural vehicles might want something like this. Thanks for the review!
I need it for massive pumps and chiller systems that I frequently work on. Some of these pumps are just ridiculous.
I work in Ag we only use Hi Torques and this thing looks like a beast... I'm not sure it practical to remove every fastener but it should do most.
I dont even need a mid torque for my front end. I use the the stubby. But Needed my high torque to pop the lower balljoints out with on an F150 and it struggled a bit (Canadian vehicle with corrosion of course)
100% I just picked up the gen2 mid torque and I'm selling my 2767 because its so good.
@@jossegehow are you liking the mid torque? I just bought one today and haven’t had the chance to use it
What a friggn BEAST. Rusted suspension fasteners on medium duty trucks have left the chat and kudos to the big red army's engineers for giving mechanics the tool they need that'll leave their wrists tingling and smiles on their faces. We're on board as soon as this King Kong of ugga-duggas is available. Those new Forge batteries are lighter than 12HD batteries so yeah, sign us up for those puppies also.
A few years ago I was a Dewalt guy. I started having problems with my impact driver causing my battery housings to crack with moderate use. I tried to use their " warranty " only to be disappointed that they didn't consider my issue a problem. They wouldn't warranty my batteries or my impact. So, I switched to Milwaukee. Haven't regretted doing so since. I love my Milwaukee cordless power tools ! The battery isolator is a great innovation. I haven't kept up with Dewalt if they have a similar thing. Doesn't matter. After my experience with trying to use their " warranty ", I would never even consider switching back. I am totally happy with Milwaukee and what they're doing for the industry.
I have the same 2967 model at work, and I have to say, it outperforms all my coworker's air impact wrenches. We take apart large automotive dies that have a lot of fasteners, and this puppy handles everything we throw at it. I use the Forge battery and keep the setting on number 3 to allow for max power and torque. Cordless is the way to go for sure, and I couldn't be happier every time I use it.
I'm the most impressed with your testing over any other on YT. I work with 500 ft/l lb fasteners almost every day. Max is 750 for our shop but, we are there frequently. This is huge help in my decision making for purchase of a new 1/2" impact. Thank you.
I'm sure I'll be seeing this on TTC in the next couple of weeks. I'm so excited.
I'm curious if it'll take the DCF961. Looks like this one is way smoother tho.
Can't wait for their results. Wrist breaking score will definitely be up there...
Not until it's released in retail. They don't get those special early release ones.
@@1MiketheMechanic no, they do get them early from friends who accepted the brand deal. They did it for the unannounced, unreleased DeWalt.
@@1MiketheMechanicthey have a few times by complete surprise.
That is a SUPER TOOL, that's what I'm talking about. I need one of those. These tools are getting better and better, especially the torque wrench. Milwaukee, you are the BEST. Thanks for the video.
What an incredible feat of engineering while also making it smaller! Milwaukee are something else.
They finally followed in dewalts footsteps and came out with an even better tool. Bigger hammer diameter not longer. Might actually get me one.
@@jordanalexander615dewault has never had a better impact than milwaukees high impact impacts
@@alexklein455very true , but my brother in laws underpowered 899 DeWalt is a damn die hard than my more powerful Milwaukee , he's literally thrashed it over and over in the last 6 years it's looks like it had been through a nuclear war lol.
It hadn't been in the repair shop since he bought it . Come on Milwaukee make them like that .
@@alexklein455DeWalt has had Milwaukee's 2767 beat for a bit with their DCF900. I'm just glad Milwaukee came back strong. Their mid torque currently outdoes Milwaukee's too. Honestly they're all great tools though with more power than most need. It's rare I need anything more than the current Gen Milwaukee mid torque. Still getting this one though, lol.
I can’t wait to see the next gen of the 3/4 and 1” impacts. I also pray the rumors are true with the next gen 1” comes with dual batteries
Crazy power. My impacts already take a beating and my 1/2 inch impact is nowhere near this powerful. I prefer a 3/4 impact for tough jobs. I think we have reached the limit of a practical 1/2 with this milwaukee.
Milwaukee = Mindblöwn...props to STR for doing this test, checked all my questions
That's just insane. I can't believe a half drive can be that powerful. Just amazing
First generation got me. Now I’m thinking about what card to put a bunch of new batteries on
I just got a brand new card just to buy these new Milwaukee tools and batteries...
@@Tog84two97😂
You could also throw your money in the garage, probably less of a hassle. Milwaukee is a terrible company
@@johnhoefler6713 I will admit I’ve used more Milwaukee than anything but they have warranted every tool I’ve had fail so far. Even scratched up vin
@johnhoefler6713 Why do you feel that way? I have mostly milwaukee tools and they have been great.
That’s jaw dropping power!!! Absolutely incredible stuff coming out from Milwaukee and as always great testing!!
what an amazing torque output this tool has. What's more impressive is the 5Ah battery could get it way up there to almost 2000 ft/lbs. In the past I've criticized Milwaukee for going cheap with "old tech 18650 cell batteries" on their high torque kits, but if the tool was designed to provide optimal torque even with those batteries I guess I'm ok with that decision.
18650 batteries have been in the vape world for a long time. They come a variety of different capacities and outputs. Just because newer 21700 27000 batteries have more capacity doesn't mean they have more output. They are only bigger and possibly slightly more output to capacity ratio. There are some insane 18650 batteries out there with extremely high safe output but very limited capacity. Now when we get into hobby grade rc style batteries like the forge, i bet we see them not last as long as the mass produced 18650 cap style batteries.
I would like to see the Forge 6.0 next to a current 6.0, 8.0, and 12.0
Torque test channel
Thats insane, 2400 ft lbs from a 18 volt battery powered tool.
As far as cost, you are of course quoting msrp. No one ever pays msrp, never. It will be at HD as a special buy or a buy the kit for $$$ and get a free ???
I understand you need a starting value and i am very thankful that retailers have sales.
The ear buds were at the show msrp 199, i have already seen them for 150.
Regardless, this is a beast of a impact wrench. These numbers are getting into the 1" power neighborhood.
Just for fun i was answering a question about a 5" socket from Snap On and ran across a couple impacts that is not for the faint of heart.

Thank you.
I just bought this one today, never used a cordless before so I got the most powerful one I could find so it could break lug nuts loose, after watching this video I'm pretty sure it will!
I am so glad I have waited to pull the trigger on the half- inch drive cordless tools. Dewalt did a great job stepping up to the plate and getting with times. However, it sure took them long enough. As far as snap-on goes, I still love their hand tools and quality. Again, as I stated in previous tests. The performance of their cordless tools just doesn't measure up for what their price point is. What you and your team demonstrated with the new milwaukee, on top of the new forge battery. Now that's just sheer ludicrous! Thank you for what you and your team do. I still have yet to be disappointed in what milwaukee offers as far as their cordless tech goes!
@joshuavisser8022 Have you heard of Dewalt's project ludicrous? It's available for order now and has even more torque. Model # DCF961
I love that they're keeping the simple mode switch. Had a makita and all the modes and foil buttons drove me nuts
Was one of the lucky ones to buy this from HD before it sold out on 9-19-23 and should get it Friday! The addition is REAL!!!
as a heavy truck tech, ive used the two previous versions of these guns professionally, they work just fine for what i need, but after my experience with the last one, im gonna wait until this one comes out in 3/4" drive, i usually break my 33mm socket every few month thanks to it and the snap on guy rarely has them on the truck, so i end up sourcing them from cheapo locations and they hold up for a couple of wheel jobs at best, im hoping that by jumping up in drive size, breaking sockets will be less of a thing.
Use a 3/4 box with a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter and keep a couple in spare
My old high torque remove them no problem if torqued correctly and not super rusted
If you do alot of wheel removal just get a 1 inch extended anvil you won't regret it
@@legros731 Mine was removing them, but it eventually died doing so. Turned out my boss had been tightening them with the 1" Snap-On Air gun until it stopped spinning. I got the Milwaukee 1" D handle now for those
@@SilverStarHeggisist that why you supposed to torque them to 500ft lol
I am sold. I am off to Home Depot to buy the tool and the Forge 6.0 battery. Very impressive. Thanks. 😀
Buy me one please 😢
UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF POWER !!!! TO COOL
Milwaukee has always been the king in my opinion. Would like to see some cheaper tools tested tho, just to see how some compare. Been suprised with Hercules but would like to see maybe the Walmart Hart line drills and the Bauer and craftsman drills too.
Even TTI's own Ridgid line was making more power than the older Milwaukees. Not sure if they do more R&D with Milwaukee so they release later, or if TTI likes to test out their changes on Ridgid first since those customers aren't as demanding.
DeWalt dcd 961 is more powerful but just to big.
Wow!!! This put down some serious beans with just the regular 5amp. Watched the DCF900 Video and it was already struggling at 1200ft with it's 5amp battery. I see Dewalt dropped the DCF961 with 1750 breakaway, but it's just too chunky and heavy for my taste. This however is similar in size to alot of Midtorque's 🤯 what a Beast good job Big Red 👏 💪👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the laugh
The 961 made it to 2700ft/lbs with the 5ah 😂
@@etchsanity True, but I don't want to lug around that sucker all day. I'd rather have the most powerfull compact High torque on the market and this ones it. If you work on Vehicle's and heavy equipment all day like me you'll learn real quick bigger ain't necessarily better. BTW I own all three High Torque's from Milwaukee 2767, Dewalt DCF900 and my older Big Bertha R86211B Octane Ridgid. So yup Dewalt might have the most beans, but I have no need for it. If they come out with a compact High Torque that can stomp this Milwaukee then I'll pick that up ASAP👍🏻
I still have the little known 28v Milwaukee impact wrench from probably 13 years ago. I bought it when I worked at a junkyard and I got tired of using a star to take rusty lug nuts. That thing would wring off the stud if they didn't start to turn but if they did turn but were hard to turn the whole way it would struggle. All the overmolding is peeling off of The Thing even though I haven't touched it in years and it looked good when I stopped using it because the battery died and are too expensive to replace.
I think torque test channel got one of these, there's a video out there about it. Really interesting impact.
I jumped on the MW bandwagon and bought almost every M28 tool. I still have them but have switched over to M18. Those M28 batteries are super pricey now.
Wow Im impressed it Took off 2000 foot Pounds with a Standred 5ah holy smokes thats crazy for a 1/2 anvil 18:10 @Shop Tool Reviews
It definitely seems like it gets more powerful as the battery starts warming up. When first paired with with 6 amp, At 2100 ft lbs it struggled a little then at 2200 ft lbs it kicked in
Absolutely, pretty cool it was really apparent
it was even faster or as fast for the 2300 than it was for 2200 it was probably at optimum temp for the 2300 lbs
The Tesla plaid need to warm up the battery for full power in ludicrous mode
That's because batteries are a chemical reaction. Warmer makes the chemical reaction happen faster.
Holy wow! That’s some serious performance! Thanks Tim
I'm more impressed with the Hytorc and its digital torque setting - completely unobtanium for most.
OMG this impact is crazy powerful, not a fan of the price but this is a must have for taking the lug nuts off my semi trucks.
Not really, if it had a 3/4 drive anvil it would be suitible for daily use.
@@aussiehardwood6196you can buy the old one with 3/4 anvil so I expect the same for this model
But for semi wheel the 1 inch extended anvil is what you want
2767-20 A is the 1/2 high impact I have and I love this dont see me getting a new one till this one kicks the bucket 😊
We can't argue with that. If you have a solution that works, no need to change it. Thanks for watching.
That’s what they all say then get the next big thing
I don't see me upgrading until my 2767 kicks the bucket truthfully. Have not had issues busting lose any bolts thus far 🤦♂️
Im impressed it even did the 1500 foot pounds wow @Shop Tool Reviews
Nice new High Torque and the forge battery 0:47 @Shop Tool Reviews
LET'S GO TJ 🏁
The new-est Ridgid high torque does more than I need..this things a beast though
That's like the FN SCAR of cordless tools. 8lbs of of ass kicking performance that outputs like a tool that's double the thickness and weight. I was about to buy a 3/4 impact to do just two huge high torque fasteners on my racetruck frame but this could be a daily driver impact wrench that could step up to the big stuff occasionally without buying a whole new class of tool.
I just bought the last gen 1/2 impact last year. Dang. This thing is amazing.
Love the video, thank you. As always very informative. I'll be buying one for sure, looks like it may be good for heavy equipment
I love milwaukee, but get a brand new untorqued nut and bolt and torque it straight to 2400lbs and see if it'll remove it. Retorquing bolts starts having the same effect as putting an extension on a torque wrench because the bolt starts stretching. So just as torquing with an extention you may hit that 2400 on the torque but because of the stretch it's really not 2400 on the nut
I'm more impressed with your Hytorc Lithium Series torque machine but when i looked at it on eBay its way over my range.
The 2863 one key high torque is the one i have and the extended Anvil as well definitely looks more compact for the newer high torque i like that 2:22 @Shop Tool Reviews
I can't stand stuck bolts and fasteners. Going to add this to my Milwaukee collection. Also love the indicator marks on the sockets.
2k on a 5ah battery is pretty good. In the automotive world of light duty and below. If that doesn't take it off almost nothing will. I had the model before the one key and I used that to tighten pinion nuts, in order to crush a new sleeves before the final torque by hand. The tool worked great. As a matter of face the first time I used it it actually stripped the nut and pinion gear thread because I was not careful.
The new DeWalt went to 2700ft/lbs 😅
@@etchsanity aren't electric tools great!?
Milwaukee killed it!!!!
I just took advantage of the present 9/2024 Home Depot free 5.0AH battery with purchase of this tool bare. Great deal.
I'd say it's an impressive tool, only thing that brings concern is that actual torque values. Also I'd say you should use a calibrated torque wrench to verify your torque
I'll watch you. Go on, apply your 1400ftlbs to your torque wrench.
His torque guns are far more precise than any torque wrench. They're thousands and thousands of dollars. Plus there are no torque wrenches that go up that high.
you think you are gonna be able to torque something down to 2000+ ftlbs by hands easily?
@@dannys9074 yes actually. Calibrated torque multiplier with torque wrench. Used them frequently up to around 2200ft lb as a mill wright
Seriously questionable torque ratings. 13,14,1500 all took more time to break free than 16,17,1800? Same time as 2k? Maybe I’m wrong, but just from a very surface level it doesn’t really add up that 700 extra foot pounds will break free in the same period of time.
Thank you very much for the test, greatly appreciated. You have sold me on it and you got a liked and subscribed
Awesome, thank you! We really appreciate that.
I just bought mine. I can't wait to change a tire.
Would be great to see a real life side by side to see how well how the previous model stacks up or if it is completely inferior to the new model. Will the new Forge batteries work with older models? I actually own the previous model and it has never let me down.
All M18 batteries work with all M18 tools. Just some tools work better with a larger battery because the smaller ones get drained too quickly
Do I need it? No..
Do I want one? HELL YEAH!
Very nice review this is what i wanted to see!! wow this wrench is a FREAK !!
Finally something that can be used for my wife’s toys.
Great job
Thanks so much
I pray for God to reward you for sharing with others
It would be great if you tested the extensions, to know how much torque it takes away from the impact wrenches.
I like the forge Battery lights and button looks more blacked out and the lights are a darker color
This new impact wrench looks amazing and I can’t wait to eventually get my hands on one. However I’m rather annoyed at the way Milwaukee announced the new super charger. Comparing it to the old rapid instead of old super charger, calling the lack of full power simultaneous charging a feature/benefit and so on. Kinda rubbed me wrong. Like they thought we weren’t smart enough to see through their advertising BS. So what I want to know is how does the new super charger compare to the old super charger?
It really made me smile!
Are you sure your torque wrench is accurate?
Great video Señor , thank you for sharing it !
And the DeWalt that everyone is raving about got 1700 on Tim’s testing. I can’t wait until torque test channel gets a hold of one of these bad boys
but now DeWalt released another high torque impact (DCF961) that's yet to be tested by Tim. I would like to see them compared
@@engineer_alv if the new dewalt beats the Milwaukee by 200 ft lbs the Milwaukee is still going to be extremely impressive due to the size of the Milwaukee and the weight

The battery isolator looked like it was doing the exact opposite to me it looked like it was shaking the hell out of it maybe it's just shaking with no force behind it I don't know
It’s nice but do I need it…? I’m a material handler tech and I’m not sure I would have a use for it but you know I’m gonna buy it anyway.
According to the manual if you put mode 4 it excels even more for busting out nuts so it potentially can do more damage
Tim, Do you think Milwaukee will make a second generation of the M12 Stubby adding similar features such as the triple led light ring, more power, and kitting it with an XC5.0 High Output battery pack?
I hope not for a while…I’m extremely happy with the current one so if they release a new one I can’t help but buy it. Milwaukee got me in a very deep ditch with my credit cards already. 😂😂😂
@@DownloaderVideo I probably would too lol!
The King Of Cordless is back
I wish you would've tested the actual torque that it applied in mode 4 on the last two nuts to see if it actually applied 50 ft lbs.
Cannot wait for TTC to try those batteries and compare 'em

Is there going to be a 3/4 Version of this 2967 that would be nice to replace my one key 1/2 and my one key 1/2 extended anvil and my one key 3/4 anvil 24:53 @Shop Tool Reviews
Great test, numbers are really impressive! It should have 3/4 anvil for sure, and I think you should test it against makita xgt 3/4 high torque, it would be interesting to see since they cost around the same.
Perfect timing my 2767 is on its last leg after 5 years and 5000 plus semi-tire changes which it was not designed to do LOL
TTC is going to go BANANAS with this thing!
Lol I’m looking forward to tha
Uhmmm...they already have, it made around 1/3rd of the torque it did here in 15 seconds opposed to 10. 2400ft lbs jist seems way high for any 1/2 gun, Im honestly not sure the anvil could do that without shattering.
@@aussiehardwood6196 Uhhh NO HE DID NOT. The video he made 2 months ago only featured the specs. He did not have the Forge Battery nor the 2967 on hand. Look at the video again.

Just got one thanks for the excellent review. Got a free deep well socket set with it. I'm new to working on cars and if I had known I would get a free deep socket set I might have got this sooner but thats ok I assume it never hurts to have duplicate sockets because this looks like it has a lot of torque.

I wish they had that battery isolator for other tools, or maybe something that could just slip in as a plug and play adapter intermediary thing.

How does the xc6.0 high output compare to the Forge?
They should be within 15-20% in power output
