Hi Kate. I live in the UK and just wanted to say I really, really like your videos. Really helpful and practical advice. , with evidence of research too. I know you are based in the USA but great to have you to hand through RUclips! Keep up the great work and thank you.
I just got out of the hospital - thought it was the heart.... but it wasn't.... my cortisol levels were quite low (12) but that number is meaningless unless you know what the optimum levels should be. I have yet to find a video that describes this facet... perhaps you could shed some light? Greatly appreciated!
Optimum levels of cortisol vary greatly throughout the day! That's why the best way to test is by urine or saliva multiple times per day - not just a blood draw.
I have low cortisol in saliva test. 5 tests in all day. 3 below range, 2 at lowest range. Dr suggest Addison disease but I know that this happened after very long chronic stress (3 year). I dont want to go for hydrocortison. I would like to test Licorice and Rhodiola rosea to raise cortisol and check how I feel
Hi Dr. Kate. Thank you so much for your insightful video. I had some blood work done and my doctor jas diagnosed that I have low cortisol levels based on both cortisol and ACTH blood tests. He is recommending I get an MRI scan of the pituitary gland. I just wanted your thoughts on this course of action as the idea of an MRI doesn't help my already high anxiety levels 😢
Your doctor just wants to rule out anything structural that could be causing these elevations - I fully support it. And an MRI is non-invasive, so no worries there. Once they rule out anything serious, you can start implementing some of the strategies in this video!
Excellent video , thank you for reminding everyone stress is not in our heads, we know when something is wrong, my GP’s still don’t understand even after me having half my thyroid removed due to hashimotos autoimmune, now on HRT for low everything even testosterone, I have histamine issues struggle to tolerate most things even foods, I’m on T3 low doses cos uk docs are scared of it, my cortisol (all 5points) and dhea levels are all low , is this why I can’t loose weight and why I’m tired and dizzy a lot and just can’t tolerate even mirror stresses?
@ thanks so much for your reply Dr Kate, I feel so overwhelmed by all this, I also have Mercury filling toxicity to deal with too, but I just don’t know what to focus on and managing all of these issues is so hard especially by myself cos my GP just doesn’t understand so I feel like a rabbit staring into the headlights
My grandfather has low cortisol which is 3.55 I am really worried about him he is 84years old and also he goes for washroom many timss i had gone to hospital they said to check at other place called endocrinology Can you please help me out i will be grateful From-INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳
I’ve read that Adrenal Glandulars should only be taken for a short period of time and that they are not meant to be taken for a longer period of time. I took mine from Allergy Research Group last year form 5 months with 1 capsule per day and stopped for 2 months. Then I took them again for almost 5 months until I researched that they should not be taken for a longer period.
I couldn’t find any information at all online about the specific low ranges of cortisol. It’s oddly missing. Even on individual lab results there are no flags for low cortisol. For example a test result of 0.5 cortisol has no flags or specifics on how bad it might be. The lack of info and priority will keep many suffering from getting treatment or follow up.
That depends on many factors, but I can confidently say that a whole-food diet that avoids ultraprocessed foods and focuses on adequate protein, healthy fats, and fiber is always a good idea for supporting the HPA Axis!
Hello I have sjogrens Hashimotos polymyalgia rumatica osteoarthritis one other autoimmune disorder can’t think. Allergies to rag weed grasses and weeds what can I safely use. Thank you
As long as blood pressure isn't a problem for you, any of the supports in the trio should be appropriate - but I'd make sure that you're dealing with low cortisol first. 👍🏼 Here's a link to the supports: us.fullscript.com/plans/drkateld-cortisol-supportive-nutraceuticals

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to include your doctor in that decision-making process!

Hormones are SO COMPLICATED - I'm sure your fatigue and weight loss resistance is being impacted by cortisol AND thyroid AND autoimmunity.

I have a few strategies in my cortisol support user guide: check it out here - www.drkateld.com/cortisol-support-user-guide-sign-up

I go on a case-by-case basis with adrenal glandulars - and monitor hormone levels, too.
What do you have when you have a sensitivity to stimulants, is the cortisol too high or low in the body?
Hard to say - that's why we measure cortisol before treating it!
I'm suffering from light headedness 24/7. Is this due to low cortisol levels or something else? Please tell me about solution
Could be cortisol issues! Best first step is testing - here's my suggested at-home test kit: www.drkateld.com/adrenocortex-testing

It's definitely not talked about enough - I agree!
I was tested and have low cortisol levels.. what’s the best diet to support that??

Can men also take DIM ?
Absolutely!
So.... Is that why my protein shake (which contains licorice root) made me wired when i went to bed 😅
Could certainly be!
