    Song details:
The sources about this song are various. Some say it originated from a folk song, some others say that it was written by Pushkin or some other poet in support of the Decembrists, others think that it was created by a student choir imprisoned in the Peter and Paul Fortress, but the most probable is that it originated around 1870 as an anthem of Narodnaya Volya (which means "People's Will", so the title makes sense) which was a revolutionary socialist organization that tried to overthrow the Tsarist system, in methods far more radical than the ones used by the other political organizations of that era.

Cheers to the glorious organization of Narodnaya Volya and the Narodnik movement! I'm sure that their cause was not solely the assasination of the Tsar or overthrowing the Tsarist regime, nor even a revolution. Far from it! Narodnism was a fiery response to a stagnant and sleeping world, unchanging circumstances for centuries, boring and suffocating docility, the vicious cycle of humiliation and subjugation in the name of ''tradition'', ''values'', ''morality''; moreover a passionate desire for change, awakening, dynamism, bravery, wilderness, stubbornness, and the brutal and bloody destruction of currently existing world- not only the Tsardom, but every existing state of things along with it.

Honoring Herzen, we clearly see three generations, three classes, who acted in the Russian revolution. First- the nobles and landowners, the Decembrists and Herzen. The circle of these revolutionaries is narrow. They are terribly far from the people. But their case is not lost. The Decembrists woke up Herzen. Herzen launched a revolutionary agitation. It was picked up, expanded, strengthened, tempered by the raznochin revolutionaries, starting with Chernyshevsky and ending with the heroes of Narodnaya Volya. The circle of fighters has become wider, their connection with the people is closer. "Young navigators of the future storm," Herzen called them. But it wasn't the storm itself yet. The storm is the movement of the masses themselves. The proletariat, the only revolutionary class to the end, rose at their head and for the first time raised millions of peasants to open revolutionary struggle. The first onslaught of the storm was in 1905...

В другой версии звучит "Пусть мы...", судя по всему автор и взял субтитры к видео из более распространенного текста

@@randomitalian , probably it was just a mistake during recording. This is generally a common phenomenon when one or two words change due to consonance

Ironic that this song was very likely sung by people fighting in the revolution in Russia. Signing about freedom they were never gonna see, freedom they were dooming by their own actions

This song has nothing in common with the Bolsheviks, it was sung by the Socialist Revolutionaries, people who really fought for the freedom of Russia in the civil war and long before it
