Honestly these audiobooks are awesome. It's become harder for me to focus on older literature because of the way it's written but hearing it read aloud makes it much easier to understand and focus on. Plus I get to listen while working on othet things or trying to sleep

On my first trip to sea we arrived at western Samoa. The fourth engineer, Alec, pointed to a hill and said, "Robert Louis Stephenson is buried there". A year later I was in Edinburgh, New Town, with my girlfriend Lynn. Being drunk, I managed to fall on my back. Bang. Exactly. I myself write short stories that are sometimes published in small magazines and this reader, in my opinion, is reading the story in precisely the way that the author would have wished. In Victorian times many authors, as well as poets, considered the way their words would sound, not just how the they would appear on the printed page, and even tried to dictate the way in which the reader would hear those words in his mind, so as to create a sort of dialogue. You could almost say this is Stevenson’s voice, although he probably had a Scots accent.
Tyler Charles Year 11 As an educated English speaker whose profession involves words I can assure he is reading the story in the way the author intended. Google, in it’s present stage of development, could not translate this accurately.
I’ve read Stevenson’s classic tales more than a dozen times- such a great read. I love this audiobook; the narrator’s voice is superb and his precise pronunciation of each word is powerfully skillful. I have been enchanted with this audiobook. Tremendous!
This was amazing. Like most people, I've known of this story most of my life; I've just never taken the time to read or listen to the book. What an amazing study of the duality of man. What blows me away the most is the author's use of the English language. It truly is a thing of beauty.

I very much enjoyed it. I had trouble reading on my own so I went looking for the audio and came across your video and with my teachers summary I was able to pause each time and truly absorb the situation, the difficulty jeckyll was facing. His belief that two entities exist within one, good and bad. He dreamt of tearing the two apart pleasing both sides but sparing only one (the better half jeckyll) from judgement of society. What started out as an adventure to escape the ties and responsiblity of Dr. Jeckyll quickly turns into a suicidal nightmare as Mr. Hyde spiral's out of control. One could easily compare it too a drug addiction, and with each dose Mr. Hyde grew stronger and was able too, at will, leave the confines of his own prison inside Dr. Jeckyll. In books such as Dracula the monster is killed and society is saved. But what happens when the monster is inside of us? In the end good and evil were only one in the same; unsure of how to resolve the situation Dr. Jeckyll took his own life to slay the monster within.
SkyBlue I am in the same situation right now. I am taking my exams this year and my English teacher wanted my class to re-read Jekyll And Hyde. A very special and utterly relaxing voice, with its slow cadance and just a tad lower pitch than average (if I say that right), I like listening to this voice actor very much and I want to thank him for making this recording of his maybe as far as I and concerned best reading of this famous book of all I know. Thank You!
Thus is such a brilliant book! I listened to this while following the book and got through it in about 2hrs and 30mins by putting it at 1.5x the speed.
This was one of the first classic literature books I had ever read which led me down a rabbit hole of Frankenstein, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights ah what a time to be in during these books first publishings. I bet these books blew the minds of many.
Considering Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and (to some extent) Pride and Prejudice were all deviations to polite society. In their own ways, each novel rebelled against the upper crust of Regency and Victorian England. Readers were very bewildered at Wuthering Heights in particular. Many called it savage and depraved. In our time, the subject matters of these books are quite common place. Truly different times entirely.
At first I didn't enjoy the book but as I read more, I fell in love with it! I'm soon going to be working on a essay for this book, I'm so happy my teacher introduced me to this book! :D I absolutely love this audiobook recording!
I'm so glad I found this! I've been wanting to read this book for years but opportunity and ability are fleeting. I got to listen while I worked! I love the sound of the narrator's voice. So smooth.

I am because of we. I found this audiobook because it's October/autumn & it's that spooky time of year, the narrator was so incredible I paused it, ordered the book received it today & am following along by candlelight- life is astonishing, thank you
This was SOOO good!!!
Thank you so much to the author of this amazing literature piece and also to the man who read it. I really enjoyed my time.
Hope you have a great day❤
A very special and utterly relaxing voice, with its slow cadance and just a tad lower pitch than average (if I say that right), I like listening to this voice actor very much and I want to thank him for making this recording of his maybe as far as I and concerned best reading of this famous book of all I know. Thank You!
Thus is such a brilliant book! I listened to this while following the book and got through it in about 2hrs and 30mins by putting it at 1.5x the speed.
I've put it in 2x!
This is my third read of 2021! Thanks for the excellent listen!
THANK YOU!... this has really helped my revise DR Jekyll and MR Hyde!

@@dickp9486 Ha! Oh for goodness sake.
this audio saved my life
I normally don't like audiobooks but this was fantastic! Thank you so much for your hard work, this made me love the story even more.

Had to read this for school, much better. Now I can play video games and *read* a book. Thanks.
thats some mad multi-tasking skills you got
No, you just think you can. Comprehension goes way down.
@@brianjoseph2303 oh shut up
Not a good idea
im not the only one who listen to books while playing video games
At first I didn't enjoy the book but as I read more, I fell in love with it! I'm soon going to be working on a essay for this book, I'm so happy my teacher introduced me to this book! :D I absolutely love this audiobook recording!
I'm so glad I found this! I've been wanting to read this book for years but opportunity and ability are fleeting. I got to listen while I worked! I love the sound of the narrator's voice. So smooth.
I’ve felt without culture for not having read the classics. Thus, I looked this up and listened in a sort of sanitized joy.
I'm here because I love classic literature.
Audiobook because the public library closed. I think I'm gonna be up all night this is so exciting!!

if I listen while I sleep does that count as reading the book?
No, not at all. Subliminal learning is just a myth. You actually have to pay attention
Wonderful! Thanks a lot! It helped me to read the short story with pleasure!
You have a very beautiful voice!

I didn't have to read this book for any college or school assignments, I read it because a friend suggested it to me and i am glad he did. I would like similar suggestions about books which are less than 200 pages and is still good literature. If any of you have any suggestions I would be really pleased to hear
Unfortunately I don’t believe this book is as short as you’d like, but the Picture of Dorian Gray is quite interesting!
The Great Gatsby definitely and my personal favourite the Metamorphosis at a mere 40 something
Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe, a collection of most all of Poe's short stories.
I recommend “Treasure Island “ as well. Great book 📖
Im glad i decided to give this a listen.
Start of chapter 3 is at 37:25 :)
Sophia Flowerfield lol the second word on chapter 3 is FORTNITE
ButtCancer it means “2 weeks”
have to read this for my GCSEs
So funny people complianing about reading this when they aren't even reading
@Carter Pease I like to read if i enjoy reading it. My logic atleast
Thanks so much for this! Been meaning to getting around to reading/listening to this forever.
Is that an original book jacket? The picture of a lighthouse for guidance, is heartfelt!
If it wasn’t for a lighthouse where would this vessel be in the turmoil? Shattered on the rocks! You must look and SEE that light!
Best reading of this book on RUclips.
