    I just started powerlifing 3 years ago. I wish you lived closer. I bust my ass and I now have 2 state records in deadlifts for the USPA. The problem is my body has been through the meat grinder. I rode bulls for 7 years, been ejected from a truck, did motorcross for a while, and a bunch of other stupid stuff. I have broke almost everything but I'm too dumb to quit lifting and want more records but I have to find that mixture that doesn't leave me out for weeks at a time. Your videos have helped a lot. Keep up the good work.

      I started doing this last year at my gym as a warmup and the owner saw me doing it day after day so when I eventually asked him if he had any work for me, he said “I don’t at the moment, but if you come in and keep cleaning up before you work out, I’ll trade you a free membership.”

    Thanks for sharing some fine tips and knowledge. I am 74 and do basic split workouts of deadlift, squat, bench, standing dumbbell press, occasional romanians. Have ripped or damaged my left rotator twice: once at 19 in the Navy doing left handed arm wrestling (the joint was impinged: laying on floor) and at 68 on a last set of the workout doing close grip bench and went out of position towards my feet, i.e. wrong slant. I have watched some of your other videos and enjoyed learning how power lifters train using your methods. This was a great video.....I can't wait to try the Crossbody Chain Triceps movement. I could see the effectiveness of that movement. My chains will be a lot smaller, haha.

  • @brianhickey5949
    @brianhickey5949 3 года назад +16

    Yep - every day at the gym: put the dumbbells back, stack the plates in order, pick up bands and boards, find the back roller, find the right bar, etc. Nice idea for the shoulders, I usually hang. I get the fan - need a spray bottle :) Excellent idea with the triceps and the chains - I gotta try this today! And for comments - hell yes, I love these and I am a washed up meathead! Only thing is I don't recognize that "washed up" part :)

    Dave - I apologize as yesterday I thought this was Juji's channel; however now I realize elitefts is your channel!!
    I've studied everything you've put out since 2007, way back to the Testosterone Nation days. I always loved your realism and no bull shit spin on things. Also your passion and intensity I love. When you are talking...I am listening.
    Thank you for this great content and everything you've done over the years. Guys like you really helped shape me into the man I am today, as I really looked up to you and others like you in my early manhood years and it's paid off exponentially.
    Regards - Marine Mike 💪

      @@joeleadbetter9041 Because I lost touch with him after T NATION days around 2010 and just didn't realize this was his company as all I read was his articles that talked about life and lifting, not his businesses. Heard of Elitefts over the years...never made the connection.

    All fantastic tips, but the most important tip for lifting and every other aspect of life was the last one: vet who you listen to and make sure they know what they're talking about :) And in general, somebody like Dave who straight up says to vet him as well and think about whether or not you want to listen to him is probably going to be a lot more knowledgeable and trustworthy than somebody who demands that you listen only to them and take them on faith.

    Yoooooo, those auto-retracting barbell racks in the power cage during Dave's shoulder saver demonstration look amazing. What an awesome idea for innovating on power rack design. I wish my gym had these. Unracking the weight is the most annoying part about benching without a training partner and these would solve that problem.

    As a 53 year old meat head, I just want to see if I can coast into my 70’s with the knowledge, being metabolically healthy, relatively pain and injury free but still bring the power from lifting some weights three days a week, walking, therapy/physio and stretching properly and I’m good.
    Toss in some of this intermittent fasting and a little Keto and it’s Viking status.
