      What kinda person would stoop to this level deception & manipulation to orchestrate a plan to get ppl on the island, knowing the peril he just put them ALL in!

    Eddie is, IMO, one of the most heroic characters in the Jurassic series. Drove straight towards two t-rexes, honking his car horn, which made them take their baby back to the nest and gave him time to secure a rope for his team, then when the rexes came back, he never took his foot off the gas or tried to ditch the car.
    This is a depiction of heroism the new movies are missing, Alan Grant helping kids he doesn't know and Eddie Carr giving his life not because they're trained Navy Seals or they want to atone for some past sin, but because they're genuinely good people in a bad situation doing their best.

    She is supposed to be an expert in the behavior of predators and it's mentioned how far away the T'rex can pick up a scent from yet she is still wearing a jackwt covered in the blood of the baby T'rex. So much for expertise.

    • @UpYourArsenal
      @UpYourArsenal 4 месяца назад +3

      While always questioning why she kept the bloody jacket - I never got past the fact she wanted to touch the young Stego and a scene later is griping about only being there to observe - so I didn't even consider her being a 'behavioral expert'... Turns out being educated, or book smart, does not directly translate to being wise, or experienced.

    • @ryanncarter9086
      @ryanncarter9086 Месяц назад

      I always assumed she kept the jacket on purpose to screw over the EnGen people, knowing the T-Rex would eventually show up and cause chaos. I don’t think she expected the T-Rex to be able to sneak into camp without no one at all noticing tho, but that’s more on EnGen cause they literally should have had multiple people on watches throughout the night.

    There's actually a scene that got cut from the movie where Ludlow was drunk (Celebrating capturing the dinosaurs) and he fell on the baby T-rex and broke its leg (It wasn't Roland who did it). And at the end of the movie, the adult T-rex breaks Ludlow's leg (While pulling him off the stairs in the ship's cargo hold) and then lets the baby T-rex finish Ludlow off. It's poetic justice, if you think about it.
    Also, at 26:15, the part where the compy bites and tugs on Dieter's lip was actually improvised by the actor himself. And the glasses guy at 37:02 who gets snatched by the T-rex is the movie's screenwriter David Koepp! :)

    24:20, Yeah, people know about velociraptors specifically because of Jurassic Park, so people IN the narrative not knowing about them makes sense. Add to that most times private armies like these are just ex soldiers taking a job, so them not knowing much of anything makes more sense.

    A character in the film's universe wouldn't necessarily know what a Velociraptor is at that time. WE know about Raptors to the degree that we do because of the first Jurassic Park book and film.
    These people are living the events. And knowledge of the disaster at the Park is sparse and need-to-know at the time of this film.

  • @peterkoester7358
    @peterkoester7358 4 месяца назад +4

    In the original Jurassic Park novel, the character of John Hammond was portrayed very differently; exceedingly mean to those in his employ and obsessed with money - not the kindly grandfather as portrayed in the film - and the novel character suffered the same fate as Dieter did in this film: being overwhelmed and eaten alive by Compsognathus as everyone else was evacuating Isla Nublar.
    Likewise, Ian Malcolm died in the first novel, but Jeff Goldblum's portrayal of the character was so popular the studio demanded he be in the sequel. As a result, when Michael Crichton wrote the second novel, he re-introduced Malcolm paraphrasing Mark Twain saying, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

    what I love about this film is that it all goes back to Malcolms chaos theory from the 1st movie. So many little things and the dominos fall. Malcolms rush shaved off 3 days off eddies deadline making them not able to fully test and prep the gear. idk how prepared you can be if they didn't even know they were going to dino island lol. Not to mention ingen would've gotten there before they left if they kept the old schedule meaning they could've gotten all the animals they wanted off the island by the time they got there. Who knows what would've happened to sarah. Kelly sneaking on to the trip. We can't interact but sarah interacts showing how defensive/territorial the animals are. Also sarah took eddies camera instead of the one she had, so theoritically she could've gotten out the nest scott free further enhancing her ego i would say and not having the fear/respect towards the dinos. Nick seeing sarah interact so he decided to save/nurture the baby. the groups sabotage of the hunter camp cutting off all future communication, so they have to head into raptor territory to find some. Them moving the infant cause he rex's territory to expand. Sarah keeping the bloody jacket further elevated it as the rexs obviously are gonna investigate the blood scent as its their infant. Nick taking the shells from Rolands gun, causing the huge amount of deaths, when in theory if roland got the shot off the other rex probably would've left after its partner died ending the "attack" which wasn't an attack. Dang I forgot about rolands 2nd in command deeter, yeah him messing with the compy speaks for himself, if he never did that he never would've separated and no search party would've been sent out meaning roland would've been there at the camp the whole time, maybe he would've known the rex's were tracking them.

    Since no one has mentioned this...
    During the T-Rex going wild in San Diego scenes, look again at the posters at the Blockbuster store. You'll see made up movie posters with real actors names and faces. Tsunami Sunrise starting Tom Hanks, Jack and the Behnstack staring Robin Williams, and King Lear staring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
    Also screenwriter, David Koepp, makes a cameo while T-Rex is still rampaging. He's the guy running away from the T-Rex and can't get into the building with the locked doors. Then the T-Rex eats him.
    And lastly, Mr Steven Spielberg makes a quick cameo. When Malcolm and Sarah are asleep on the couch, after the whole T-Rex San Diego rampage. On the right side of the TV, when the news is mentioning the T-Rex being shipped back to the Isla Sorna, you'll see a very quick, blink and you'll miss it, pic of Steven Spielberg wearing a blue and white jacket.
    Since Steve Spielberg totally changed the ending from the book, looks like during the San Diego portion, they just decided to have fun with it. Not sure why these Easter Eggs were placed, other than to join in on the fun.

    • @scottb3034
      @scottb3034 4 месяца назад +1

      @@mikewhite6138 That's not it at all. Crichton chose the name because one of the sources he used for the novel was a book by Greg Paul a famed paleo artist. At the time Paul tried to make a practice catch on that grouped very similar species under one genus name. Velociraptor mongoliensis was discovered decades before Deinonychus antirrhopus so he chose to rename Deinonychus as Velociraptor and make it Velociraptor antirrhopus.
      However by the time the novel was published--and especially by the time of the original movie--Paul abandoned his efforts. Spielberg chose to retain the novel classification because he thought it sounded better.

    32:40 "wow, you idiots" it's not mentioned in the movie but it's a subplot in the book that a prion disease akin to Mad Cow Disease/Creutzfeldt-Jakob is endemic to the dinosaurs on the island, so the dinosaurs in general and the Velociraptors in particular are all very young, unsocialized, and hyper-aggressive.
    However, an island of dinosaurs with brain damage and early onset dementia wouldn't have mixed well with John Hammond's message at the end that the dinosaurs would be fine if left to fend for themselves, which might be why it was discarded.

    YES!!
    BEST SEQUEL IN THE FRANCHISE!
    At first, I hated this movie because Alan Grant, Sam Neill, was not in the movie, as the actor was too busy working on EVENT HORIZON and the Merlin NBC Miniseries, both released in 1997.
    There's an extended version of the movie that airs in TV, with 2 deleted scenes that were filmed but cut:
    Peter Ludlow, John Hammond's nephew, takes control of INGEN, and has Hammond fired after the Isla Nublar Incident in 1993.
    Roland Tembo's original introduction where he meets up with an old friend of his Ajay Sindhu, in a bar in Mombasa, Kenya. He then beats the hell out of a rude tourist harassing the locals.
    Ajay then asks if Roland is interested in the expedition to Isla Sorna.
    Roland says, "Ajay, go up to my ranch, take a look around the trophy room, and tell me what kind of quarry you think could possibly be any interest to me."

    • @theeLonelyRedPanda
      @theeLonelyRedPanda 4 месяца назад +3

      Rolands monologue added so much to the film. Bc in a short span it sets up their history. Roland even went on to counter Ajs comment that they've always had great success which roland replies we were was a firing squad essentially it was to easy. There was no thrill, no challenge. That it was okay if the animal got away/won. Not enough escapes or close calls. Cut to later in the film you see how affected he is when he says Aj didn't make it, he got his trophy but at what cost.

Roland, the big game hunter is one of my favorite characters in this movie, he has a multi layered character arc and has depth even for the little screen time he has. Ludlow,'s death actually was similar to the book version of John Hammond's death In the Jurassic Park book. The book came first and the movie is adapted from it and in it, Hammond is a much worse person, similar to his nephew in this. The book is well worth a read as it's quite different overall from the movie, there's also a Lost World novel as well, but it was made to kind of tie in with the movie, but somehow the two are very different again.

      It certainly explains why the baby T-Rex was hissing and growling at him (Peter Ludlow) on the boat 🚢, and the father T-Rex most likely put two and two together that he was the cause of all the emotional and physical pain that their family had to endure for the past few days 🤔🙄😒🤨. Before Ludlow can escape from the cargo hold, he bites down onto his leg enough to make him bleed and likely have broken bones 🦴, in a whole lot of pain not too proud to beg for mercy 😏. And the baby T-Rex is given the honor of finishing off the little weasel, as the father T-Rex watches proudly at his little boy 🤗😉👍😌.

    The Hunter is a great character that has some deleted scenes that show him in a more positive light (defending a waitress from some rude men for example). He is more good guy than bad imo.

    24:22 The "velociraptors" in the Jurassic Park movies are not velociraptors: they are Deinonychus.

    • @scottb3034
      @scottb3034 4 месяца назад

      they are more of a frankenstein hybrid of dromaeosaurs with the closest analogue being Achillobator...NOT Deinonychus which is still too small.

      @@TonyTigerTonyTiger it is not the length it is the height. It is not nearly the height of the film animals and actually has way less mass as well. Achillobator is closest to all measurements.

    24:16 .. surprised because some people doesn't know velociraptors ? well .. there are 3 times more people doesn't even know where is India located in the map .. and some others think that Canada is in africa .. and they think Florida is a country .. so i don't think raptors are something more important to know lol
