    " Started at the bottom"
    Real Talk Ralliroots
    1.Bought Inventory without doing research ( 1:47)
2.Bought to much of the same product ( 4:00)
    3.Ran too many auctions ( 7:03)
    4.Not listing items fast enough ( 9:04)
5.Compare yourself to Bigger Seller (12:57)
Awesome gems. I definitely made these mistakes. Buying not researching. Also continuing to research even if you have experience is crucial.Check comps Daily!!! Looking at the numbers will save a lot of pain. Ryan I agree with the batch items at 20 item. I literally just went through this whole process you guys discuss. Ran auction on bottom 10% and focusing on specific items that fit my current business model. Great Video . This ensures me I'm on the right track. Thanks :)

Since hurricane Michael, hoisted a tree through the middle of our house, I no longer refer to my excess inventory as my "death pile". It has become my "life pile" because we survived devastation and I needed that inventory to get back up and running when so much of northern Florida was shut down. I am forever grateful for my "life piles."

Love your newly discovered videos. My mom passed away and I’ve been storing tons of things I couldn’t toss or just give away. Since I’m buried in things, I decided to start selling things not family-related. Since my siblings also died last year, I’m just sitting on these things.
Anyway, I started researching how to sell and ran across you guys. Thanks for your smart and friendly videos. They mean a lot to me.. who knows, maybe I can supplement my income following in your footsteps. You’re good folks… Thanks.

My husband and I recently started reselling and, in doing our research, I ran into your channel. This is a fantastic topic and, truth be told, we have made these five mistakes in one month's time. I wanted to tell you that we are very grateful that you are giving your time to share your experiences with us and we know that our journey as resellers will be made easier because of you. Thank you!

We've been selling a little over 2 years. While we do both Amazon + ebay, it was trial and error with ebay. Our biggest mistakes were: 1. Not taking our time to learn the selling process - understanding fees, shipping costs of each item. 2. Buying things on "emotion" - we bought items we "thought" people would like or that we liked. 3. Not doing research on the item to see how many are listed and what they sell for. 4. POOR photos. We didn't take time to include info buyers look for - material, measurements. Now that we live in an RV, we buy items that sell quick and we list everything immediately.

Love you 2 young beautiful, soooo smart, generous people! I am 78 yrs young and have been selling on. eBay for 10 months. We were going to have an estate sale until we learned how much money/ % the estate sellers charged. Then I had an “Idea” started an eBay and began watching Ralli Roots. Of course I have made all 5 mistakes and more! I also love the hunt, have a Hugh death pile and hate returns but the challenges are fantastic, I think they keep me young! The results from my eBay sales have by far exceeded what our return on an estate sale would have been. Thank You For All You Do For All Of Us.!! I am off to list..💕💕

I am 57 started selling on eBay this month and made some money, this is in preparation to sell the house in say 5 years. There are so many things we collect over the years which was unnecessary. At least by selling on eBay the things are getting a good home.

We are relatively new to Ebay selling. I made a mistake that we both (my wife and I) will never make again!! I made some wooden crates as Christmas presents to family members. One I day I thought I'd list one starting the bidding process at $2.00 (thinking people would bid on them)...One person put a bid in for $2.45 and that was who won the bid. It cost us $30.00 just to ship it. Moral of the story DO NOT always use Ebay's suggested price and do not click "free shipping" until you find out what it cost to ship the item.

I have been learning from your videos! However I was given 12 paper bags of clothing from a client who wanted me to resell what I could. First I pulled out no name generic blank solid color not special in any way clothing. Cheaper quality etc...then I pulled out things that ebay has flooded listings of. Last I am left with 8 bags,, some designer clothes and a lot of interesting clothing that is unique. So I will list it all as it was FREE. This will be a good experiment. I do look up brands and the sold listings for final pricing and how many sold in a short time. I look at the things you have mentioned in your videos. Lately things have been given to me so its going to be fun to see what sells! Thank you so much for all your info and I really appreciate the sharing of your mistakes! We all make them and its refreshing to see a video discussing this in order to save others from making the same ones. You two rock!!!

Now I am building a few channels to sell from home and once I have my net income after expenses and tax of 4-5K per month then I will look at a warehouse to run from and my plan is to buy a 3 or 4 unit building and have someone else pay my mortgage because I hate paying rent...lol Great content and you are right the sourcing is so much fun that I have a death pile I am working thru now for the next month, no more buying, maybe we will see...lol Have a great sales week, Joe Bee from Canada! Thank you so much for this video- and all of your content,of course, but especially this video. I needed this today for no other reason than the helladays are stressful and I've run into a good bit of discouragement dealing with the demands and scams of the season. Its been a rough one ,one when the grind has felt not worth it,especially when you're grinding it out alone. You remind, though,of why I do this. Because I love it. I've been doing this for a long time- way longer than it's been a thing,a thing with a name and legitimacy. ( it used to just be hustling-honest hustling but hustling all the same). And I continue to do this because I'm good at it. And getting better at it every day. I think that's something too many people cannot say. That they are good at what they do and they love it. So thank you for reminding me of that today - along with things to do and not to do- of why I do what I do. And for reminding me that the "death pile" of 50 or so items in my spare bedroom won't list themselves. ;) And on that note I'm going to get back to the grind. Thanks again for all that you do.
    Much peace and love

Good job Cole. Set up a Fidelity account and stash some small amount of every sale away to permanently capture a percentage of your profits. This diversifies you a bit and this can be very powerful over a long period of time. Don't roll every penny back into reselling. Take and stash a little profit on every sale. Think of it as a casino game and don't give back all your winnings to the house. Thanks Rally Roots I am a full time seller since 2006 (2nd child came along). I am usually too busy slaying it to check in...but, love y'all. Ok a few pointz here,
    1. Stay out of my head Google! I started back up again as a seller on ebay. I've always watched Raken when I stopped ebay to keep myself educated. I made a small haul, listed and thought to myself, I haven't watched a Rally Roots video in over a year! I wonder what that pretty lady with the blue tips and her awesome husband are up to? Then BAM! Rally Roots video magically pops up. I didn't even speak Rally Roots and here we are lol.
    2. Ally, I didn't think you could get any prettier. Good Gawd lady, you are so gorgeous! And your hair looks amazing
    3. Thank you for the videos and education. I thought I was done with Ebay but Raken, Craigslist hunter and you guys brought me back to the game.
    Have a great week!

For me what others call death piles I call my saving piles. Living in northeast, there are no garage sales, flea markets, outside sales from end of October through March so I need inventory. Items that are high end but need work, cleaning, maybe a part replaced, they also go on the back burner for when I have time or when I have less opportunities to thrift. I know this goes against the advice of many, but for me, my Saving Piles work well.

I LOVED this video...felt like I was sitting down for a one on one with my mentors :-). Mistakes....tick, tick, tick, tick and tick ! Totally relate. STILL learning and you guys have helped me so much. I was just wondering the other day what is the best way to deal with all the excess non selling old stock I have, and you answered that question too. It's SOOO hard to not get lost in the moment when we source - but I'm slowly learning to be more selective. it takes TIME. Thank you SOOOOOOO much for this advice. Hope you do more of these vids. Love you guys !! Could you do a video that explains all the jargon (ie click through rates etc ) that some of us, like myself, are totally new to...and show us how to research better???

I had a "Real Job?" that I didn't have time to sell part time at ALL!! So THANKS guys!! You content is Great & I am Grateful for your enthusiasm & being upfront & honest in your vids. Keep it up!! I always enjoy you two kids. When I started in 1977 no internet to help us out. With so many reselling “experts” and “professors” on RUclips there is a lot of folks just out for the Patreon an RUclips money. They post videos that cover the same things they did 6 months ago just for the algorithm. And to be honest they are just fake and phony folks you can see though as an old timer. But you two a real genuine pair! You have the same passion I did 40 years ago. I can see it in your faces that you really enjoy and get excited. Keep up the great work!

My rules are simple look at sold list on Ebay. 2nd always put yourself in the costumer shoes and look at from there point of view. Then try to do best you can do no cuting connor's. Then check on active too. Hi and low markets.

I think another mistake new sellers make is staying in their comfort zone. It really pays off to try & buy new things that you never would have thought about selling. Just make sure you do your research first!

One of the things I recently learned by having many unlisted items laying around the house is that their value isn’t worth my time. After realizing that I only buy thing that sells for $25+. I spend less time listing and more time finding good flips. I make slightly more with this approach. It also allows me to do the fun part more than the boring part.

It’s so true about buying items and not researching for clothing specifically. I resell clothing and jewelry, and when I started I purchased items I thought would sell really well without researching. I ended up taking most of my items to clothes mentor or sending them into Thred-up just to make some money back off of them and clear space. Market saturation is a big player on item sales too. I also don’t recommend buying anything that’s missing a tag or damaged - your resell rate is automatically going to be lower.
Another issue I had was not being patient. I wanted immediate sales when I started, but that’s not always the case. Its super exciting when you get that first sale and all you want is to keep that flow going. However, some items will sell at higher amounts if you just wait for the right buyer. It’s like those super expensive glasses you two sold recently. It may not have been a super quick turn around, but that specific item was just waiting for a certain buyer.
Thank you for all your videos!
