- 03.21.2021 | 9:15 AM | RIVERSIDE (CNS) - A man who allegedly shot and injured a Riverside County sheriff's deputy was found dead inside a Perris home Sunday after an hours- long standoff.
At around 9:15 a.m., deputies reported being fired upon while looking for a wanted suspect at a home in the 100 block of Bond Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. It was unclear if the deputies fired back.
One deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, prompting a call for backup.
Multiple sheriff's armored vehicles responded to the scene and were used to extract the deputies from the property where the shooting took place. The injured deputy was taken to a hospital, authorities said.
Authorities then established a perimeter around the residence where the suspect was barricaded and evacuated neighboring homes.
After several orders for the suspect to exit the home were made, deputies deployed a robot into the home.
"The robot located the adult male suspect deceased from a gunshot wound," said Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department. "A handgun was located at the scene."
Authorities did not say who shot the bullet that killed the suspect, whose identity was withheld.
An investigation into the shooting was underway and will be led by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office and aided by the sheriff's Force Investigations Detail.
Involved deputies will be placed on administrative leave during the investigation, sheriff's officials said.

Prayers from south eastern Australia for the police and everyone else involved
My prayer and thoughts go out to the Deputy and his family and God bless all police and there families.🇨🇦
They shouldve left the cop on the ground and let the prayers handle his health rather than a hospital.
@@selectiveapathy I see you're still upset over your arrest, conviction and lifetime registration at the local police station.
Why don't you spend some time praying that these deputy's won't be harmed to begin with. Or maybe send some of those prayers up to eradicate crime all together.
@@professor_thunder I agree with you also
The sheriff officers are stretched thin in this area, I live about 3 miles from where this crime took place and you as a citizen are the most at risk when the predatory criminals who live around here do their bad bad's...
Well it doesn’t look like it with a whole battalion at the crime scene..
@@TerpLord710 You must be geographicly challenged, as we as on probation. Ladies like you often take advantage of situations like that. Tell us more, you sound woke...
How do some of those cops pass their physicals?
Some of the ones you see aren’t Deputies. They are civilians that deal with parking violations or assist with traffic control
Funny how all the law enforcement is there for their own kind ,but when a civilian is
in distress ,you got nothing coming!
I don't know where you live but where I live they are on scene in less that 5 minutes.
No issues with that here. Maybe response for you is slower because of remarks like this ;)
Hmm wonder where the videos of them rescuing kids from cars, rescuing a felon from a car fire or even fucking getting burnt to save someone
@moreno valley news first sadly. I wish the department heads would do more to weed out the bad ones than wait until they do some shit against policy
Shooter dead.. Police Officer okay. Good news.
@moreno valley news first In that case lucky it was not you that gave the cop his admin leave.
@@garfieldsmith332 I hope this idiot above is being watched carefully online by the powers that be
@moreno valley news first You have a warped view. But I take it you live in the USA crime palace of the world. There are a few bad apples in a barrel of cops, but with criminals the whole barrel is bad. Safer in a world with cops than a world with none.
That’s a whole lotta cops wow
You don't mess with the brotherhood.
