Bringing back an old tradition that has been renewed, talented organist Joseph Peeples will be playing an organ selection piece which Piping Up! fans determined through a recent social media poll. The concert finale music selection will include all five organists-through the magic of modern technology-performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 3, mvt. 3 (Allegro) together using the same organ! The stream will also feature behind-the-scenes views and explanations of Temple Square organs and rehearsal spaces by the organists.
The new organ concert series, Piping Up: Organ Concerts at Temple Square, will stream at 12:00 p.m. MT on Wednesdays. Each concert will feature a different Tabernacle or Temple Square organist. A PDF of the organ concert programs will be posted online on the organ concert event page for all patrons who are interested: tabchoir.org/pipingup
(Please note: this event is filmed without an audience.)
Noon organ recitals have been a tradition on Temple Square for more than a century. The current pandemic has halted this tradition temporarily, but now via the internet the noon organ recitals will resume without an audience but with full COVID-compliant precautions. The five accomplished Tabernacle and Temple Square organists Richard Elliott, Andrew Unsworth, Brian Mathias, Linda Margetts, and Joseph Peeples will be featured in a new concert series. The concerts will be presented each week on Wednesday at 12:00 noon MT.

The Mathias piece was delightful! I can see why Brian likes it so much. And Dr. Howard is a gem, as always.

Not every musician likes the sound of the Pipe Organ but i do..The highlight of the playing is not just in the 2-3 manual keyboards but also the use of the foot pedal which serves as a piano. The player has got to have the musical ear to be able to use the feet to play the keyboard pedal and it adds beauty and bass support to the organ
