    Bernie Williams might be one of the most underrated and underappreciated Yankees player of all time. He needs to be the 5th member of the core 4, without him we don't win!

    Not having Mattingly's HR here is a disgrace. That HR was stadium shaking. It got so loud and crazy that seattle manager sweet Lou had to pull his team off the field until things settled down.

      Tony Olson I hear you, it will always feel like the Yanks gave that game 7 away. The thing is, that was the only game in Arizona that they had a chance to win. The games in NY were all close and as much as I hate to admit it, the D- Backs outplayed the Yanks in the series. Besides that horrible bottom 9th, what I remember mostly about game 7 was when Soriano came up in the top of the 8th I said out loud, " Come on baby, crank one outa here". On the next pitch he did and me and my fellow Yankee buddy, high fives each other and figured it was in the bag with Mo Rivera coming in. Oh well.

    • @angeloposeidon4100
      @angeloposeidon4100 7 лет назад +6

      It's the greatest. Dont let Gonzalez' roids ruin it. Games 4 and 5 are the stuff of legends we had just won 3 years straight and have won since then, yes it was a hurtful ending but those 3 postseason series are too amazing and too much a part of my childhood to be tainted by the fact we lost game 7. The story is so good and we won so many other years it almost doesn't matter. Rejoice in the 01 yanks. They are like the spartans at the Hot Gates. What they did was just so amazing and then they died. Long Live 2001.

    • @jonnie106
      @jonnie106 6 лет назад

      I feel you. To get through the day though, I just bill it as, 'the greatest world series I ever saw... that the Yankees didn't win'. Great thing about baseball is, after the W or L, it's about coming back the next day, next series, next season.
      And in 2018, we're baaaaack! Go Yankees!!

    • @billny33
      @billny33 6 лет назад

      I agree that it was the most insane, otherworldly homerun I can ever recall. But Boone's was awfully close because of all the curse connections. Even if it wasn't quite as urgent of a situation.

    • @stripervince1

      donny baseball was loved but had nothing to do with the dynasty. the "core 4" were Jeter posada Bernie and andy and mo..thats 5. plus oniell wettland and a whole shitload of others. matter of fact Mattingly was a mediocre player who had 2 or 3 very good years. I do think he should have been next in line after Torre and before gerardi for manager though. he got screwed on that deal. that's why he followed Torre to la.

    • @dollarrecordswithjosh795

    • @stripervince1
      @stripervince1 8 лет назад

      Josh Done yeah. yanks won nothing in the 80s. Mattingly played in one post season game in his career that they lost. he had a relatively short career. good solid player with 2 great years 84-85. when he didn't get the managers job he bolted to Los Angeles with torre. he was well liked, just not hall of fame material
