It's not a war crime the first time 😂
The series takes place in a parallel world, but one with similarities to ours at the same timeframe. This is a banger of a series, easily up there for me with Overlord.
And yes, the ED is sung by Tanya's VA, Aoi Yuuki.
I love Tanya! If there was ever an anime needing a Season 2, it is this one. Gosh, now I feel the need for a re-watch.

Fun fact about the first opening, the name Jingo directly describes a major theme of the anime. A jingo is an extreme nationalist with a preference of warlike foreign policy by the way.
The pictures you see are from the mangas and light novels. It's usually the main character that does the ending theme song.
Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but it was the Va for Tanya that sings the Ed for the anime. :)
Love both opening and ending. Tanya looks cute in some of the pictures at the ending song.
There was an announcement for season 2, but that was a few years ago, so it got put on the back burner. =(
This is a war anime that deals with magic weaponry. Tanya's greatest enemy is God, whom she calls Being X.
Basically who put her in that suffering world, trying to make her a believer. All it's done is made her hatred burn brighter.
The ending song(done by Tanya's VA, the incredible Aoi Yuuki) has art done by the light novel artist. A few of them are volume covers. =)
If you wanna hear Aoi Yuuki's voice at its peak performance, listen to both endings of So, I'm A Spider, So What? It will blow your mind! How she hasn't damaged her voice is a miracle!

It's studio NUT, not Madhouse. This was it's first anime. The guy who founded it WAS a producer at Madhouse though, so there is a connection there

It's kinda sad that, the anime skips most of the explanation.
And literally skip an entire arc.
In this world it's a combination of World war 1, and world war 2 and ironically it's not the empire who started it but it's actually the allies (i forgot the anime version) On the sweden. When they started bombarding. Them
It was the Entente Alliance (Basically the Swedes and parts of Scandinavia) who marched over the Imperial Border on "disputed" land. It's actually stated, in the Novel and Manga, that the politicians back in the Entente Capital ordered that march because they were facing huge opposition back home and wanted to drum up some "patriotism" as capital to remain in power. However, the Empire retaliated against a military force marching over their border with guns and heavy armor (tanks) and that escalated after the Francois Republic declared war due to the "unjustified" attack against the Entente. And then the United Kingdom of Albion started supporting both the Republic and the Entente to cripple the Empire so they wouldn't become a hegemon of Europa...while the Empire just wanted to be left alone but kept winning because their enemies are IDIOTS.
