This is so beautiful and I'm in awe of how neat everything is on such a tight deadline - if I tried a dress in 8 days it would be a horror show on the inside
I love this! Pistachio ice cream... And hey, there are several extant gowns with inverted pleats like you did at first. 😉 Beautiful result - you did a fabulous job. Enjoyed watching you drape on the stand like that. And BRAVO to that fitting assistant!
Well done. The dress is stunning. And the filming that you did on-site is absolutely beautiful. I can't believe it came together so quickly. I've only been sewing for a year. I'm still at the multiple mock-up stage (on average 6 to 10 per project - all on a 1915 hand-crank, so... takes a while...) We're in a wee one bedroom apartment, so instead of a large cabbage patch bin I went for cutting up the left-overs and using them for stuffing a Zafu-style meditation pillow. And it works great - deeply pleated sides means you can really overstuff it. Took me less than a month to fill. I'm about to become notorious for giving out zafu cushions as gifts... Anyways. I ramble. Fantastic for you that you're giving talks now. Congratulations! - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
Thank you! One of the reasons I didn’t need to go through several mock ups is I choose a pattern I’d used before so I knew it would fit ☺️ That’s a great idea! I’ve got a little basket of scraps that I will use to stuff bumrolls or such! But it’s now overflowing so maybe stuffing cushions is the solution ☺️
@@LiljaHusmo After sending my second grocery bag full of scraps down the apartment garbage shoot... I knew I had to come up with a better solution. My solution is to make a cushion that sells for 60-80$ new. So far, it's working out great. I long to have patterns that I've already gone through the fit process with. I'm a 38FF, so me and full bust adjustments are still learning how to make friends. Until I get to the 'I kind-of know what I'm doing' stage I'm going to be making a whole bunch of zafus... And let me close by just saying this again, for emphasis - well, well, well done on doing demonstrations and talks to the public. That. That is huge. Congratulations.
What a gorgeous dress! I love the candy/ice cream vibes, and how cool is it that you're doing talks now! How do you go about planning an outfit like that? I'd love to see a video about the process of finding the right starting pattern and where to look for information about the styles of the time.
Subtitles will be edited ASAP!
They are now edited!
I absolutely love the sound of sharp shears cutting through fabric!
A little break in my Victorian sewing to make this 18th century gown! Hope you enjoy!

Thank you! 🥰
This is so lovely! Watching you cut toward what had already been sewn was nerve wracking. But this came out SO LOVELY!!!
Thank you! I didn’t even think of that! Glad I didnt accidentially cut my stays
You look so lovely in your dress! I like your excited anticipation during the make. You are so fortunate to have the perfect place to wear it! Bravo.
Thank you! I’m so happy I got to film it in an environment it would have been worn ☺️

Sandy should totally lean into the hair clip look. Great video!

That’s a great idea! Would need to sort my slightly chaotic research 😂 but would love to do something like that!
Oh no the ending!
Our studio lived luckily!
