If you listen to the whole interview he talks about mahomes being a product of the system as well. Doesn’t seem like bad analysis at all, but what do you expect from a homer? Brad, you stated all this nonsense about self scouting your coverage, this is reaching
I didn't think he said anything negative about brock and Im a niners fan and a Brock fan. Brady was a niners fan before he was drafted. I know he doesn't come out and say that he still is, but he knows so much about san francisco because he knows he still loves that team he just cant say it out loud. They passed on him and he won rings with other teams. Plus, hes a broadcaster now. Has to call it even.
Brady's analysis sounds good, with the exception of the 'exceptional line' comment. Trent is exceptional, Puni looks like a keeper, but the others have had a tough go of it thus far this year, including Banks, who I was high on going into this year. Now, Banks and Brendel have been playing better of late, but Colton has struggled at RT most of the season. The comment about Purdy being a 'point guard distributing' is not a slight. EVERY successful QB is a point guard on the field. There isn't any one man show in the NFL - the closest being Lamar Jackson, but he's not even close to being a one-man show.
I'm with you, Tom Brady underestimated Purdy when they faced each other back on December 11, 2022. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant and no one gave the guy a chance even when Purdy destroyed Brady 35-7 they said Brady wasn't in his prime anymore. Brady did side step the question by adding that Purdy is a game manager without saying it. He added that Purdy has a bunch of weapons that put him over the top. Purdy hit the NFL running and hasn't stopped even after the injury during his rookie year it did not stop him. Purdy recovered from injury during the off season and played excellent the following season. The man has gotten better with each year. This year 49ers are having a rough season so far with injuries and stand at 4-4 but I believe Purdy is still having one of the best seasons in his professional career. Remember Purdy has had more success as a rookie, 2nd, and 3rd year than other QB legends at the beginning of their careers and is one of the few quarterbacks to pull off success in his young career. Purdy is a seasoned college QB and now he's adjusted to the NFL play and will get better as he gets experience. Go 49ers!
I have always had that feeling too. Anytime I have heard Tom talk about him, there's like a salty undertone. Even when he commentated on our game. He completely dodged the question about Brock in this interview.
@@slimdude4450 Then you didn't watch any of the games. It's NOT true. Brock Purdy had the LEAST amount of YAC than ANY quarterback. And he was making plays when he should have been sacked or thrown it away. So by your standards Pat Mahomes is not that good because all he did was get the ball to his playmakers. That same year KC had more YAC than SF.
Maybe some shade but also kinda calling it how I see it apart from that oline comment, I don’t think our oline is that great excluding LT and RG. I think most of what he said was pretty on point. Purdy is a gamer but that chiefs game was rough, just like the Baltimore ravens game last year on thanksgiving. He has 2-3 bad games per year and keeps everything else consistent for most of the season and came back from deficit against the packers and lions. He’s still developing and have faith but Brady also might be egging him on to see what comes out of. Use that as fuel.
Yes I didn’t hear anything bad. Tom’s right. If Brock can keep playing consistently I think Tom knows he has the potential to make it all the way and hold that trophy up
Brady just mad cause his wife was getting her cheeks clapped by an average looking dude. Just cause Brady said it don’t make it true either. Saying “phenomenal o line” says he don’t know what he’s talking bout when it comes to that team. Then saying Brock was just “getting it to half backs and flip it to Deebo” last year WHILE BROCK WAS LEADING THE LEAGUE IN AIR YARDS…. Just says bruh don’t know what he’s talking bout…. And let’s keep it real, Tom was the ultimate “game manager” for majority of his career..
Think you’re reading a little too much into his Brock analysis. He’s not gonna feel bout Brock like 9er fans do. we LOVE our Jesus loving QB and it’s been a long while since 9er fans have had a lot of confidence and fun watching high end QB play. GerFloppalo drove me nuts. Let Brock’s play speak for itself and enjoy what he brings to the table now and in the future. Brock may be one of those guys that takes less $ than he should receive just to keep some other key teammates…donno let’s wait and see.
Tom Brady gave Brock his flowers when he was announcing the 9ers game a few weeks ago, he straight up said he waltzed in looking for an easy win because he was facing Mr Irrelevant and he basically said Brock schooled him before he even knew what git him and he underestimated him and he said, "we all know now Brock is an amazing player". It was a funny clip because his fellow announcer was ribbing him about losing to Brock and he was all "Man why you gotta do me like that?" I gained some respect for Brady truth be told
I’m a big Brock supporter and I love my 49ers but there has been several plays where Brock missed open players that would have resulted in a bigger play , he needs to work on that
To be fair Tom has called Brock’s two worst games this year (ARI and KC) so his opinion has likely gone down a bit. But don’t forget who beat up on you in his first start
I don't think he has any problem with Brock, really. He's talking pretty coldly and analytically about it. What I think he has the problem with is the 49ers. The guy grew up wanting to be Joe Montana. And then the only team that wants him is in Boston. And when he finally leaves that s hole the Niners rather have Jimmy freaking Garoppolo instead of him. And now they get a late rounder that's good... But that's not him. Purdy didn't care about the Niners growing up. He did. Brady wanted more than anything to hoist a Lombardi wearing a red 49ers jersey, and he is a guy known to hold grudges. He's fueled by those grudges. He didn't buy a piece of the Vegas franchise for nothing. He h4t3s the 49ers with a passion now and don't wanna see Shanahan and Lynch doing good at all.
I believe Tom Brady likes Brock. I think Tom still has his competitiveness showing he hasn't settled into the booth fully yet to where he feels comfortable complimenting players he would have battled against. Asking one of the greatest ever to compliment a young player is never going to you come out as they say with flowers
I don’t think TB has said anything too critical of Brock, but he certainly has avoided heaping any real praise on him. I kinda get the same impression that he somehow doesn’t like being compared to a player that doesn’t have the hardware yet
conor mcgregor might be a nutt but when he said Precision beats power and timing beats speed. man he was onto something brock doesnt need to have a nuke attached to his shoulder if he can get the ball where it needs to be perfectly and on time..
I can't say I'm hearing the same thing. IDK. There is that earlier quote along the lines of "I'm sitting on the sideline watching this new kid carve up our defense". I wouldn't expect him to gush and gush over any QB, really, he's probably always going to have that "I was better" thought in the back of his head... human nature, and to be expected with his accomplishments.
As a Niners fan, I wished Niners had got after Brady during his free agency. We would’ve had a few SB rings. Brock is good but he doesn’t read defenses and processes things like Brady
Brady didn’t say anything negative. Brock’s best trait is his composure! And, unlike Brady, Brock can run when necessary. At a Rookie contract, Purdy is an absolute steal! However, I just don’t think he’s worth 50M! And if they do pay him 50M, who are they going to trade? Simply can’t afford the 6 guys making 30M+ and a 50M QB!
Tom’s being honest. I love Brock. But down 10 pts in the 4th quarter I don’t have much faith as I would a mahommes or a stafford. I’m watching more for tipped passes or open hand fumbles
with cmc on his podcast tom said last year like two weeks pre-ravens that cmc was his mvp and brock was just doing his job. cmc tried to defer and say brock was the mvp but tom pressed. hes been not looking at purdy fondly
I dont think he hates him, brock did not play well when tom called the 2 games. He was more into brock at the first time calling the game, but you can hear the enthusiasm faint the second game cause brock played bad both times. He was simply not impressed with brock rn
As a Niner Fan Brady didn’t say anything that makes him sound like he doesn’t like Purdy! Maybe you wanted to hear him say something positive about Purdy hostly Purdy needs to play better stop throwing all those interceptions make better decisions
Well Greg Olsen says different but Olsen has called games where Brock played better than well and you could argue the other two games Tom has called havent been Brock's best
Tom is just removed from playing, so he gave an analysis mostly through that point of view. He assessed the offense like he would if he was playing against it. He commented on their playmakers and defense like he would as a player. Brock Purdy does not have the eyepopping skills like say how fast Lamar Jackson is. Brocks' skillset is hidden. He excels in ball placement, reading defenses fast, reacting, and pocket feel. They skills everyone picks up on hes good, not exceptional. He's got good speed, not game breaking. He's improved a lot on arm strength, but it's not eye-popping.
Its ok if he doesnt like him or not all BP can do is put his head down keep playing great ball & winning...Brock being pretty much undersized as a qb is what makes alot of people reluctant to give him his due respect no matter how much he balls out...Besides Purdy is the only rookie that can actually say that he beat the breaks off Brady his first start against him😂It'd be hard for me too to say yea hes a great qb🤣But Alot of it just stems from the secondhand unbiased hatred from national media like that everyone reciprocates after hearing it from someone else....Kyle CMC Kittle Deebo Juan doesnt matter who they want to give the credit to Just keep winning💯A Super Bowl win will force them to change the narrative❤️💛
Unless Tom is playing chess while we are playing checkers. And by not giving Brock his full compliment he knows the competitiveness in Brock will want to prove Tom wrong and that is what Tom is trying to get out of Brock. 🤯
I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I think he said what everyone thinks of Brock that he is a great distributor. I'm a Niner fan and I'm still not bought on Purdy. I think his good but he is definitely still not great. If other players aren't good he doesn't elevate them. He still needs great players to elevate his play and that's okay. It'll come with time.
So basically, Tom says Brock is good, not great. 😳 It seems like every former qb has the same opinion of Brock. You should be doing a segment on why 49ers fans think Brock is elite and why they think they know more than actual NFL players 😮
is he high on any qb's? it seems to me like he's a little gunshy with praise in general. kicking it off by saying qb's needing to have poise, command the huddle, and have their teammates' ultimate confidence then saying brocks got that is pretty solid. that's gotta mean something especially nfl qb to nfl qb
I don't get it I listen to Brady's assessment. Nothing he said was bad just because he didn't glamorized and glazed BP doesn't mean he doesn't like him. I am niner fan too and he didn't say anything bad
My favorite part is when he said the niners have had a phenomenal offensive line! They literally had one of the worst lines for awhile. Recently they have improved with puni but not phenomenal 😂😂😂
I don’t know where you got that from that clip. It was a straight up good analysis that was complimentary but not glowing. Odd take to have, I feel baited… sorry
What is scary is that in the next to last game last year against Baltimore, Purdy was about to win the MVP before throwing three picks. It would have been so unjust. Baltimore steamrolled them or else Purdy gets it because Purdy and other starters say in the final game. Just shows how outrageous certain narratives go. And then he almost won the Super Bowl. Heck, he might have won the MVP in the Super Bowl. In reality, the is not too good. He's in a good system, but he has thrown some really bad interceptions, and he is barely an NFL QB and if not drafted by the right system, he would not be pissed, and would not think himself that he was cheated out of an NFL career.
What did he say that made it seem like he didn't like Brock?? Idk, this kind of seems like a reach. All he said was he's not the biggest or has the best arm strength like Aaron Rodgers. That's not news. And he called him a point guard, which is basically what the QB is. Even when Brady was calling the last game, he said he liked Brock.. It sounded like a honest opinion from someone that knows the position..
You are right he hates the comparison and thanks Brock has it easy and isn’t worthy. He didn’t watch much film of the last 2 years and only certain cut ups. Tom is hyper competitive obviously. If he doesn’t respect you and you beat him, he might not shake your hand. He doesn’t like Ryan Fitzpatrick and a couple QBs who were backups. A lot is champions are sore losers so to get compared to and get beat by him puts him in his feelings. Should hype up people who beat you imo
TBH I dont hink hes hating on BP, hes critcizing the offense for sure. Hes pointed that out when hes done their games. This offense isn't what they used to be. A lot more drop than what they've done in the past.
Seems benign actually... same comments on 49er radio...take any QBs top receivers away with a leaky defense and no one looks good. Mahomes only looking good because of KC defense. Look at Stafford without Cupp and Nakua. etc.

@@ChRisu_Ojisansuper bowl champion of 7 times you sound like a fool
He basically said every other player besides Purdy. Also, he said they have a phenomenal offensive line. He couldn't think that if he watched a game.
I 100% agree with you! He dones't like Purdy. Jelly
I believe Tom Brady did the KC game where Brock had his worst ever performance. That could color his view of him.

I didn’t hear anything bad about Purdy ngl
Starts at 2:05
Basically saying he was only good because of his weapons.
@@johnnyrico707that's not hating. It's facts. All Brock had to do was get his play makers the ball lol. What do you think the job of the QB is??
@@slimdude4450 Then you didn't watch any of the games. It's NOT true. Brock Purdy had the LEAST amount of YAC than ANY quarterback. And he was making plays when he should have been sacked or thrown it away.
So by your standards Pat Mahomes is not that good because all he did was get the ball to his playmakers. That same year KC had more YAC than SF.
I think hes more critical because people compare him however sunday he gave him his lfg player of the game. On the post game show tom praised brock.
If Brock can keep playing consistently I think Tom knows he has the potential to make it all the way and hold that trophy up
I didn’t hear anything negative from Tom Brady honestly I think he was actually right on almost everything he said pertaining to our team.
Idk about phenomenal offensive line.....
It didn’t sound bad to me at all. I kinda digged it actually idk lol
hes speaking facts, not really dissing brock at all
Tom Brady gave Brock his flowers when he was announcing the 9ers game a few weeks ago, he straight up said he waltzed in looking for an easy win because he was facing Mr Irrelevant and he basically said Brock schooled him before he even knew what git him and he underestimated him and he said, "we all know now Brock is an amazing player". It was a funny clip because his fellow announcer was ribbing him about losing to Brock and he was all "Man why you gotta do me like that?" I gained some respect for Brady truth be told
I’m a big Brock supporter and I love my 49ers but there has been several plays where Brock missed open players that would have resulted in a bigger play , he needs to work on that
You should watch some Chiefs film. Maybe Mahomes and Brock can get together this offseason and work on that
To be fair Tom has called Brock’s two worst games this year (ARI and KC) so his opinion has likely gone down a bit. But don’t forget who beat up on you in his first start
I didn’t think Tom was necessarily saying anything bad about Brock, but he was definitely was reluctant to praise him
49ers are 0-2 with Brady hating from the booth.
Phenomenal! O-line really now Tom really
I believe Tom Brady likes Brock. I think Tom still has his competitiveness showing he hasn't settled into the booth fully yet to where he feels comfortable complimenting players he would have battled against. Asking one of the greatest ever to compliment a young player is never going to you come out as they say with flowers
Sounds like a honest assessment to me.
I don’t think TB has said anything too critical of Brock, but he certainly has avoided heaping any real praise on him. I kinda get the same impression that he somehow doesn’t like being compared to a player that doesn’t have the hardware yet
conor mcgregor might be a nutt
but when he said Precision beats power and timing beats speed. man he was onto something
brock doesnt need to have a nuke attached to his shoulder if he can get the ball where it needs to be perfectly and on time..
Brock struggles just like Baker does in Tampa when DLs get close to him in the pocket. Still a top 20 QB
The best analysis of anything is from someone who hasn't bought into what they are analyzing.
Tom started to lose me when he talked about how great the Niner O-line is.
I didn't hear any hate. I thought he analyzed the team well. Dont be so sensitive dude.
And got stomped whooped on had the whole crowd chanting PURDY
I get the sense that Tom is ultra competitive and sees himself (a young him) in Brock, and he doesn't like it.
I dont think he hates him, brock did not play well when tom called the 2 games. He was more into brock at the first time calling the game, but you can hear the enthusiasm faint the second game cause brock played bad both times. He was simply not impressed with brock rn
Brock hasn’t done it for long enough at a high enough level. I looooove Brock, but I need to see it for longer before I call him elite.
Ya remember Marc Bulger? Brocks the modern day Marc Bulger.
Phenomenal o line ……
Dude lost me at "phenomenal offensive line" shows me he doesn't watch much 49ers..
Tom Brady already called Brock mid
As a Niner Fan Brady didn’t say anything that makes him sound like he doesn’t like Purdy! Maybe you wanted to hear him say something positive about Purdy hostly Purdy needs to play better stop throwing all those interceptions make better decisions
Cowherd hates Purdy, TB was just matching his energy.
Well Greg Olsen says different but Olsen has called games where Brock played better than well and you could argue the other two games Tom has called havent been Brock's best
brock is in no way a game changer, brady is 100% right, prob nicer than he should be
Tom is just removed from playing, so he gave an analysis mostly through that point of view.
Brady is doing what Montana refused to do in the broadcast booth. He's dissing players for sound bites.
He’s just pissed because Brock was the first rookie that beat him and did it in front of his old high school buddies for the team he grew up loving.
Unless Tom is playing chess while we are playing checkers. And by not giving Brock his full compliment he knows the competitiveness in Brock will want to prove Tom wrong and that is what Tom is trying to get out of Brock. 🤯
Earlier Btady said Purdy is too slow. Look at Purdy's speed vs. Brady's. It isn't even close.
He didn't say anything wrong tbh
I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I think he said what everyone thinks of Brock that he is a great distributor. I'm a Niner fan and I'm still not bought on Purdy. I think his good but he is definitely still not great. If other players aren't good he doesn't elevate them. He still needs great players to elevate his play and that's okay. It'll come with time.
TOM BRADY IS A NINER HATER NOW !
We know TB12 used pettiness and pride to fuel his grit, determination, and Super Bowl wins. So he got wrecked by BP and might be a little salty
So basically, Tom says Brock is good, not great. 😳 It seems like every former qb has the same opinion of Brock. You should be doing a segment on why 49ers fans think Brock is elite and why they think they know more than actual NFL players 😮
I didnt hear him say anything negative about Brock🤷
is he high on any qb's? it seems to me like he's a little gunshy with praise in general. kicking it off by saying qb's needing to have poise, command the huddle, and have their teammates' ultimate confidence then saying brocks got that is pretty solid. that's gotta mean something especially nfl qb to nfl qb
He was high on Brock first game he called but the performance got iffy and questionable and he had to be honest
I feel like Brady and Young don't actually watch him play.
I don't hear what you it sounds pretty accurate, any criticism we handle it
I don't get it I listen to Brady's assessment.
Mountains out of molehills
I cant believe your giving GOAT props to Brady with a pic of 16 over your shoulder. Your fired Bradley.
Tom hates Brock because he wanted to be a niner. He thinks he should have been a niner. And the fact Brock beat him doesn't help either.
Real question is why does Tom Brady think this O-Line is “Phenomenal”
Seems benign actually... same comments on 49er radio...take any QBs top receivers away with a leaky defense and no one looks good. Mahomes only looking good because of KC defense. Look at Stafford without Cupp and Nakua. etc.
