That last game was crazy lol. They literally called it for Action then he just sacks his whole army. All he had to do was keep his queens healthy, and keep doing drive-bys on tanks while expanding. He really really threw that one away
Yeah, and before that attack he should've expanded twice, he literally did nothing after he left Sea with 1 CC. Sea then got back 3 CC and a decent army, while Action got 5 queens ? and a bit of hydras. Literally nothing else. God-awful macro and game sense, unbelieveable coming from him.
I think he just was not used to that kind of game. Like you said it seemed like a matter of droning up, expanding , keeping the hydras for defense against vultures and keep harassing with Queens and Mutas. He seemed completely lost and maybe he thought that he needed to kill the Terran as soon as possible.
Action was just tired. This same thing happened a few seasons ago. At some point towards the end of a series he loses when he loses his momentum it looks like he just gives up
Tasteless is getting better at commentating, I feel like he and arty have reached a new level in general. Maybe it helps that there is less stress if they are working from home.
Dude, i couldnt disagree more. Here's a little game for you. Take any vid with these two, any cast, and try to first catch a count of how many times nick will say something that you dont already know, or have any meaningful input about the gameplay that is NOT just a repeat/rephrase of what dan has just said. Anything that is close to predicting build orders, play analysis and such... Disregard stuff like "so happy the game still holds after so many years" or any comments about available bases and worker counts. And then compare it to dan's count. The disparity is vast. You will see that artosis (and not only him, its the same thing with state too) carries tasto for the entire cast. Yeah they have the chemistry together which was built upon more than a decade working together but come on man, pull your weight. Stop relying on castmates too nice/respectful to say something. At least make an effort, youre exploiting their kindness and its irritating. Step up!

While i can sense it in every other caster he works with that they are well aware of his gimmicks but never say anything so they dont appear rude. Thats it, thats all ive been wanting to get off my chest. Im all cool now and will never mention it again, hahahh

I'm happy to see Best actually try a different play style rather than straight macro Protoss. IMO his weakness was his lack of flexibility. With more practice with using cheesy strats he will be able to mix them in better and present a more effective threat to his opponents.

Well, two things: He had built so many sunkens to sandbag the tank push, that he ended up really drone-light, like 4 drones per base. And then instead of redroning, he made too many queens. It seemed like he had a bad read on the game state - thinking that one quick and sloppy attack would just topple Sea. So he neither committed to restoring his economy nor making a well-executed attack. IMO, he underestimated Sea's level - these kinds of upsets are sometimes the result of hubris, where maybe he would have played better against a stronger opponent.
The translated part should have a box with the translator so you can see him, it would help enormously to see the person speaking. it becomes so much easier to focus on a singel voice if you see the person speaking.
to be fair, tasteless says some dumb stuff sometimes 🤣 so sometimes the "mhm" is 100% deserved lol. i mean, we all like tasteless but occasionally he's just wrong with a comment. Arty plays the game more and is more technically knowledgeable, tasteless has some decent knowledge about protoss but in general is more of the color commentator

7 years ago I went to the studio with my wife (who'd never watched sc before) and watched sea in the ro24/16. She actually remembered him when I was watching this! Congrats to my wife's favourite player, Sea!
Interestingly, if you listen to StarCast, their coverage of the thrown game is quite different. They notice almost immediately that Action is very low on supply and has very few drones, and they are much more worried about whether he's really won already.
In the 1st game - Blizzard devs, what the hell?!?! How was the turret not able to shoot at the Shuttle or reveal the DT??? 💀💀💀 I've seen Missile turrets start shooting at longer ranges than this. What is this sorcery? Is the range purely RNG??
The DT really was out of range, albeit barely. Brood War normally works with approximate rather than exact distances, which can allow units to see and shoot further on certain diagonals than they should. But the calculation is exact in orthogonal directions, which makes the range in that case seem smaller by comparison. Also, range in this case is measured edge-to-edge (i.e. from the edges of the bounding boxes, plus one pixel for some reason), and the DT has a fairly small bounding box left-to-right (smaller than a wraith's, bigger than a ghost's).
Game 1 spoiler I wonder if ~10 seconds before 38:00 if Best had an opportunity to stasis something on the ramp. It might have bought him more time to macro and hold the main base

Look at game 2 (and game 3 to a lesser extent, but especially game 2) of his ro8 against Best in ASL 15. Unbelievably throws. The guy can be brilliant. On his best day, he's more than good enough to win an ASL. But sometimes, his brain seems to turn off.
