I bought a Spark mini because of its ability for momentary switching (the ability for volume punches for a few notes when I need to be heard) and it turns out that i love what it does for my tone after my drive. Love it!
Thanks for a very informative and useful video. I've been convinced and TC Electronic Spark Mini Booster is on my shopping list. Is it possible to recommend how many decibels increase it should be set at to go from rhythm to lead. I know that could be seen as a how long is a piece of string question, but is there an approximate number to get started with please?
Thank you for the kind words! The spark doesn't specify DB increase, but I usually aim for 2-3 DB for solos which seems to equate to somewhere between 10-12 o clock on the spark dial. The boost will be much more dramatic if you put it in your loop vs the front of the amp. My advice would be to start with the knob all the way down, engage the pedal, and slowly turn the knob until you get your desired volume boost. The nice thing is that it is a very simple 1 knob pedal, so if during your first few songs you desire a bit more volume, just turn the knob a little!
Thanks Rocke, absolutely it works well in both locations, although in front you might want the full size Spark for the eq control to shape your overdrive pedals 👍
I'm using a boss sd-1 super overdrive as a clean boost for tone. Can the spark mini be placed before the boss sd-1 to boost for solos in front of the amp?
How are you boosting your leads currently?

I don’t have a guitar but for some reason I feel the need to buy a spark boost peddle ! Great video !
Great playing here, Now I hear the difference!!!!!
Great video, gonna get one TODAY!!!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the video! You saved me a lot of time :)
Great to hear!
I’m a righty, and I’ve never experienced signal drop. This must be a lefty phenomenon exclusively. 🤷♂️
you may need an amp to test this theory...
Excellent video. Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks Marco 👍

Depending on the situation I set mine between 10-1 o'clock... 10 for quieter settings of course. I've never had the need to press it past 2 o'clock.
Another lefty here. Sub'd in hope for more content
Great Video! When you add the spark in the effects loop do you have it last after all effects or first before all the effects?
Yes I do!
I always have it last!
Super review. Any reason you can't put one in the effects loop for volume boost for soloing, and one in front of a distortion pedal of some kind? Tks

If i run it in front of the amp, will it add a hum or hiss?
Don't roll cables that way man
Can this pedal treated as buffer in long pedal chain?
No, this pedal is true bypass. You would need to add a buffer to your chain if needed
tc has some plastics flavored tone which i dislike
This one is about as transparent as I've seen, YMMV
@@leftyriffs dark matter is better as drive and booter too
