All of this company's videos have amazing sound quality, playing, information - I find myself watching the whole video even on effects I'm not interested in. Love these guys. Definitely sub'd :)
For years I've gone back and forth between the TC Spark Boost and many other boost pedals. I always end up coming back to this one because it has really great tone. It's very warm and never sounds harsh. Because it has a Clean, Mid and Fat switch, it's like getting 3 pedals in one. Very versatile. My favorite part about this pedal is that it sounds 3 dimensional. It's as if the sound of the pedal is surrounding you. No clue how TC pulled that off but it's pretty amazing! My second pick is the JOYO "Rated Boost". It's tiny but don't let the size fool you. It offers a lot of sound, has a lot of bite and great definition while being warm at the same time. The Overdrive tone on this pedal is very impressive! It's only $50 bucks new which is unbelievable for what you get. Because it's so small, it will save you a lot of space on a crowded pedalboard. My third pick is the Xotic "RC" Boost. The reason I vote the Xotic being last is because it has a very "sterile" sound and the overdrive tone is kinda harsh compared to the TC and JOYO. However... if CLEAN is what you're after and you want nothing else from your boost pedal, nothing is CLEANER or more transparent than this pedal. It's very, very clean. Just don't expect it to be as versatile as the TC or JOYO. I found it to be a one trick pony but that's not necessarily a bad thing if that's all you're looking for. It can get extremely loud!!
+Iggytommy Hi Iggy. The TC has more of a "tube screamer" personality which is very warm while the Xotic has a very ultra clean sound that's really "in your face". Almost to the point of being sterile because it's so incredibly transparent. I highly suggest buying both and listening to them side by side through your own rig. That's the only way you'll know if ANY pedal out there is right for you. Don't forget to check out the JOYO too! It's really amazing and the best part is that it's only $50 bucks!!
@@kovamusic4327 i know its 2 years ago but maybe you read this. I am searching for a boost pedal. I am building a 'john mayer' pedal board. I am looking for a alternative for the Keeley Katana clean boost. Do you recommend the RC boost or the tc spark for the keeley katana. Or is the sound of the keeley katana unique and there is no replica sound. Sorry for my english. Hope you can respond.
That performance of Live Or Let Die is the best I've ever heard, and the first time in a long time I've been inspired to learn someone else's song. Absolutely stunning! And good job with the pedal too, I just bought one after watching this.
Came across this video and was blown away with the arrangement and tone of " Live and let die ". Finished watching Mike play thru the demo and found a Spark the next day !! Very cool pedal , works well with the rest of my board and amps !!! Great job doing the demo's Mr. Mike Hermans !!
Thanks for this video. Great demonstration of how much gain the Spark can produce. The Gain knob at max is about the most amount of gain I would ever need in a single stage. Now to find a Spark at a reasonable price, so i can compare it to the MojoMojo I already have.
Amazing playing, especially 'Live and Let Die', and then at the very end, the merest tease of a great version of 'Blackbird'. Many thanks for this. Oh, and I like the pedal, too.
Simply wonderful! The demo is great and the playing is extraordinary! You are a very talented guitar player! Congratulations! You made me buy this pedal.
agreed: The great playing + great vid/sound quality + easy-to-hear/see differences each knob/switch on a pedal makes = every buying decision I make is ultimately based on the Prymaxe videos. And like uglybunny posted, I too find myself watching a lot of their vids of pedals I'm not even interested in, addictively good stuff.
It does a great clean boost like the RC. It also does a great fat boost and overdrive. More options. It's a different tone than the RC. I LOVE the RC booster. This is just another option
This pedal is "amazing", as is Mike Herman's playing. I admire his skills.....and well...he actually inspires me to strive to do better with my own playing. Anyway, I picked up this pedal last week and WOW! Just wow. It is absolutely everything it's advertised to be. I haven't tried it with my other pedals yet....but only because, once you turn THIS pedal on, you quickly forget that you even had other pedals for a minute. haha. I'm very happy with it.
Top playing Sir! The Spark is a fantastic pedal, so versatile and perhaps the only pedal you need in front of a valve amp.Only downside as you have 3 great basic sounds to start with you can end up knob twiddling and switch flicking a bit too much.Oh well.......
hehehe, yeah, I have been listening to mike at prymaxe demoing all sorts but realised that its just the great playing that makes everything sound freaking awesome...
Thanks for the info man. My SG Standard is vintage modded with Paf's and it's kinda on the darkside. I'm looking for a boost that offers enough treble to brighten it up. This pedal sounds. FANTASTIC. And your playing is stellar man! Thanks and rock on!
Most useful demo ever. I've gotta get rid of the damn Sparkle Drive on the board (with its crappy switching, 3rd one, same problem), it's killing my buzz. I'll be dropping some money for this soon. Dude, you should move closer to Baltimore, I'd love to do some playing with you.
Very comparable. The Spark has more options. 2 of my favorite clean boosts. I have been using the RC boost since it came out so I stick with it. But the Spark is just as nice
Bought one of these pedals based on this excellent video. Not sure if you'll read this, but what model Tele is that? Looks like some sort of Deluxe model, but has a different bridge and saddles to the current Deluxes...
Maybe a dumb question, but is there negative gain to be had on this pedal? I understand the high and low knobs are normal at 12oclock, so I imagine I could reduce gain using those. I'm looking for more of an attenuator pedal, but with some EQ builtin to make up the high end that we lose when attenuating. Also considering this as an overall volume/boost and eq control at the end of my chain - like the tone settings/controls.
Hey Mike which pedal gives you more tweaking for sweetening the tones that your amp is giving you between the "SPARK BOOST pedal and the Earthquaker TONE JOB pedal! I have a TONE KING IMPERIAL that has a separate rhythm channel (BLACKFACE CLEAN voiced) and the lead channel(Fender Pushed Tweed voiced)! The tones of this amp are fantastic but having a dedicated midrange, bass and treble active tone control would really make the TK Imperial even better! Mac Baker
This guitarist is absolutely unbelievable.
All of this company's videos have amazing sound quality, playing, information - I find myself watching the whole video even on effects I'm not interested in. Love these guys. Definitely sub'd :)
He attended to Berklee school and ofcourse he must be good hehe..
***** do you know the full name of the guitarist in this video?
dylansfg
Mike Hermans.
Unbelievable guitarist? Totally believable!
Are you KIDDING me with this live and let die arrangement?! Amazing
Compliments to the guitarist - superb playing!
Came for the pedal demo, stayed for the playing.
me too :-)
That this was made in 2012 is unavailable. The best review ever

+KovaMusic - how would you compare the Xotic RC Boost? thanks
+Iggytommy Hi Iggy. The TC has more of a "tube screamer" personality which is very warm while the Xotic has a very ultra clean sound that's really "in your face". holy shit. I now no longer care about the Spark, I just want to see this dude play
Alexander Harmer lmao

6 years later and the video still holds up because of his take on that song!
I've got this pedal and it is truly a Swiss Army knife. Distortion, overdrive, lead boost, clean boost - you name it you can do it!
Came across this video and was blown away with the arrangement and tone of " Live and let die ". Finished watching Mike play thru the demo and found a Spark the next day !! Very cool pedal , works well with the rest of my board and amps !!! Great job doing the demo's Mr. Mike Hermans !!

I listen to your demos because the arrangements are so great.
had to sub just for that guitar player. He just plays so graceful and clean.
Mike's playing always inspires me. I can't watch too many videos in a row, I find myself having to go write a new riff... or buy a new pedal. haha.
L.
the best video ever....no talks at all!!
That intro is boss. First pedal demo where I've wanted to actually learn what's being played! GJ.
Love the arrangement of Live & Let Die. Have tabs anywhere for that?
Excellent demo - excellent playing -
The guitarist is a bad ass!!!
Who cares about the pedal? Player steals the show!
PauliE I was gonna that too. Amazing. Pedal is a sweetheart toner. I think the video production is user friendly.
Wow, that fingerstyle groove was as smooth as a butter.. awesome!
I forgot i was watching a demo and just enjoyed the riffs while i did other stuff.
This channel is fantastic, you've put all my pedal paranoia to bed, cheers!
That slow jam to Black Dog was unreal
If you want more volume, after. If you want more saturation, before the dirt box you are using
-Mike
Bond's 50th Anniversary was on the day you posted this vid so it's pretty perfect you did this!
agreed: The great playing + great vid/sound quality + easy-to-hear/see differences each knob/switch on a pedal makes = every buying decision I make is ultimately based on the Prymaxe videos. This playing is beautiful man
Got one! Best Booster on the market, a diamond in my pedalboard! ;)
I have many nice boost and transparent overdrive pedals and this one tops them all. Does it all and is very inexpensive.
Came for the pedal, stayed for the beautiful guitar playing.
Class as always from this man on Prymaxe!
Nice pedal and playing!
Cool pedal and some damn fine playing!
I got one of these pedals two weeks ago :) love it!!! Best booster I've ever used
Good enough as a basic eq?
It does a great clean boost like the RC. It also does a great fat boost and overdrive. More options. It's a different tone than the RC. I LOVE the RC booster. This is just another option
That Zeppelin-ish line was really sweet!
Stick this pedal in front of any fuzz, distortion or overdrive pedal and now you really got something
what is difference with spark mini booster??
The Spark Mini is smaller, and only has one knob. You lose the treble and bass controls, as well as the gain knob and the clean-mid-fat switch.
Really nice playing. Good sound too, of course.
That heritage is amazing. Thanks for making me want an LP that's not a Gibson for the first time ever. Haha
I could listen to this arrangement of L&LD all day. Fantastic!
unbelievable playing!
You play wonderful.
Top playing Sir! The Spark is a fantastic pedal, so versatile and perhaps the only pedal you need in front of a valve amp.Only downside as you have 3 great basic sounds to start with you can end up knob twiddling and switch flicking a bit too much.Oh well.......
I always comeback at this video for the music
I haven't tried the mini. I'm sure it's killer. Can't wait to try it.
Very nice Playing dude !!! 👍
hehehe, yeah, I have been listening to mike at prymaxe demoing all sorts but realised that its just the great playing that makes everything sound freaking awesome...
Very useful demo! Thanks!!!
Damn! This guitarist floored me!
delightful playing indeed, thank you
I hereby declare that you shall do every single guitar product demo for the rest of time.
Thanks for the info man. My SG Standard is vintage modded with Paf's and it's kinda on the darkside. I'm looking for a boost that offers enough treble to brighten it up. This pedal sounds. FANTASTIC. And your playing is stellar man! Thanks and rock on!
Damn this guy can play. Love the pedal, but I can't kid myself that I can play anywhere nearly as well as this dude.
Great demo & great playing..
I have no idea why but this tune make me remember the good old bays
What a beautiful arrangement of Rock and Roll, it made it listenable! The Live and Let Die was very very cool
too. Thanks for the review!!
THanks a lot! I'm a gear head so demoing is my dream job! lol
-Mike
Indeed, wonderful boost
Great arrangement Mike!~
Super awesome guitar playing!
Awesome version of Live And Let Die! Why don't you publish the tabs for this one? :-)
Amazing playing. You are great. Alex from Brazil.
0:30 that modulation though
Awesome chord-age brotha!
Mainly the neck. I switch over for the last section
Cool demo! Respect!
nice playing, you're good man. like the led zep
Very comparable. The Spark has more options. 2 of my favorite clean boosts. I have been using the RC boost since it came out so I stick with it. But the Spark is just as nice
nice playing, gotta steal that L&LD arrangemen :) Nice booster too, I wonder whether to get this or the new mini version of it.
Haha! Very kind of you!
-Mike
Hi pls is the spark/spark mini in the categories of preamp or can I use it as a preamp
Thanks a bunch!
Sublime playing
Great video.. but will it sound so nice with a tube and a solidstate amp
no talking, just very nice playing.. now thats a demo!
The only thing missing from this pedal is the momentary switch on it’s little brother, the Spark mini
Bought one of these pedals based on this excellent video. Not sure if you'll read this, but what model Tele is that? Looks like some sort of Deluxe model, but has a different bridge and saddles to the current Deluxes...
The player can make any pedal sound like NextGen
exactly what i've been looking for. could anyone compare this to the fulltone fb-3?
nice playing!
Thanks for watching
Mike you could plug into a tailpipe & sound good!! Best demos on RUclips!
Maybe a dumb question, but is there negative gain to be had on this pedal? I understand the high and low knobs are normal at 12oclock, so I imagine I could reduce gain using those. unbelievably tasty playing!! If I only could.....
Hi Mike, great tone and playing !! Could make a video of the "illuminated overdrive" (soulsonic Fx) ?
thanks !
Loved the Black Dog part...
Thanks Harry
-Mike
What model Telecaster is it? Beautiful!
what's the song at 1:21? btw amazing playing !
Thanks! This is a great pedal
Outstanding. Btw what's the song at 1:21?
Brilliant demo 5 stars
Where can I get the transcription to live and let die?
Ok buying the spark from Prymaxe this week. Hey I buy I just about every week. Gotta pay Mike some way!
