At 59:45 I really feel you Aman. My phone’s always on DND and I basically remove it from DND when I expect a call from my doctor or some shit but it’s not just my doctor trying to call so I basically accept calls from everyone during that time frame.

His videos lowkey highkey got me through the toughest loneliest times in my life oddly. His videos, plus Hikaru's blitz speedruns were all I had the mental capacity to watch.

I just started playing chess a few months back, and from my (rather unexperienced) perspective, the knights are actually the best pieces in early-to-middle game. (At 1800 or below.)
If a Bishop/Rook/Queen is ONE move away from attacking something, or causing a problem, the human brain tends to NOTICE that.
But, upcoming knight jumps FREQUENTLY go unnoticed. (Or, maybe I'm just dead-ass wrong. Idk.)
Aman, with seven bishops you could have done a beautiful symmetrical mate on upper left corner with final position: Black king h1, Bg2, Kf3 and Bishop square surrounding them. No need to sack a Bishop.
First game is not speed run, It is romantic era of gentlemen chess.

First game, why was rook a4 such a good move? If the pawn b3 took what happens? Can't see it (stuck at 1050 in 5' blitz and 1200 in 10' rapid for a reason...)
Yeah I was wondering that too. But I guess it's not that it was good, it's just that his position was so bad that further opening up the king like that would've eventually resulted in checkmate
It's not a great move unless you guilt trip your opponent into not taking it.... if pawn takes position is about -2, if not it's -10.
How was he able to castle at 1:13:17????
When castling THE KING is not allowed to move trough check. The rook is.

i appreciate the content, but, my friend, how the hell do you call this speedrun 'attacking', and then defend the d4 pawn for the 20th time at 23:20
like, you're playing a significantly lower rated player, let's see some flashy moves in the 'attacking' speedrun, especially when you're in such a good attacking position, instead of ridiculously overprotecting a pawn, as if this is called 'super solid safe and sound speedrun'
edit: ok so your opponent in that game ends up sacrificing a knight, probably pissed off by how defensively you're playing and just wants to ends the misery of a game he ended up in, and then in an even more ridiculously good attacking position you move the knight back at 25:28, to play it extra safe in a 'piece up, opponent wide open' situation
this is all happening in a speedrun called 'attacking'
what did you expect? this guy just got his GM title because his opponents felt bad for him always playing the London. don't support these guys!
But that's a key point Aman wants to get across: attacking doesn't necessarily mean "flashy".
If you like flashy play, I recommend Marc Esserman's channel.
@@RG001100 I'm not expecting flashy moves all the time, or most of the time, but when you have such an advantageous position, in a speedrun called 'attacking', playing super defensively is ridiculous.

so... you lied to him and said that it was a misclick when you knew ahead of time it was a move that, if not taken, is immediately winning? That's really, really horrible and so disappointing, and is definitely cheating in every sense of the term. I don't think even someone with as garbage sportsmanship as Nakamura would do something like that...
obviously immediate unsubscribe and I don't really trust anyone who watches this video and doesn't immediately unsubscribe. it's not okay to cheat at chess, even if elo is already being refunded.

Totally agree, don't support these guys! I have heard MUCH worse stories than this! Aman played a 9 year old girl over the board and had a lost position. He called the arbiter and told him the girl moved her king two squares out of his miscalculated "checkmate" (a lie). Of course Aman was believed and the little girl lost the match. She stopped playing after that.

Bro, in that first game you shouldn't have took on A2 if you told him you mis-clicked. You gained a tempo/piece.
Yes, you were being super Canadian by not taking his his queen earlier in the game, but if he was being honest on the mis-click it was right thing to do. He didn't really gain anything by you not taking his piece
