Very impressive. When you started I thought you might go back over the gouge work at the end to create the border. Using the fine tip to fill in is clever and produces a slick product. Nicely done.
Whether it's modifying a Kayfun or Rose RTA or guns, it's always pretty awesome to see you put your talent and skill to it. Thanks Dave. So F'in glad to see you uploading new content.
Not only did i learn what to do, ive formuated a plan to at least try to fix my old frame not just practice on it. This is prob the best how to stipple related vid on yt.
WOW! Best video on the matter by far. I 've worked whith engineering plastics for decades and in my humble opinion, you ' ve got it allright, congrats !!!
@@DaveModz now i just saw you cutting the border on your LIVE feed earlier with the grinder thing...I cant think of the tool you used. But that looks pretty good too lol
This is the best tutorial i have seen out of the handful of stipple vids i have seen out there bradda dave.. it definitely will give the DIYers out here the confidence after watching this....
noble souljah I'm glad to hear that brother. Love being able to put out content on stuff that I really enjoy again. Appreciate your support always my friend.
Brother Lonis! Thank you so much for always having my back and showing support my friend. #respect Great to be back. This was such a departure from what I've done in the past. Everything from the content to the method of video, having actual editing, doing voice overs, etc.... Well worth it though. Reached a new bar and I ain't coming back down! Hope you enjoy.
Please release more vids of this kind of stuff, I've seen your work on IG and it is awesome, I would love more guides like this as I am getting ready to take the plunge into DIY stippling on my Glock.
Very excellent! All of it, the clarity of the instruction, the camera work, the artistic application of the stipple, I'm inspired! Thank you! 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
great video. I fully expected you to go over the border one more time with that gouge. That'd make the border razor sharp and only take another minute. I wonder if you could benefit from the waffle shaped tips instead of doing each point by hand. I'm just looking into this for our store and I see a lot of tip options
SuperOpinion8ed awesome. Thanks for watching. Going over the borders more than once creates multiple angles on your border that are unsightly. That's why you wanna make the border in one full cut. Check out @thedavemodz on IG for other border tips too. I do weekly vids.
I’ve scoured RUclips for the best border tutorial and came up empty handed..till I found this wonderful video! Thank you for helping us out with the tricks of the trade brotha, I need some wood working tools🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Mike Cordry check out my latest vid brother. I got links in the description to the individual bits of equipment. Also, stay tuned for my upcoming vid. It'll change the game for many of you.
Maxtowers71 awesome bro. Take your time. Hit me up here if you have any questions. If you need tips, follow me on IG @thedavemodz & @gunfu.official and you can DM me there for quicker responses.
I did this to my sig which wasn't tacky enough. My borders were already set as the abrasive areas were slightly indented and there was already a ridge, but this vid has some great info. My start is way more random, all over the area I'm affecting, then, I fill in the incomplete areas. The pattern is more random and looks more factory.
There was that mod someone was making in a magpull 10 round AR mag a couple years back. I'd be interested to see someone revisit that concept with a modern board instead of the simple mosfet mech, and then work over the mag body with some crazy stippling.
How easy does that chisel cut through the plastic? As in does it just glide through as easy as it looks or do you need to be careful to not cut too deep or shallow?
Jalen Byon thats a hard question to answer bro. It cuts very easily for me, but it may be different for someone else depending on their hand strength and coordination. I would recommend starting on a scrap piece of polymer before attempting a receiver or some else of value. Thank you for watching and let me know if you have more questions.
Dave Modz I would wanna use a chisel for my glock and other stuff but I know those ak mags are a little bit softer polymer than what glocks use. I tried to stipple the base plates on my evo mags and it didn't do jack shit where it was a light saber on an old m4 stock so I was just curious
Jalen Byon check out @thedavemodz on IG. Lots of pics of my other stippling projects with harder polymer items. Again practice till you're comfortable. Aside from going slower and applying more pressure at perhaps a more aggressive angle, it should all be relative. The u-shaped blade is the way to go.
Exactly the video I was looking for. Nice work, man. I do my own stippling and was actually wondering if carving tools would work on polymer and this video answered my question. Thanks!
strykeback1 yeah they work well. The Dremel process works well too. All the top guys are using it. This is a much quicker method but not necessarily better. Good luck with it bro!
Have you tried using the carving knives for the borders after you've stippled to clean up the borders at all? If so, how did it turn out? Give any different type of look at all?
Willy Pitty awesome willy. Thanks for watching. There's no need to polish the borders with this method. They come out shiny. When I Dremel or grind borders that requires polishing.
Great content bro! So easy to understand.. for grips that already have light texturing.. do you recommend sanding with a dremel first?... disregard.. just saw your deep borders video
When using a gouge for bordering a glock, how do you keep it from showing stress marks? When I use a 1.5mm u gouge theres discoloration and I'm thinking its stress from taking out too much material at a time but that's the only way I know how to get clean, consistent lines
Great Video Thanks!! I would love to see you do this on an actual gun frame now.. especially the carving out contours etc around the gun. Awesome job Thnx
thornygravy thanks my man. Actually with this new border technique, I've cut my stippling time in less than half. The borders always took me the longest.
If I ever need to figure out how to Stencil a gun magazine this will be the channel
Very impressive. When you started I thought you might go back over the gouge work at the end to create the border. Using the fine tip to fill in is clever and produces a slick product. Nicely done.
Thank you my man 🙏

Chisel blade the border after the stipple for the ultimate clean edge???? How well does that work???Supper clean line. Might look super sick!!!!!
DocClark340 it'd look a little shitty around the borders that have stippling on it
Dave just hits the bech press and stipples all day lol
All jokes aside, these are the best DIY's for stippling! Thanks for posting these videos bro.
Haha thanks bro. Appreciate you checking them out
Nice work!
8541 Tactical thanks brutha
Really nice work , I never thought to practice on an AR Mag , I'm going to try this before stippling my Glocks

AngeL Paq right on! Glad to hear it
Great vid!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch
Bro, you got a steady hand like crazy to make those border lines! That was a dope stipple job you did thanks for the info I’ma go stipple now 😂
Thank you bro 👊
Great border technique! Thanks.
Did you do your double undercut yourself too? that's one of the best I've seen.
Clean. I actually found a video that makes me want to try this
Sick vid brotha. Where did the straight chisel come into play?
Anthony Gonzales thx bro. used it to clean up the straight lines
Well done great vid!!
wardog11bravo awesome. Thanks for watching. I'm dropping an all new one very very soon. Once I finish editing. Lol. Stay tuned bro!
I'll be using this method when stippling my VP9. Is it difficult to start a line and keep it straight once you're at it?
RENZ awesome and thank you for watching. Take your time and please let me know how it goes. 🤙
Will do! I've already purchased the same wood carving tools from amazon, now I just need the right soldering iron.
RENZ solid brutha

very nice work.
Best video out here! Thank you!
Mike Tanner thanks brutha. That's kind of you. My new vid showcases my current technique. You might like that as well.
I just watched it! DAMN bro
Mike Tanner haha yeah. More advanced technique. It's fast as well but is more comprehensive
Exactly the video I was looking for. Nice work, man. I do my own stippling and was actually wondering if carving tools would work on polymer and this video answered my question. Thanks!

Good job, man. Great video.
Rick Gordon thanks brutha. Working on a new vid for a different technique right now. Stay tuned and thanks for watching
Very well done👌
wow I have never seen the carving knives on polymer and here I was preparing to do the 3 or 4 step dremel process to create borders on my glock 30
strykeback1 yeah they work well. The Dremel process works well too. All the top guys are using it. This is a much quicker method but not necessarily better. Good luck with it bro!
Have you tried using the carving knives for the borders after you've stippled to clean up the borders at all? If so, how did it turn out? Give any different type of look at all?
Love the video, and very nice work man. Would it make the border look better if you went back over with the wood carving tool?
Thanks for watching. It would shave the stippled area and probably look a little half baked
Where did you get those in carving tools from? Great work keep it up.
Ryan Porter thx for watching. The tools are all available on Amazon. Look for the Gimars wood carving knife set.
Awesome job on the video and thank you for the dyi tips! Keep up the good work brutha!
Great vid.
Thank you for watching
Where do you get the extra tips for your soldering iron?
That tool for the edges....does it work the same easy in the polymer of the gun??
Bro do you still do videos like this. I watched this like a year ago and helped a ton.
Well done!
SMSgt. Bulldog thank you for your service and for watching. Hope it was helpful. 🤙👊
Good stuff if a gun P365 already has borders do you just use them and melt into orig texture or need to flatten/grind it flat first.
Outstanding tutorial Brother! You make it look easy! Great job on the editing and putting it all together, Mel!
Thank you from both of us brother. She worked harder than me I think. Always been 100 my brutha. Mahalos
Learned something new today! Do you not polish the border?
Willy Pitty awesome willy. Thanks for watching. There's no need to polish the borders with this method. They come out shiny. When I Dremel or grind borders that requires polishing.
Dave Modz true that. When I use the invert cone diamond, the borders are all rough and uneven...
Willy Pitty yeah man same here. Pew on my brutha!
Perfect edges!
Great content bro! So easy to understand.. for grips that already have light texturing.. do you recommend sanding with a dremel first?... disregard.. just saw your deep borders video
Appreciate you watching and commenting brutha.

Not sure tbh. Are your knives sharp? I've never had the issue.
Love the content! Question question would you say this would be a good stipple pattern for a CCW or to aggressive? Thanks again
Money! Thanks man, this just adds a layer of professionalism.👍
Brandon K great to hear bro. Make sure to check out my latest vid. A different approach to borders
Great Video Thanks!! I would love to see you do this on an actual gun frame now.. especially the carving out contours etc around the gun. Awesome job Thnx
HKGuy Snowman#1 thx bro. Follow @davemodzcustoms and @gunfu.official on IG. We go live weekly with actual frame work
Talk about patience! Kudos.
thornygravy thanks my man. Actually with this new border technique, I've cut my stippling time in less than half. The borders always took me the longest.
I noticed the tool you use in this video is a fixed temperature. Do you notice any benefits from being able to adjust the temperature?
You make the boarder look easy Cuz! 🤙🏼
Nice Work
MO FO haha thanks bro. Wait till I finish editing my new vid. I'll show you guys some even better tips!
