Doing what you suggest is not a good idea. Li-Ion can explode. Li-ion unlike Nicad and other rechargeable batteries have strict charging parameters which are controlled by the charger. Also imagine if you have a battery that has shorted cells. You will blow your USB port. Do yourself a favor and buy a new charger if the device is worth it. Don't do what is suggested in the video.
+valveman12 Well said valveman. This IS NOT RECOMMENDED. OMG skelcher. Do some research on charging Li ion cells. This can be very dangerous ! This video should be REMOVED.

Not sure if you still check these comments, but I’ve opened up two Cords so far, and I have an exposed silver and then your four wires that you talk about. Any suggestions?
No T is for Central pin , in that battery there are 2 cells and T is a common . If you happen to have your camera on thermal shut down that is due to the sensor overheating , not the battery . Hey, nice vid! Can you please explain how and if this will work, and how is it safe, when I'm about to plug a battery that clearly states shouldn't receive more than 4.2V and it is going to get 5V (USB) ?
No, the power coming from a USB is 5v. Often 5v 1a or 5v 2a. Your battery is 8.4v and probably requires something like 9.6v to charge. Electricity flows like a river, if you connect a 8.4v battery to a 8.4v charger, nothing charges it stays the same. If you increase voltage (say 9.6v) the 9.6v current will be able to generate a flow into the 8.4v battery and increase it gradually to it's max charge capacity. If you use a 5v USB, it's the reverse. The USB will suck the energy from your battery to level at 5v (or) basically not charge your battery.
