I've been looking for something like this for a monitor mount for a computer to be shared between two workbenches - one stand-up and one sit-down. Since plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery, consider yourself flattered!! Well done!
Thanks! I got the idea from an old fashion desk arm I have on my desk, must have been from the '40s or something, google "desk lamp with springs" and you will see what I mean. The pistol-looking part might look very odd right now when the camera is mounted on top of it but there is a reason for this. The plan was and still is to hang the camera under it but for that, I need a camera case that I have made an order on, but so far, I have not received it. The design will make way more sense when the camera is hanging under it. In your case, I would make it a vertical square holder with holes just like VESA monitor mounting plates have. I still think that if you make this design with longer arms or with a heavier load, using springs between the arms will make it much more secure and easy to use, so keep that in mind if you intend to use it for a monitor! Good luck with your project!
You have made a great design for an articulating amera arm rrig and implpementd with improvements. Thanks a bunch for your engery & thought processes. Keep on improving on other designs as well.
Those clamps look a bit awkward because they don't sit at the same angle... A bit picky, I know! Would it be possible to make a clamp that squeezes something like a rubber ball - so the radius increases, and the circumference pushes against the bottom of the cleat rail. I wonder if that would give you as firm a hold?
True that it might look a bit odd but they are super strong, easy to make and rises up enough to lock the the holder as well as lower down enough so it is possible to unhook the holder. I'm not sure how a design with a rubber ball would look or be designed but the idea is interesting.
Nice and simple. I'm going to use a similar system for my workshop lamp.

Thanks! I do my best but sometime it does not always go as plan so i have to fix it as i build it :) I'm glad you liked it!
