That just brought tears to my eyes and I couldn't hold it in! My God I love music that does that. And Celtic music does it to me all the time, I was born in Germany and raised in Utah, USA. Doesn't matter who you are, this music is magical.
The recordings from the Celtic Colours festival are some of cleanest, best mixed, and highest quality live recordings I have ever heard. Here is another fine example: ruclips.net/video/0MbFy2zQKCM/видео.html
Agree ... only quibble is I would have preferred the guitar mike'd rather than plugged in. Guitar tone has a bit of that "buzzy" edge characteristic of plugged in.
One of my favorite tunes, ever. To coin a phrase from the late, great Michael Hedges: it starts with a lovely, lilting melody, eases out and into rock, and ends in a fit of disco fury!! :)
I've listened to these tunes a hundred times on my Fred Morrison album, and I wouldn't have believed anyone else could play the music as well until I heard this. Holy cow are these guys good. The guitarist is also excellent.
I was lucky enough to see these guys last night in St Andrews, they played this in their set , fantastic musicians. Lovely guys too , great to get to speak to them in an informal setting.
I saw John Doyle several times with Solas. Brilliant. Acoustic guitar is not historically an accompaniment to Celtic music. Until, of course, it really is in the hands of a John Doyle. Truly wonderful.
It's very moving, beautiful, not enough superlatives to say how I feel. Thank you for this sound quality, for sharing. These guys are on Mount Olympus!
Impeccable twin whistling! I couldn't distinguish the two gentlemen, until one would peal off. I don't know if people understand the difficulty, in the statement I just made- but their half-holing, rolling, all of it, matched up.. well, impeccably. That was a joy to listen to! One thing I wish more might do? list the instruments they play! Key, Style, etc. And all involved, too. Unsure if there are.. what? Commercial issues, in regards to money or whatever, as the reason we don't see it very often, but it would sure be awesome if they could.
I believe this tune is called Leaving Uist/Lochaber Badger! I have this on my Spotify playlist, but then this came up randomly on my RUclips playlist and realised it was the same ! Cool to see there guys being it :)
Lovely relaxed playing by all 3 musicians, it's a real treat to hear these virtuosi at the top of their game! I agree the sound quality and the mix is excellent.
Thankful for the wonderful music by Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker & John Doyle. Going to a Celtic Colours Festival is on my to do list, but listening at home is a fine substitute. Praise God for the joy that Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker & John Doyle have shared, and for working through the equipment and algorithms that make it accessible to many. Wish I could have listened to them prior to learning the recorder as a child. Also, when possible remember to support local musicians.
Lately I've turned to Trad Irish before bed. Even the faster jigs and reels are hypnotic with their twisting, flowing, unpredictable melodies. Easy for the mind to let go into a timeless beauty. Flutes and whistles with guitar or harp are best for this, I find.
Micheal Mcgoldrick gets everywhere . I’ve seen him Scotland with Capercaillie when Karen Matheson couldn’t make the gig due to illness so the lads ran amuck just taking requests from the audience in the school hall . I went to see Mark Knoffler play in Manchester UK and there he was , so was is dad , right in front of me who afterwards said that Micheal was the better flute player out of the both of them .
I know. I bought the C and D because this gives me the most common keys (F, C, G and D). I have lowered the recording three steps, so I can play along with my D whistle.
Can I have some advice on a whistle please? I can only afford to buy one (and that's debatable) , I love the sound of both of these. Looked at the Goldie website which one do I buy?
I've been a widower for almost twenty years; I'm hoping, and praying, to get remarried and have our honeymoon during the Celtic Colours Festival!
John Doyle's accompaniment is just beautiful. The whole set would bring a tear to a glass eye.
"Operation Shamrock ☘ 20,21,22,23,24 " endorses that view also.❤
At many gigs, the bloody piano is always set much louder than the other instruments, and its annoying
He certainly rocked up the tunes with Solas. Definitely put Irish music back on the map, especially in the USA. Phenomenal guitar player.
Of to see these three tomorrow with my Daddy , again. Thank you for giving us the music we can love together ❤
I think this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard, it changes me inside listening to this.
It does.
You've said that for me! x
I agree!
Yep. That's Celtic music for you
It changed me too on the inside the tin whistle and the hormone therapy
A Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman.
They've been playing together for years on the Transatlantic Sessions.
They the beauty of people in this world of crazy times............... Bless to them and peace out weight daft.
They walk into a bar and all wars end
@@michaelfant4052 They nused to play with kate Rusby when John was married to her
@@michaelfant4052 Heavy rotation of this is getting me through this mad mad time! Just sticking to the music x
McCusker and McGoldrick are absolutely amazing musicians and multi instrumentalists.
That just brought tears to my eyes and I couldn't hold it in! My God I love music that does that. And Celtic music does it to me all the time, I was born in Germany and raised in Utah, USA. Doesn't matter who you are, this music is magical.
McCusker and Mcgoldrick, both brilliant instrumentalists.
Can listen to this all day. Soothingly delightful.
That transition was so clean you could eat off it
I've listened these for several times. And I feel like I'm in a peaceful world, away from the noise of the city.
The sound quality on this is so good. Better than a lot of studio recordings.
First thing I noticed!!...what a great tech!!...
Really incredible!!
Yes it's stunning. I would have never tried miking that close but the intimacy is incredible.

Absolutely a stunning recording - who ever did the sound tech on this did an amazing job !! ...oh and the playing and musicianship was terrific !
Beautiful!
That switch into Lochaber Badger at 3:33 is like a perfect landing after an insane acrobatic jump
It sounds more like a perfect transition rather than an acrobatic jump to me...
On a calm sunny day, late afternoon , Walking through the woods or just the countryside with this in headphones is bliss!
One of my favorite tunes, ever. To coin a phrase from the late, great Michael Hedges: it starts with a lovely, lilting melody, eases out and into rock, and ends in a fit of disco fury!! :)
❤Ah! Another Michael Hedges fan who also appreciates good Celtic.
Always a nice morning waking up to this
Man, this guitarist ... such a treat !
This trio works so well, way to go lads
I've listened to these tunes a hundred times on my Fred Morrison album, and I wouldn't have believed anyone else could play the music as well until I heard this. Holy cow are these guys good. The guitarist is also excellent.
One of my most favorite performance ever and it makes it that more special it was performed in my beloved home of Cape Breton Island.
Like from morocco👍👍👍👍👍👍
Incredible, and an extremely tasteful guitar at the perfect level :)
My female friend said this to me: the best of any profession belongs to male. They are just better at everything. I have to agree with her.
@@seanleith5312 That's a terrible thing to say. Luckily there's plenty of awesome female musicians out there to prove you wrong
@@seanleith5312 Ho, yeah, please do put some racism on your sexism
There is something about the sound of this flute that makes me stand up and start walking in my mind:)
First time I saw these music marvels was c. 8 years ago at Findhorn. It cost me all of £12! Hope they never stop.
I hope to play like these musicians- one day! Beautiful and inspiring!
They coming to our city Kellinghusen , Germany, 2.9.2023. After so many nice words I will go to the concert. Thanks 👍
I was lucky enough to see these guys last night in St Andrews, they played this in their set , fantastic musicians.

This music feeds my soul and lifts my spirits 💚💙🤍

Whistle right handed AND left handed! Who knew?! I sure didn’t. How cool!
Always one of my favorite jams 💙💚 I love their tone and how funky it gets!
J'adore !
des bons souvenirs à Albiez Montrond !
Incredibly subtle, utterly bewitching music.
This is my mantra every day!
This is one of those videos where I would give more than one 'thumb up'.
It's very moving, beautiful, not enough superlatives to say how I feel. Thank you for this sound quality, for sharing. These guys are on Mount Olympus!
The sound of the flute is very nice!!!! Pretty....
I've played this video so many times over the months to hear this, so good & enjoyable, never gets old
A wild irish stream bouncing over and around stones running from the hills to salt waters to a green throbbing ocean waters
Impeccable twin whistling! I couldn't distinguish the two gentlemen, until one would peal off. I don't know if people understand the difficulty, in the statement I just made- but their half-holing, rolling, all of it, matched up.. well, impeccably. That was a joy to listen to!

WOOW!!! Tears in my eyes and a big smile on my face. So beautiful, so musical, so good!
Don’t really know how I stumbled on this man playing the flute but by god is it beautiful
I believe this tune is called Leaving Uist/Lochaber Badger! I have this on my Spotify playlist, but then this came up randomly on my RUclips playlist and realised it was the same ! Cool to see there guys being it :)
This is soul soothing music. Very primal. Long live the pentatonic.
This just fills my soul with pleasure and calmness of nature itself.
Lovely relaxed playing by all 3 musicians, it's a real treat to hear these virtuosi at the top of their game! I agree the sound quality and the mix is excellent.
i‘ve heard this song in a german report of my beloved Finland… it was just a perfect setting… wild nature and then this in the backround 💚
I love the soft on the flute, whatwere :)
Very beautiful song 😍😍
Just watching John Doyle play his acoustics can make you feel so much calmer
No words to describe this, how beautiful it is....
This is extraordinarily good! Such a beautiful tone from that whistle plus an excellent accompaniment by the guitarist.
Respect from the Celtic Pagans of Eire. What beautiful haunting music, the old Celtic way. Saoirse agus Saor agus freedom.
are these low D whistles? what a great sound! Very talented.
Just booked to see them at Colchester Arts Centre on Monday next

This is such a mystical song, with hints of tranquillity, peace- and above all love.
Thanks a lot ! I'll definitely learn the irish tin whistle.

I was looking for this since 1 year now i found it.🔥❣❣❣❣
This is a really good recording like goddam! So in tune and clear
I knew I had heard this before! Jeremiah McDade plays this set too. Love the two whistles together. Great sound.
Here’s Jeremiah McDade playing it in 2013. ruclips.net/video/eX0WjIrUUv8/видео.html Does anyone know is this set from a specific Fred Morrison album?
All Celts through n through feel the magic.....transcend

This is soo cool, ah, love it. What flutes do they play on, the tone and the type of flute? Please does anybody know this?
AMAZING ✌️❤️ to y'all
Looking forward to see them on their Danish tour in 2022. And at our festival Back to the Roots Festival the 5th of march 2022. :)
Absolutely beautiful playing
I bought a Goldie Low Whistle in D and one in C, partly thanks to this wonderful recording :)
Thanks for uploading this great music!
But he's playing a Goldie in F..! 😊
So you have to buy the 3rd whistle... 😂👍🏼
I know. I bought the C and D because this gives me the most common keys (F, C, G and D). I have lowered the recording three steps, so I can play along with my D whistle.
@@Waldlaeufer70 sounds amazing... Enjoy 😊👍🏼
If you like playing along to McGoldrick get yourself an F and Eb, thats what he plays most in addition to the D
