I love everyone of the videos, they teach us so much. I've been embroidering for over 12 years, and Kiwi has taught me so much. You can teach an old dog new tricks. Love ITH!!!! Funny story. I made several smaller bowls one year for a craft show and it was rained out. We had just bought some new pots and pans and didn't want them to scratch. I ripped out all the side seams, left the bottoms in tact and they are PERFECT for seperating pots and pans. Keep these ideas coming
I recently closed my pottery studio after 20 years working in clay. I was lucky some years back in my ceramics journey to have the opportunity to hold and examine a Bronze Age bowl. I was fascinated to see not only the maker’s fingerprints but decorative marks forming a pattern on the bowl, and appeared to be created by the original maker’s fingernails! My own bowls aren’t quite as historic as that 4000+ year old bowl, but I am very happy to have soup, cereal, noodles, dessert and pretty much anything else I can justify for my own giant bowls that I used to make and sell. I do shudder to think what archaeologists will make of their finds in thousands of years when they stumble across my warped, misshapen and ugly glaze reject bowls! They might be amused by the Highland Cow sprigs on them. Who knows. 😅 Looking forward to working in a much cleaner fibre medium from now on :)
I can remember my Grandma using certain bowls for certain foods so in a way I still do the same thing especially for holiday dinners with gravy’s and mashed potatoes in matching bowls. Couldn’t live without them.
Love this video. In ancient times bowls were used for both eating and drinking. The earliest have been found in ancient Greece, China and in some Native American cultures. They were made of various materials including clay, metal and wood. In more modern times we have ceramic, plastic and paper; and now, fabric.

Bowls were originally formed by carving out a hollow in a stone, then they began using wood to carve bowls, and eventually began using clay to form them in different shapes and sizes. These were used for cooking, eating, and storage. In pioneer times, flour was stored in barrels and then put into bowls where fat and water were added to form a dough for making biscuits, or Johnny Cakes.
