100x upvote. I read and watched so many guides on friendship evolving and I'm mass breeding and NONE of them were quick enough to be effective. You were the first person to say "USE BERRIES!" I was having such a headache trying to get a 5IV/6IV Azumarill cause I had no female. Thanks to you, I fully evolved in literally the 1/10 a sec to feed 10 berries to a baby to be able to use it as a parent. You are awesome!

the problem is that this mark is only available once per save file.
there's no need to buy the soothe bell! theres a free one on the ground in mesagoza in the area between the eastern most sure cans and the east gate.

I believe there is one area on the beach near levinicia where you can gather a bundle of 10 kelpsy berries just to speed up the collection of the ev reducing berries.

Actually, the EV vitamins also raise happiness by quite a lot, I've had newly caught pokemon being able to evolve in a single lvl up afyer feeding it the 51 vitamins and 4 feathers i tend to use for EV training, and that's without having the soothe bell equipped.
But theres also a bit of info missing here, i think. There's friendliness and then there's affection, and from what i gather and what I've seen, affection can only be gained from the picnic activities and its function is for the "affection hacks" like sometimes resisting a KO, or curing itself from status afflictions or higher critical rates than normal, so its like an easy mode (even easier than normal) hence why i tend not to use the picnic functionality.
Actually it's all 1 single value (Friendship). Affection value was removed from the game in older gens, so now you have initial friendship, when you catch the pokemon, which is generally 50, from there, you can feed them berries, proteins, rare candies, walk around, etc. Those will increase your value up to 160. From 160 to 255 (max value) you can only increase it in camp activities, like playing, washing them and eating sandwiches. When you have between 200-230 frienship, you can survive with 1 hp, when you have 230+, you gain 20% more exp and can sometimes cure status effects, when you hit max 255, you gain more crit % and the NPC awards you the Max Friendship Ribbon.
DAMN I did this like 5 hours ago to get the Great Friend ribbon on my shiny Azumarill and I used your Sword and Shield friendship guide
This guide is useful to evolve pkmn with friendship (160 points), but it's not so much in order to achieve max happiness (255). The only way to do so is to engage in picnic activities, since when you reach 160 friendship, none of those methods mentioned work anymore (free fight mode, berries, proteins, rare candies, etc). From 160 to 255, only picnics do the trick: Playing with a pkmn in camp increases 20, and washing them increases 10. (another way to rapidly increase initial friendship is to catch Pokemons with a Luxury or a Friend Ball, which sets friendship at 150).
PD: Soothe Bell increases all happiness activities by 50%
It’s definitely not 20. I’ve used around ~45 on my Chansey with a soothe bell and it’s not max happiness.
Hey, so when your pokemon walk they get happier right? So for example if i glitch my pokemon to keep walking while I'm afk, will it level up it's friendship?

The auto battle feature does in fact raise happiness because I barely played or washef my Pokemon and somehow the majority of them have Max happiness

i found that using the lets go feature in a team star base running around in a circle boosting on your koraidon/miraidon for a while to be fairly quick
Yeah, it gives you like 3 points for each pokemon you kill, but only up to 160 points.
Ok I sorta need help, I know abt the item that Pokémon can hold to increase friendship faster but I have to have my eevee holding and everstone so it doesn’t evolve into espeon during the day, (I’m trying to get umbreon)
Mine evolved into Sylveon. I don't know what the condition is to get one since I didn't use any stones.

Affection and happiness were fused into friendship in pokemon SwSh, but it’s the same thing in general
I did this and I got the best friends ribbon and then leveled up my shiny riolu but he did not evolve i am confused on why and what I should do about it.
Riolu evolves to Lucario only in the daytime.
I wish I had the patience to hunt for shiny riolu. ;-;

According to Wikipedia, auto battling, will increase your bond, but be careful not to let it get your health too low to make it faint
It won't faint while auto battling, It stops at 1hp
That's right. Killing pokemons gives you like 3 points, but dying yourself, takes away like 5 points, so be careful.
i have to ev train my pokemon just for this and i use like 400,000 dollars and it doesn't evolve

That must be because it's higher lvl than the Badges you currently own. For example, if you have 3 medals, Pokemons up to lvl 30 will obey all your commands, if they're higher, they will not. So the solution there is not friendship, but winning more Gym Badges 👌👌
My Pokémon is at five or four hearts of friendship it won’t evolve
Worth noting i think you can only use the berries if you have evs in that stat, but not if you have none
This is actually incorrect. Berries only stop working after you have no evs in a slot and happiness is maxed out. They work as long as it can affect one or the other.

Anyone know if friendship goes off of your steps or the pokemon's? If I run back and forth past it while not letting it catch up, am I getting a lot because I'm moving a lot without outpacing the pokemon, or am I limiting myself by limiting how far the pokemon goes?
How many battles do you need to win?
I used 12 XP Candy Ls and it evolved immediately. No friendship invested. So, that's nice.

I think it means incase you want to do specialized ev training using those berries essentially resets your evs in the chosen stat.
I could be wrong, i only dabble in the competitive scene.
Giving your pokemon a bunch of showers during a picnic gives it 10 friendship. just do it anywhere from 15-20 times and you will evolve your pokemon. Completely free and can be done at the beginning of the game.
Incase anyone is confused like me before you waste 200 rare candies and Large XP’s you have to evolve it during the day and not night……….. 🤦♂️
also leveling with rare candies and large XP's is detrimental to your EV's if you use too many.

I got mine to the same friend ship but it’s not evolving
Step 1: Get a Friend Ball/Luxury Ball
Step 2: Catch a friendship evo pokemon
Step 2.5: Give the pokemon a Soothe Bell
Step 3: Do literally anything that increases happiness, at least for like 2 minutes
Step 4: Evolve easily
I only needed to use 4 berries to maximize happiness on my riolu
Wdum I used 20 berries and rare candy nothing worked used another 10 and didn't work

Yes, when you trade a pokemon, its base friendship goes back to initial value (which is generally 50) From there you can rise it up no problem. Also, when you trade away 1 of your pokemons, its happiness value resets to default, but when you get it back, it restores to the previous value you had with it.

I used like 70+ berries on my Riolu and it said we were best friends and it still wouldn't evolve. Wtf is wrong with this game?
Had to give it 80 berries to evolve and this was after I battled a bunch of magneton in an outbreak and it never fainted once and was holding a soothe bell
Riolu only evolves to Lucario in the day
the berries are a great method, but the only problem is that i need a strong lucario and the berries decrease stats alot
They don't decrease the stats, they reset the EVs, so in a way, it's like resetting the pokemon to it's natural state, so to speak. Then if you EV train it, it would go back to it's previous strength or possibly even stronger if you invest in the appropriate stats. For example, most people will not EV train their starter because it's your partner from the beginning and use it against anything and everything, so it will end up having points in the wrong attacking stat, but if you reset said stat and invest in the appropriate one, it will now be stronger.
