Northern Mockingbird Singing

- Northern Mockingbird singing and singing and singing and occasionally leaping up out of frame for a brief flight display. He does a lot of Great-tailed Grackle calls, some Cardinal and Cactus Wren. He does a bit of car alarm at 2:50, and he does an AMAZING "Mourning Dove taking off" imitation at 10:21. How many bird calls can you recognize him "mocking"?
Животные
I like when they fly up in the air while they are singing. I know it’s a courtship display, but it makes them seem so joyous!
Thanks because I wondered why they would fly straight up. Reminds of a chicken!! I live in Virginia and they're so entertaining.
I was at the beach earlier this week and this one mockingbird would come and sing next to the dune crossing every morning. I didn’t realize it was a mockingbird until it randomly started quacking! It also imitated a sparrow, cardinal, blue jay, seagull, and more, and even a car alarm at one point! These birds are so amazingly talented
In a neighborhood I often walked through at night, there was 1 particular mockingbird that stood out above the rest. There were many throughout, but this 1 bird was the star: it'd sit in the same tree nearly every night, in the dead center of the neighborhood, and just belt it. I mean _really_ sing; full power, proudly, with unique flow & refined talent. This thing would drop beats like you wouldn't believe, to the point that it must have been heavily exposed to music somewhere. Usually these birds just make a sound, stall a bit then think of what to do next, but This bird would chain all the beats & little intricacies together in genuine progressions, flawlessly all the while. It was always genuinely inspiring to me, the deep & natural understanding an animal can have for music. Animals are always teaching, we must listen.
reminder: Agreed. I too have heard these guys carry a rhythm, and for me it's a welcome song to springtime.

@Ascetic View true!!!! AND HE'S WON 25 GRAMMYS!
That guy is a Matt Bellamy
The herb always makes music sound better... you can hear every note. Even the ones you've never heard before. (Teasing you)
A wonderful creature I never get tired from listening these amazing mockingbirds/ Ruiseñor they’re the GOAT
I like that it pauses between each different song, like it's thinking about what to play next
Just mindblowing🥰
😎
How this bird's brain must be to have developed thinking....thinking about what sound/call will come next.... brilliant
The more I listen the more I think how is this possible.
Doves are always in my backyard, when I open the back sliding glass door they fly off making that sound. This bird does such a great job of mocking that sound LOL.

10:21 the mourning dove take off was dead on. You can actually hear the sound of the wings flapping. Lol, that was great. I have one of these birds here. Just about 5 min ago, he was making all kinds of noise at my front door (as he does everyday). I've noticed that one sound he does seems to be a cat. There's a cat that stops by my house everyday and has been for years. When the cat is here, the bird sometimes props himself up in a tree (above the cat) and makes this cat cry sound. It sounds so funny. Sometimes the cat looks up at the bird like "da fuk did you say??" Lol. It's funny because the bird really does sound like that cat. It's amazing to hear all the different sounds they make. Really cool birds to have in your yard.
Great ::: hajahaha ::
play cd favorite songs see get sing back.
Spot on !! The bird that hangs around here taunt the cats. He will get within feet of the cat and then fly away only to be within reach of another cat. Clever birds!!
@@yoimesmith6226 it's funny that 3 years later another generation of mockingbirds are still here. Now, they've seemed to picked up some different sounds too. I've noticed them mimicking a barking dog. Kind of sounds like one of those small yippie dogs. The same cat still comes over my house everyday and recently I've heard two of the mockingbirds barking at the cat. It sounds like a little "woof , woof". I just find it funny to hear a bird (seemingly) barking at a cat. 😆. It might just be a coincidence or maybe they've actually learned that some dogs bark at cats. So they might actually be doing this to try and scare the cat away. Unfortunately for the mockingbirds, the cat is completely unfazed by these threats. 😄
The one we got 8mtaties a crow a falcon a hawk
Wow amazing bird I love the Mockingbirds songs so random and unpredictable. I hope this little guy stays in your area for many years to come !
My, but he's a sassy boy! Many thanks for this wonderful performance!
The mockingbird that lives in the tree outside my window has learned to mimic car alarms.
Is a unabomber reference?
i once raised a mockingbird too, it learned to mimic my farts.
Oh that's not even funny
I haven't heard the same song twice yet I believe. Every night faithfully for two and a half hours every night.??
if you whistle/sing a melody in front of them 1K times they will imitate
Such beautiful vocal ranges. It amazes me how many ways a bird can sing alone!
Oscar performance 👏 😅
The Mocking birds are like singing Sapphires beautiful and fragile! Thank you.
Beautiful 😍. I just saw two of these birds while I was eating lunch on my backyard patio. One flew behind the other. Then, the first chased behind the second, as if they were courting or being playful. I searched their description, and my state's website immediately identified their species as the Northern Mockingbird. I was astonished that they can imitate and know (or remember) over 200 songs; and will sometimes sing all night long. The last time I was outside, I saw two beautiful white birds flying perfectly in sync 🕊 🕊 back in 2020. Holy Spirit I hear you loud and clear!!! Amen!
This is definitely the little guy in my tree at night. Unless I sit for a while it's never the same call twice.
same
That dove take-off is INCREDIBLE!
I love this. We used to have annoying, barking dogs that would also whine, and it was funny to hear the mocking bird make those sounds (higher pitch of course but in the same pattern). Back when police radios used to be heard outside the car, they used to make the pre-call sounds. ("BLEE-BOO-BOO-BOO-BEEP-BOOPDOODIDLY-OOP").
I missed this bird song that I always heard from the backyard of my old house, after moving to a new area. This type of bird can really sing so many different tones/songs. I didn't know the name of the bird but finally found this video and I can play it at home and enjoy it as at the old house. Thank you, for capture it and share the video!
It's fun to sit out in the backyard seeing if you can come up with something for them to imitate. It's mind blowing the wild number of sounds these birds can make continually here in Fresno, California. My wife had magpies in Adelaide and also these beautiful bright colored little birds everywhere around the trees and lawn at her university--Flinders. And it's amazing how intelligent some birds are--ravens, crows, jays, magpies, and mocking birds, too.
A mocking bird outside my window got really excited about this lol
I hear these mockingbirds every day -- in the front yard and back yard -- while I am out working. It is like a little bit of heaven to hear them. This is an excellent video - I love seeing the bird as it sings!
JaguarJulie Brady Right? Humans who have patience no for bird songs are no longer human.
Marko Barrows No patience.
I have a lot of patience and a lot of mockingbirds! ;)

I love mockingbirds. They are just so happy singing their hearts out! It is such a joy to watch and listen to them. We could all take a lesson from the mockingbird about how to enjoy life!!!
That is the Florida state bird boi!!!
Such a beautiful bird! I remember when I was young there was one that would imitate the sound of my brother's digital alarm clock.
My dad told me when I was little birds singing to the lord in haven..& I still believed god is good thanks for that great video
Wow! The mourning dove IS amazing! That really made me smile!
Imagine you just walk to mockingbird habitat and they started Rick rolling you to impress you
Just heard him do a perfect mourning dove
How does one not like the songs? I love hearing these guys in the morning!
If I could, I would kill every single one of these bird. I love animals, I am vegetarian for the animals but there is one animal I hate and this is it. They make noise for no reason, all day long and for the 4-5 months of mating season at night as well. They literally make noise all day.
@@MrJoeSarkis i agree ...we had one a night for years.
@@MrJoeSarkis Omg, someone who knows the agony of these annoying ass little pest.
I actually just got two of them that have been living in and around my yard and they're just very annoying and they stick out just making noise for no reason.
One of them is sitting in my backyard right now on my chair just singing along. I actually think they're getting ready to make a nest in my tree. Hell no to that.
I don't mind them so much throughout the day, it's the mornings that drive me nuts.
I really really dislike mockingbirds.. they nest outside my window and wont let me sleep!
I love them. they're fearless too!
I used this song to bring my little mockingbird friend out from hiding in the bush... worked TOO well and he dive bombed my head! I got so startled! LOL! Thank you for the video! Sidenote: I won't be doing that again lol
On everything they be trippin. Little guy dived on a tree close to me so i paused it. He started lookin around then flew away lol
Imagine a mockingbird Rick rolling you
In Houston,I played my flute with them, one day one showed up early. I played and it danced on the left. wire. that went on for months and years .One day it disappeared and I became sad , something sad occurred. One day I was woken by extremely loud mocking bird . I went out to see. I was my friend,at the porch door. It flew to the fence and turned left dancing, louder hanging, low and behold little ones flew fast to the fence, they all stopped dancing .the parent flew of the fence and the followed ,singing. they flew from one end to the other 5 times. showed me it was more then the food that attracted the bird. Today I have all kinds of birds attracted. whipper Wills sing me to sleep and wake me up, Cardinals ,and doves with mocking birds all during the day, with blue jays who also gat rid the big wasps.I consider them family
Living in South Florida I am blessed to see and HEAR these birds. At night I sometimes hear that one lone mockingbird singing.
That’s the desperate one, like the guy at the bar at 2am
I didn't know that cute little bird outside was the one causing all the trouble! We kept hearing the sound of morning songbirds all night, frogs, owls all day and night, and quails, sometimes even sounded like a rainforest or jungle out there. after 6 yrs here, finally found out at least half the ''animals and birds'' we thought we had, are all mockingbird! lol
You should feel blessed! :3 the city sucks!
tamara holloway same here in canada quebec, i wake up with sound of birds from the caraibe sometimes. Some i dont know.
@@cremitadelimon I live in the city (Los Angeles) & I hear these every day in my front yard!
Too funny 😂
woah he sounded exactly like a dove taking off at 10:21. ive been around lots of mocking birds and never heard them do that, thats pretty cool
That was so cool, I have never heard them do that here, we have 2 pairs that hang here all day and go through all the calls, never have I heard them do the dove sound.
@Lazy Bonez there were some morning doves in the background at the beginning, but the mockingbird did that soud between 10:20 - 10:30 . I can't believe it myself loll..
Oh wow good catch!!!!!!!
Last winter there were several of these nesting in our chimney near the furnace. I could hear them singing a little more quietly than they do outside. Kind of a mockingbird's indoor voice I suppose. I told my wife about it and got the expected "Oh, we'll have to get them out and the chimney will have to be repaired and..." until I took her downstairs to listen.
Once she heard them sing all the talk about making them leave was over.

I like this bird's song, it's very nice.
I've just recently begun to 'bird watch' and am thankful for RUclips which posts so many different things. I thought the bird outside my home was a mockingbird but this definitely confirms it. I haven't heard the imitations yet but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Thanks so much for sharing!
WE JUST ENJOYED TWO OF THEM NESTING IN A BIG FAUX FIR TREE IN OUR YARD....THEY BUILD BEAUTIFUL NESTS AND BOTH FEED THEIR BABIES. THEY HAD 3. ALL FLEW AWAY FINE....LOTS OF THEM HERE ALONG OUR ARROYO IN LAS CRUCES New Mexico AND THE MALES LOVE TO SING AT NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING....XOX
That was amazing when he imitated a morning dove flight! great video!
Sooo, there's like 1 by my window every morning at the crack of dawn screaming and calling loud enough to make you go blind. And it won't go away. These birds are SO LOUD!!!
Mine is very polite. Only performs tween 6 & 9. Late at night he only mocks owls. Very soothing.
Funny beautiful bird.
I am only here to say that I heard this bird outside my house in thr middle of night! 3 am exactly now im working and I cant sleep ahahaha
I love when they come to Fresno California and serenade the neighborhoods. Listening to them fills my spirit and I look forward to their visit every year.
That car alarm imitation at 2:50 onwards!!! If you noticed he did do abit of the car alarm from the start of the video too
Ashri Mustaffa jjjnni
The people who made the car alarm sounds, imitated the sound of some birds or some insects if you didn't know.... humans imitates nature to make their artificial creations
That sounded to me like a air conditioner coming, maybe the bird is singing near that.
What a variety of different frequencies are made. Simply remarkable.
I used to "program" the mockingbirds around my condo in Savannah. Since they have a finite number of songs they remember, you can insert a few that they'll imitate, and you can start to recognize them by which songs they sing. :D
Cody Rush internet jc
I play this every morning on loud and my yard gets swarmed with them, so funny!!
Sneak up behind it and say...Boo!
there's one of these guys in my neighborhood that sings throughout the night. I can go outside at 2am, and he's singing his heart out, and will even switch his song up if I whistle back to him. I love it.
Wow, what amazing footage, showcasing all the sounds made by this very talented bird.
This video capture is one of the best on birds and calls.
Our tropical bird do not get enough time to sing like this and there is rarely a high note. Ours are always fighting with other birds and very wary of our black hawk/eagle that frightens all when seen.
I love these. We had one sound like a backdoor or chainsaw lol. We tried to figure out what door was opening
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What a great shot of the little fella. Its so great to hear it & be close enough to see him vocalizing. 🤗 they are in my backyard but they are so high I can’t see them clear enough. I get too close & they fly off.
This is our state bird hear in Florida and i love listening to them sing...
Beautiful birds .
Gorgeous Sound!
Omg I love mockingbirds.
Omg I LOVE HIM
7:06 "Perrier! Perrier! Perrier!"
Extremely precious..! 🙏
This is such a fine and excellent example of the persistence of a Mockingbird and their incredible songs, and seems proof of their intentions. A Lyre will not generally not go on for six or more hours as will a North American Mockingbird. The 'North American Mockingbirds" have at this point been documented to "imitate" over 250 other species.
Awesome so very cool this bird🤙🏽🌸🏝
Just spotted one, amazing, he was singing many different songs
Excellent video. I just played it for a mocking bird and had him flying around my car. He, it knows I park here and I enjoy watching them.
The Mockingbird is no less amazing than a Lyre, who comes from a similar bloodline.
Nature is wondrous!
Ughhhhh I just want to sleeeep!
En California tenemos parvadas son bellisimos me encantan .thanks for your video God bless you .
FANTASTIC!!! What a Diva! Thanks a bunch
I LIKE AND LOVE THE BIRDS
Oh wow lovely compilation! Thank you for sharing
amazing footage of a beautiful day of the mockingbird.
Ooooh so that’s what that sound was all these years!
Este es uno de los mejores videos de sinsonte que he visto. No me canso de verlo. Felicicitaciones...
This bird is also known as zenzontle that means in nahuatl bird of 400 voices..
Wonderful!!!!
The little things we take for granted. I'm 43 and I just now noticed.
Chris Hall Its never too late, I am 55 and have grown to love them and their songs as cherished moments.
Beautiful, I miss Mockingbirds. I used to live in GA now live in NW Massachusetts in the mountains and they aren't up here.
Superb🌸🌸🌸🌸come from heaven
I really enjoyed that!
Truly amazing! I have them at my feeder in Cranford,New Jersey.
I think he's doing a killdeer impression at 11:43, just after a car alarm.
So lovely
THANX FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO !

Got one living in the roof of our house that does a pretty spot-on police siren.
