I toldmy wife I can actually remember Paul Darrow's words as he's helped from the car at the end..some 50 years after watching this as a 13 year old! Perhaps it's because I'd moved to a new school and had trouble settling in and used to dread Monday mornings like his character.

Hatfield didn't change much at least since the last time we were there. I think I recognize the pointy church. And the view toward St Albans. Funny ending that show. I mean peculiar.
Open Ended Ending, Implies that there were a small gang of kids breaking in , but DC to me looked justified as no clear external evidence , Prints were not checked on the ;stolen' items , and the co-incidence of missing items prior at the workplace would give a general direction that the husband was responsible so I dont think I could completely set the DC's thinking getting in the way of the correct result, but its a twist in a way that both men are 'failures'
My parents didn’t get their first fridge until 1974 and no washing machine until I had almost left home things were proportionally a lot more expensive then
Trouble of today programmes too much violence sex don't appreciate good tv programmes and writers no back ground loud noise music sound effects just good stories
The church is St Johns at The Hilltop. The house is at the bottom of Falcon Close - we lived at the top but a few years after this was filmed.
I lived in south Hatfield up to 2003 all very nostalgic happy memories indeed

Well done acting by Darrow. Trench is really wound up. His eyes are very convincing. Stick to your meds, buddy.

Two young men with a lot of perspective to gain.
Paul Darrow appears in Z-Cars. And before the first scene finishes, the set is all chewed up. I suspect this is not a coincidence.
Does anyone know if they filmed down Holme Road?
1973 with no fridge or washing machine; Really?
My parents didn’t get their first fridge until 1974 and no washing machine until I had almost left home things were proportionally a lot more expensive then
Was this filmed in Liverpool?
Yes in Everton
Well ... "Newtown" was Kirkby outside Liverpool in the borough of Knowsley
God.. I'd forgot how boring that program was 🤣
