It’s really sad that this ride now is just a carcass of its former self. They just turned off effects and called it a refurbishment. I’m so glad I got to ride it when it was this version.
DAMN I WISH I GOT TO RIDE IT WHEN IT WAS LIKE THIS but sadly I was too small to ride it when it was like this and when I finally reached the limit it turned into the horrible remake.
For those of you who don't know, the story of this ride is an old man finds a seahorse statue that's why he stops you at very beginning because he's getting too old for all the beauty of Atlantis the seahorse's magic is the sparkle that guides you medusa is the mermaid guide, when she laughs, she was laughing at how stupid believing you could come into atlantis anytime you wanted to that's why she confronts you saying..."now you've don it,you puny little pony (The term pony is used referring to you using the seahorse) your friends are no longer welcome here!" So the seahorse runs and hides that's why he pops out of the little jar just before the big overhead medusa comes out she wants to kill you when you drop your escaping, but that's not ok according to Medusa that's why she states "leaving so soon? I think not! Hahaha."so she lures you into the Atlantis treasure room and that surprise drop is her next attempt to kill you
The ride scared me shitless as a kid. Interesting to know there was a story based on it. I'm not sure if it makes it more or less scary but I know I didn't expect that I'd see Medusa flip her bitchswitch on the ride when I was 10.
Robert Caulfield Wrong. Despite this story being gone (well at least until Kraken VR) it was the old man who is the harbor master invites you on a journey into Atlantis but he was aware of the dangers and had the Golden Seahorse to guide you through safely. However, Medusa wanted all the treasure for herself and after seeing you trying to explore, she lures you in to warn you but the seahorse tries to stop her which gets her to reemerge Atlantis and tries to kill you by sending you down the drop. But you survive and right before escaping, Medusa brings the boat back to Atlantis as it starts sinking back down in an attempt to trap you there forever. But when you reached the treasure room, if you watched the screen and listen carefully, you would see the seahorse stopping her and she would say "No! Nooo! NOOOOO!" as you escape with the Golden Seahorse and Medusa is defeated and Atlantis sinks back down.
I rode this as a kid and the part where the Medusa statue jumped out with the glowing green eyes scared me so bad lmao, it's a shame they've removed all the story telling part. It made a great memory for me as a kid
I will never forget the way my sister screamed when that popped out. We still laugh about it to this day. And on the first left my other sister screamed thinking we were going to drop and you make that S-curve to continue climbing. My dad had no idea the roller coaster part was coming. This really is a sleeping gem just waiting to be awakened again. I don’t. Think Seaworld realizes how competitive they could be by just fixing this ride. It really is one of the best out there
I agree! The story was amazing and they took out any story it had! Just polish up the bots, update the video, and maybe give the scenes a new paint job! Don't ruin the whole fucking thing!
when you think about, its just jurassic park river adventure only its about traveling to a ancient city rather then traveling to a theme park/zoo with living dinosaurs, and then end you encounter medusa instead of a t-rex.
+Link123456789 Tiptip well this was created around 1998 and original jp was built in 1992 however ioa counterpart was 2001 so if u do the math by orlando n not hollywood this was b4 jp
I live in San Diego and the Journey to Atlantis there is nowhere NEAR as cool. It always breaks down too since it goes in and out of the water. The Florida location looks so much better
To be fair I was on the ride today. Literally today. Last when I was on there I was live four and holy shit I was so sad that Medusa didn't try to kill me. Even though she gave me nightmares I gave no fucks. Bring me back those nightmares anyway! Fuck that disco shit they play instead of the music. This is like the tomb raider ride in Ohio that got snubbed into a haunted house.
Well that refurb finally came, and it was overall not a great thing to happen from what I've seen and heard. Many of the effects are often still not on or working only a few years after the refurb
Thank you for posting this video. I finally got to ride it even if it was just virtually. My children have season passes and I go ever so often with them, my youngest always refuses to go on it--- it was nice to finally "get to ride it". lol
It's time for SeaWorld to go in and fix up this ride like Disney and Universal have done with Indiana Jones and Revenge of the Mummy. None of the effects shown here are used anymore, there's no story at all, and the whole building looks like it hasn't been repainted in decades.
This ride really was fun. I wish I could go back. It was one of the coolest rides ever! FLORIDA, I LOVE U FOR THIS RIDE!! Lol and l like Florida for being, well, FLORIDA. Lol.
I went on that ride when I was 6. I cried and they took a picture of you on the ride and I did a happy face, they took the picture and I continued crying.
Such an awesome ride. Deff. one of my faves in my hometown of Florida. It looks like it's gone through alot of refurbs since I last went on it in 2004. It looks cleaner and more colorful inside the show building than when I rode it. Great ride. Love it, just wish it was longer. :D
My dad and sister went on this ride. It was pouring rain outside, and right before the park closed for the night, so the ride was even darker, and there was literally only 4 people on the ride. It scared the crap out of both my dad and my sister, since they weren't expecting it to be like it was, since my dad's girlfriend said that it wasn't scary at all. I'm glad I didn't go on it .
@Frogki1 i realised after i out the comment down that id got the park wrong. least yall knew what i meant tho. i wasnt saying anything against the story of the ride. i was just saying that you didnt get as wet on this as you do on tidal wave
We went to SeaWorld in March and it was freezing- no way was I getting on a water ride! Thanks for the supercool video-- now I don't feel like a missed a single thing. :) :)
I love this ride! I love the big drops too! The ride was fun and you get wet, best part was HUGE MONSTER DROP AT END! You get a nice wind and get wet when your in first seat!
Really Liked how they used mermaids/Siren and how they are actually evil really good! My sister was scared of that mermaid statue that went from a girl laugh to a demonic laughter- glad they were used in a ride, finally :D
i love the fact that the face on the wall reminds me of "the mummy", the big flashing mermaid reminded me of "jurrasic park" and the people coming out of the pots is like "pirates of the caribean" lol
I went on that ride with a 72 year old woman and a 63 year old ( my granny is the younger one and the older on us my great aunt) and i was having the time of my life, at the end they couldnt move!!!
This is SO different from the San Diego one! I can't decide which one is better... This one is a lot more thematic to the story, while the San Diego one kind of has it's own theme. But the San Diego one also takes you up in an elevator so... like literally you go down the waterfall drop and to take you back up to the roller coaster part, you go in an elevator. Like while your still on the ride. If that makes ANY sense at all.
I remember riding this a while back. I went down the big drop and thought it was over. I was actually hoping it was because I felt like my "stuff" was in a vice grip. It happens when I'm weightless. But then It just went on, but thankfully it was not to big a fall, because i was in Pain. I did enjoy it though...except for the Pain.
i remember being confused on this ride because I was so used to the San Diego version which has no dark ride segment. I thought that I was riding Pirates of the Caribbean!
I love this ride! I love the big drops too! The ride was fun and you get wet, best part was HUGE MONSTER DROP AT END! You get a nice wind and get drenched when your in first seat!
I always loved looking for the places the sea horse pops up during the first part of the ride. Especially after the siren transforms and he is shaking like crazy
They guy in the beginning is Stavros. A wise, old Greek fisherman who offers Atlantis visitors protection from the sirens. He says, "Fly Hermes. Show them the way!". And Hermes is the Seahorse.
back when i was younger i wanted to ride this ride. we stood in line for like an hour and a half, while in line we noticed that there were some carts stoped on the hill and they werent going anywhere. they shut it down because a crazy thunderstorm was coming. it was really funny stubborn people in the carts jumping off and climbing off the walls and stuff
I went on this on a 3rd Grade School Field Trip and I with my chaperone group...I was literally screaming SO loud! Everyone on my cart and the other heard me!
I love your in the middle of watching this with all these great visuals and props and things and you just look to the right of the screen at 1:30 and you can see this bright EXIT sign!! It does kinda ruin it!! :) xxx
@coasterforce are you like fearless because i am terrified of rollercoasters and short drops, when i went on journey to atlantis i freaked out before the drop.

yes!! I went to seaworld last year and was mostly excited to ride this one but it was a complete disappointment
DAMN I WISH I GOT TO RIDE IT WHEN IT WAS LIKE THIS but sadly I was too small to ride it when it was like this and when I finally reached the limit it turned into the horrible remake.
Agree !
@@FilburtturleYou mean ‘demake?’
This was utter perfection. Rode it 10 times in one visit.

what old man?
+Theex pendable Bob Jefferson
thank you for that. I was 9 when this came out. I had a panic attack on it so I'm never riding it in person again.
The ride scared me shitless as a kid. Interesting to know there was a story based on it. I'm not sure if it makes it more or less scary but I know I didn't expect that I'd see Medusa flip her bitchswitch on the ride when I was 10.

Watching this and then watching the new 2017 POV makes me very sad indeed... They really ruined it.
I agree! The story was amazing and they took out any story it had! Just polish up the bots, update the video, and maybe give the scenes a new paint job! Don't ruin the whole fucking thing!
HS Designs how did they ruin it
@@gabey6488 Its completely silent now. No Medusa mermaid, no seahorse, nothing. It's so sad

when the awesome effects weren't removed
When you are going to Sea World for the first time, and you're like 9 years old not knowing what to expect. Bad things happen.
agreed
Same
KatieElfman I’m 9
KatieElfman I agree I had nightmares about that Medusa statue for weeks
Same thing happened to me when I was 9. Watching this still gives me goosebumps at 27 🤦♀️
when you think about, its just jurassic park river adventure only its about traveling to a ancient city rather then traveling to a theme park/zoo with living dinosaurs, and then end you encounter medusa instead of a t-rex.

+Link123456789 Tiptip hope this rippes uni off, i love universal, best theme park ever
It is not medusa if you look close it has SEAWEED HAIR not snakes

Supposedly, it’s super ran down and all of the effects are off.
This poor ride really does need a makeover. Not change the whole thing just clean up some effects and fix some anamatronics.
Agreed. Oh the 90's
ANIMATRONICS FU** I THOUGHT THEY WERE TOONS THANKS YOU FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 1,2, AND 3 D:
Not too mention it's easy to get stuck
this ride desperately needs a refurb, hardly any of the show elements even work anymore, just needs a giant face lift
what type of ytb name is that mark larj
+H2O: Mako Magic lark

It's not that the effects don't work anymore. They removed them intentionally because it was 'too scary'
Well that refurb finally came, and it was overall not a great thing to happen from what I've seen and heard. Many of the effects are often still not on or working only a few years after the refurb
I blame the seahorse
We went to sea world for my 5th grade field trip and my and my friend went on this 5 times.
Kiara McClendon I went in 4th grade
SAME!
When the lady come at the end just before the drop... thats scary as hell.
Back when it was actually a good ride
still a good ride but less theming sadly
I rode this 15 times back to back wit my lady cousins. I was 7 yrs old at the time, good memories.
Thank you for posting this video. I finally got to ride it even if it was just virtually. My children have season passes and I go ever so often with them, my youngest always refuses to go on it--- it was nice to finally "get to ride it". lol
I was 8 when I went on this ride. I had nightmares about it fr the longest time too.
Im 25 now I rode this when I was 6 and till this day I’m scared of mermaids and dark water
I love how when your going up the first time your like OH NO THE DROP * doors open and youre alreeady screaming* Oh its not yet
We went here for 5th grade trip aswell. Rode everything 3-4 times (manta, kraken, atlantis)
Um...did anyone else notice the Beetlejuice theme? O O
I'd say that the whole ride is creepy lol
It's time for SeaWorld to go in and fix up this ride like Disney and Universal have done with Indiana Jones and Revenge of the Mummy. None of the effects shown here are used anymore, there's no story at all, and the whole building looks like it hasn't been repainted in decades.
i admit , i was a little freaked at the beggining. but when i saw the mermaid with the glowing green eyes, i screamed and grabbed on to my mother .
I love this ride. Always had a place in my heart. I love my rides with theatre mixed in. :3

This must've been a while ago. The cars aren't red, white, and blue anymore. They're now more stone colored to match the theme of the ride.
Really Liked how they used mermaids/Siren and how they are actually evil really good!
My sister was scared of that mermaid statue that went from a girl laugh to a demonic laughter- glad they were used in a ride, finally :D
This version scared the 7 year old version of me but boy it was great!
Oh God, I loved this thing. I didn't expect the roller coaster part at the ending.
I HATE-LOVED IT SINCE I LOST MY VOICE but I liked the good marmaid... And I didn't get wet at all
I love the bit at the end:)
I rode this ride 5 times in a row. It was awesome :)
that is the best ride ever!!!!!!!!!! u never no when ur about to drop...... i love sea world!!!!!! i went on it like 5 times!!!!!
THIS WAS THE BEST RIDE EVAR
I first went on this when I was five.
FIVE.
I probably wet myself but didn't notice after getting soaked directly after.
This ride has traumatized me till this day
loved this ride, did not expect the fast bit at the end..I went Aug 13, wanna go again, loved it

Great quality COASTERFORCE, keep it up!
So its a roller coaster and a water slide?? :) xxx
Oh My Gosh...this looks like the best ride!
@udonthavetoknowme maybe atlantis just had a bunch of exit signs, how would you know? it was going to sink into the sea, maybe they just plan ahead...
this was my first thrill ride...had me in tears
this ride was wicked loved it! oohh we may be going back to florida next year cant wait! we went in 2002 and 2006 NEED to go back lol! x
I went on this ride when I was little and it scared me so much. It was fun to ride it at night though
I Peed myself on this ride like 5 years ago 😂😂😂
Joseph Cabrera omg lmao
this ride scared me AND IM IN 6TH GRADE!!!
i remember being confused on this ride because I was so used to the San Diego version which has no dark ride segment. I thought that I was riding Pirates of the Caribbean!
Blake Han that's at Disney not sea world lol
I shit my pants walking into the entrance so I just ran off because of the darkness, I didn't see it and this was my chance to redeem myself.
holy crap. this is the ride i went on when i was 6, you can imagine how that went.
I went for the first time in mid-winter break...OMG I LOVED IT!
I come from Germany and i LOVE this RIDE!
I love this ride! I love the big drops too! The ride was fun and you get wet, best part was HUGE MONSTER DROP AT END! You get a nice wind and get drenched when your in first seat!
i loved it! rode it 9 times but i rode it at night = best experience!
Finally an Atlantis themed ride that explore the connection it has with mermaids...at least somewhat
I went to Sea World on Saturday, as soon as my friend and I got up to the entrance, the ride shut down!
Seriously, my daughter was 7 when she went on this and she had a great time!
That looks really smooth and slow and the drop doesnt look too big but when i rode it it was much different BUT I STILL LOVE IT
back when i was younger i wanted to ride this ride. we stood in line for like an hour and a half, while in line we noticed that there were some carts stoped on the hill and they werent going anywhere. they shut it down because a crazy thunderstorm was coming. it was really funny stubborn people in the carts jumping off and climbing off the walls and stuff
the drop at the end is sick!!
I went on this ride when I was 8 I'm 11 now and that ride was awesome
Wow this looks so much cooler than the San Diego one.
I went on this on a 3rd Grade School Field Trip and I with my chaperone group...I was literally screaming SO loud! Everyone on my cart and the other heard me!
I love it how the beetleguese theme is just put in there
this seaworld is better than the other two
I remember going on this ride last year, it was awsome!!!!
I like the little drop at the side after the big drop xD
The fact that you think ohh its only small, but it gets you more wet than the bigger drop!!
Well this ride is pretty much dead now since they removed all the cool parts about it
This ride looks so fun!!!!
This was my FIRST rollar coaster but im still scared of other ones cause sometimes people die on them.
hi, can someone please tell me if this ride is high? im afraid of heights but this ride looks fun. :) please let me know before thursday. THANKS
@4everAlyssa it isnt at the end, it's actually the first drop of the ride
i was scared to go on that lol not a big ride person but seeing this i think i will go on it next time
I love your in the middle of watching this with all these great visuals and props and things and you just look to the right of the screen at 1:30 and you can see this bright EXIT sign!! It does kinda ruin it!! :) xxx
I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!!
this ride was epic!
i love this ride. for some reason
Loved the ride :Dx
I hate to be that guy but this old version is seriously MUCH better
That... was.... AWESOME!!!
@coasterforce are you like fearless because i am terrified of rollercoasters and short drops, when i went on journey to atlantis i freaked out before the drop.
Wow the one in San Diego is nothing like this... 0.0 This looks so much better! :D
Thunder and lightning effects at 1:39 is my favorite part of the ride
1:53 "You are not the first to pass this way, *Eye of Odin begins to glow* nor shall you be the last. Those who seek the spirit of Norway face peril and adventure, but more often find beauty and charm." *The Eye of Odin disappears*
Woops, wrong ride but couldn't resist.....
i love the last part (it's like a rollercoaster) :D
