  • In this Insinkerator garbage disposal installation, I try to figure out how I'm going to make it fit into this double island sink configuration. Having recently purchased this home in Bay Ridge this former Manhattan couple we're desperately missing their garbage disposal. After carefully planning out the job I took on the challenge to install yet another Insinkerator garbage disposal.
    Enjoy & Happy Plumbing

    I really appreciate your videos.
    I removed all garbage disposals from my apt building. Tenants over load them with apple pie peels, etc, and they eventually corrode around the flange and leak. I take it you can't have ABS or PVC drain pipe in New York?

      Worse appliance's ever, it's an invitation to throw anything down the drain. You can use P.V.C. pipe in residential applications 5 stories and below. No A.B.S.

    I have a friend who is a landlord and he doesn't have garbage disposals on any of his units anymore because tenants will invariably try to shove a complete chicken carcass down the sink and then be confused why it stops working.

    Clean work.... Totally different from where it's down down south. Alot of guys just bring a studor vent up in the corner. It must be a pain To have to change an angle stop or faucet replacement having to disassemble all that piping.

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos
      @BobsPlumbingVideos  2 года назад +2

      Studor vents not allowed in NY, yes it can sometimes be a Big P.I.A. When having to do a faucet exchange.

    Damb thats insane, in Florida we just turn up 3" pipe in the vanity with a 3×1-1/2 san tee with a c.o. plug on the top for island sinks

    • @jacksplumbingvideos7147
      @jacksplumbingvideos7147 2 года назад

      i've seen many photos of that. i don't see venting, is venting needed for that large of pipe on just a sink?

    • @danielparsons8908
      @danielparsons8908 2 года назад

      @@jacksplumbingvideos7147
      The 3" pipe is considered a combination waste and vent. Because its oversized it allows more room for air flow from the v.t.r.

  • @ForeverSinz
    @ForeverSinz 2 года назад +1

    So I thought code was for it to be 6 inches above flood line to made a turn for a vent.
    Also would a AAV be used to forgo that huge headache?

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos
      @BobsPlumbingVideos  2 года назад

      That vent goes down runs between the joists over to the vent stack goes up to a level above the flood level rim of the sink before it connects back in to the stack.

    You mean you have to reach under the sink to turn the garbage disposal on or off?
    Watching this video do you know I am reminded that I am missing the cover for my InSinkErator? Just a gaping hole on the left-hand sink bowl🙄😪
    It walked off the job site when I was remodeling my kitchen

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos
      @BobsPlumbingVideos  2 года назад

      There is a magnetic switch accessory (that black collar) just push down and twist the cover and bingo it turns on!

    here in wisconsin we use pvc for most of our drain lines. I heard that new york uses a lot of ABS.
