Notes:
- Source ID 128746 (Mason B. Taylor) provides a few brief patches.
- Brief digital crackles in 'Space'.
16 bit 44.1 kHz FLAC Level 8
[This source shifts to a lesser quality transfer or source after a cut in Fire On The Mountain. The patch of Mason's tape here in FOTM repeats 0m34s of the song. The first part of Scarlet Fire before the cut was around 1.5% fast, more or less. See notes below.]

Post-FOTM cut SBD (shnid=34938):
Fix of shnid 3371
Not much of a fix here - I merged the two drums tracks together into
one to make set two seamless; for some reason drums had been split
across CDs 2 and 3. There's still a cut at 3.5 secs into drums. If
anyone has a good AUD patch for this show please take a stab at fixing
it. Also, the Scarlet>Fire patch could use some work, it's not
pitch-adjusted or cross-faded.

Set 1 SBD>Cm>Reel>Dat>CD>EAC>SHN [not used for matrix]
Set 2 SBD>Cm>?>Dat>CD>EAC>SHN [sounds like a Cassette Master transfer]
Audience Patch:
All of Scarlet Begonias and the
first 1m20s of Fire on the Mountain
DAT>CD Transfer by the usual
gang you c around the community
CD>EAC>SHN Transfer by Saint Stephen
EAC=copy and test,offsets configured
wav>shn done with MKW tool.
uploaded to etree 4/2/01 - enjoy
[This source for set 2 is better sounding than the newer No. 165179 transfer, after a large patch early on. See notes below.]

AUD (shnid=128746):
"Mason B. Taylor was a taper from Chicago that recorded concerts by many bands in the Chicagoland area and on Dead tours. He used a Nakamichi 550 with Nakamichi 300 mics with shotgun capsules for most of his earlier recordings. In later years he used Sony D-5 and Sony D-3 cassette recorders with Nakamichi 300 mics.
Mason captured spectacular musical moments and loved to share them with his closest friends. In honor of Mason and all the love he put into his recordings we are now able to share these moments with those who can appreciate them most.
As the shows get uploaded we would love for you to share your stories about the epic times the music evokes so we can all dial back into that moment when the magic was happening.
Thanks to Mason's family and his Chicago and Cleveland friends for opening up Mason's Jar"
Recorded By Mason Taylor on a Nakamichi 550 Cassette Deck,
on chrome tapes, with Nakamichi microphones.
Transferred on a Nak Cr7A.
[Circulated 5/18/14]

Thank you to Jim Blackwood, Jason Chastain, Steve Gravel, Saint Stephen and Bill Tetzeli for the SBD transfers,
to Mason B. Taylor and Joani Walker for recording the show,
and to Charlie Miller for Walker's AUD transfer.

Notes:
Jerry's guitar is mostly absent in the SBD recording during Cold Rain And Snow and Greatest Story Ever Told, fading in and out occasionally, but the matrix mix really helps with this, giving Jerry nearly full volume - a particularly good example of when a blend can work very well and fix issues. Great crowd levels too.

Always liked Brent tunes....Easy To Love You I got to see 1 x....still one of my favorite Brent songs..."There is no danger but from the Devil. He may want you but I'm in his way " ✌️🤓
Dear god. Brent’s tone on Dancin’ is shaking my brain violently within my skull
This is his second Let It Grow (the first is August 9/2/79) and it's dazzling how much more together he has it already with this one. Augusta is tentative, plus an engaging exploratory solo and a duo with Jerry. Now he's got all sorts of ideas to put out there -- very present. A fast study, Brent.
Steve Miller Approved, Keep being good at it LostmYDayJOB ,...CHEERS!
This is the best series of concert uploads on RUclips. Thank you
This is my favorite year in GD history. 11-9-79 would be my favorite show.
Hey thanks so much JBS! Yeah late '79 is some of my absolute favorite Dead too, Brent injected so much energy into their playing right from the jump.
Both Fall 79 tours are great, Brent catching on in a big way and the band stepping up. The 2nd night of Cape Cod (10/28) and the middle show at Nassau (11/1) are standouts, and in the second tour both nights of Pittsburgh (11/30 & 12/1), Chicago 12/4, St. Louis 12/9 and both nights of Kansas City, with the 11th, yes, ending on a peak show -- and then home to Oakland Auditorium with all time great shows on 12/26 and 12/28. The motherlode.
This rips this is the first time hearing this one. I wish they released this instead of the night before but we can’t always get what we want
My favorite opener! Jerry ❤️🔥💥👌
The Peggy 0" alone is worth the price of admission 🎉🎉🎉❤
I agree 💯👍
I liked that when Jerry played a little bit of Finculi Funicula at the end of Greatest Story.
usually played when Bob was taking forever to get his shit together….
Love December 79, they got some really great shit goin on and i never heard this one so virgin ears say txs for the upload brother 👍. 😅
79 is such an underrated year imo. Awesome dancing/franklins 🔥
You are wrong
@@ChinacatSunflower-cw1cd ?
@ChinacatSunflower-cw1cd what's he wrong about? I agree that 78 and 79 are both largely underrated.
@@ianf.8012 clonky circus cuntesk, are the words that come to mind when i think of the keys that are brought on closing into the 80s, and onwards.
Moogish muddy mellishush mispspelled, are the words that i think of when i think prime GD keys.
Keys a cross the board frankly.
the digital sound craze in this time perticular time period provokes me for some reason.
overplayed and glamorous, dont like it.

One of my favorite Dancing In The Streets!
This was THE year for that song. Check out 11-9-79, Dancing>Frank. It will blow your mind🎉
Brent is just melting face 39:45 - 40:10 , holy smokes
@JBScott-fx3it for real brother, that cape cod show is an all time killer
My goodness, that Fire was SMOKIN'! No pun intended. I think the younger folks would refer to that as, "A REAL SMOKER."
This is a great show. The Dead always played extra well in Charlie Parker's hometown.
Also, thank you Hunter Seamons for curating this recording as close as tape and ingenuity can get to just exactly perfect (and the notes) -- and LostMyDayJob for putting it out here.
Дэды на высоте слушаю с наслаждением и настольгией по старым добрым временам по обоим сторонам океана просто сижу мечтаю вспоминаю свою жизнь жаль родителей нет с нами

Jesus, what a barnburner this was.
His spurs were dingling?
Is this the newest TRIX?
Yep! Hunter posted it about 10 days ago. Nice timing as a companion to the latest Dave's Picks release from the night before. Honestly this one sounds better for my money.
Should have never got rid of Donna
