85 is one of the best Dead years hands down, the sound they had was very acid , jerry was cleaning up slowlty and giving signs of getting better than in 83 or 84 , and love Healy fucking up with Bobbys vocals . Jerrys voice still a bit weak but bneyyer than the years before

IWT We were at the very top of the hill past the 3rd time delayed PA in the sweet spot where the sound came together and during Phil's Truckin E Bombs the entire mountain shook. That nite was absolute magic.

Wonder how that instrumentation on Stealin' worked out - Jerry is pretty clearly playing the banjo, Phil's on bass - so that leaves the two Bobs to choose between acoustic guitar and mandolin - an instrument I don't think I've seen either man play live or on a released recording 😅

For the earliest known That's It For The Other One, it's incredibly strong! Especially the ending Cryptical Envelopment, that is really close to early 1969 ferocity. You can tell they were really having fun with this at rehearsals. Can't wait to check the November 1966 Viola Lee on the other release. Thanks so much for putting these up here; I don't visit the Archive daily, weekly, or monthly now, but RUclips's algorithm got me good here.

You know - there was a time when I was an absolute Jimmy Herring fanatic, having grown up in Birmingham, AL. When I was in college the Col and ARU was playing here, nearby, ATL, etc most every weekend. I have a massive amount of ARU and other Jimmy Herring related bootlegs on a drive. This was back before streaming took off and Pre-panic, and I was determined to collect every last recording. There are two recordings that no one else in the world had from atlanta, because my friend Deepesh made them. I loaned them to someone (who I won't mention) way back in mid 2000's and never saw them again... that's the way it goes... So thanks!
