I was really surprised how much cutting power (and torque) this saw had out of the box. I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ruclips.net/user/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
Nice glad you found it useful thanks for the comment
Great tip! On an interior job I split a Dixie cup and added it to the mouth of my Dewalt non-slider. It was a significant improvement but I'm sure this tape hack will be much more effective. I will copy your method tomorrow. Thanks!
That’s a great idea thanks for watching
That cup idea sounds pretty good as well!
Firstly, many thanks!
Just wondering how, exactly, you get your tools to turn on simultaneously?
Brilliant, but beyond me!
It’s a relay plug. There’s a link to them on Amazon in the description of that very video. Thanks for watching. Happy Woodworking to you.
Just added this to my makita compound miter saw which had a miserable little chute and it increased the collection exponentially, thanks,
Nice man awesome thanks for watching it mean a lot
Added this to my little Ryobi P553 18v. BIG help. Added adapters, hose and small cyclone to shop vac and BOOM, Very little dust flying around ! Great idea....THX.....
I can't NOT say this and please, PLEASE know that I mean absolutely no offense when I do... this is TOTAL tweaker shit and I LOVE IT!!
Brilliant! It's the Red Green solution to sawdust, I love it!
Right on
This idea worked better than many others, good thinking. And way cheaper, thanks.
Right on thanks
Simplest, most straightforward miter saw dust catcher I've seen. I'm going to try adapting it to my SCMS. Thanks, Stoner!
Glad to help thanks for watching by the way it means a lot
Excellent; simple, practical. Thank you for helping!
Thatnsk for watching
I did this with my Kobalt 12” sliding miter saw. Amazingly effective! Almost all the dust into the vacuum instead of the other side of the garage.
That’s awesome
Great fix! Tried it and it worked great. Catches 95% or more of the dust. I taped in a thin wire about an 1" up from end to help it keep its shape. Thanks.
Sweet great idea with wire thanks for watching it means a lot
Great simplicity and economy of both time and money. Perfect for hobbiest woodworker. Thanks!
Sweet thanks for the nice comment
Home Made Dust Shoe!?! What in the What!?! Great Idea BrothaFukka!
Excellent idea! Plus, easily added at any point, anywhere, and replaceable. Damn. Thanks!
Sweet thanks for watching means a lot
Best miter cabinet I've ever seen. I'm jealous!
It was that guy from fix this build that where I got it from thanks for washing it means a lot
I love the mobility of the cart.
Thanks on nice days I take it outside thanks for watching means a lot
I'm trying to add your tape mouth to a very effective after-market dust boot I got from Shop Nation. (I had to modify it a bit, as S.N. has not yet released a version for my older Dewalt DW706 non-sliders.) Question: With your tape mouth as large as shown in this video, do you find you can still make the full range of possible bevel and miter cuts without the tape being deformed by contact with the fence and pushed into the blade?
As a trim carpenter, I need to have access to the full range of compound angular cuts. So far, it seems like I can get an almost perfect result with 90 degree crosscuts, but if I trim the S.N. rubber flaps enough to assure no contact with the blade at all angles, some of the dust must be allowed to escape collection. One hack I've found is to open up the saw's split fence when making such non-90 cuts so that the flap avoids most contact with the fence. I'm wondering if the tape you used has proved both flexible and resilient enough to avoid the blade, yet bounce back to its orginal shape after contact with the fence. Thanks again for a very useful post.
Yes, I’ve got full range of motion with mine. Someone else commented that they used a plastic cup and cut it up to fit in there and tape it up. I thought that was a great idea. Thanks for watching. Happy Woodworking to you.
i used a youtube video that used a piece of inner tube and magnets. works perfect.
Game changer for me - thanks for posting this video!
Hell ya thanks for watching happy woodworking to you
Great hack! I was nearly ready to spend $50 on another product! I'll definitely try this first!
Sweet, glad to help. Thanks for watching. Happy Woodworking.👍
You are brilliant!🤓🎯
Wow, what a nice comment. Thank you for watching. Happy Woodworking for.
Yup- works really good actually lol thank u sir- I installed this last week and could not be happier w it - cut dust way down and soooo simple lol
Right on man it’s fun to make these videos and great when you get good comments thanks for watching
That Gorilla tape works wonders & I created a new dust chute for my Delta Cruzer 12 & Rigid table saw.
That’s awesome
Great hack buddy!! Totally going to add this to my miter saw!!
Sweet let me know how it goes thanks for watching
BTDT, I built a workbench that houses chop saw, band saw, drill press, and surface planer. Each of these tools are mounted to hinged plywood platforms which rotated up out of the workbench when in use but fold down inside the workbench and are concealed beneath the bench top by their own 180 degree hinged lids. I also constructed a plenum with 6 blast gates which connect to each of the above 4 tools and to my table saw and router table which are at the end of the workbench and acts as outfeed table for them. My plenum vac line, since my 10 x 20 work space is raised off the ground, runs under the floor eliminating the trip hazard. Coming back up through the floor, the vac hose is connected to my Dust Deputy which is in turn connected to my Rigid shop vac. All my tools are connected to a multi plug which is connected to the same auto turn on/off switch enabling vac power to suction dust from every tool the blast gate is open to. I also installed a vac bag insude my vac and a micro particulate sock over my pleated filter. On the vac bag I installed a clean out by cutting one end of the bag off and using a 1/2" pvc pipe slit lengthwise into which the vac bag end was double folded and threaded into the pvc slot, closing the bag and eliminating constant replacement of the vac bags. I learned this trick on YT.
Hell ya sound like a hell of a set up nice work got any pics
I have several but being cell phone illegetimate, or is that illiterate, i cant get my pix off my clipboard and onto this reply. The build of the plenum consists of two rows of diy blast gates with three bg's mounted sise by side on the top of an inverted open plywood box. The open side is down and a Powertek attachment to enable sweeping your debris into mounted, vac fitting down, to the open bottom of the box. This forms like a funnel to pass the debris into the vac hose going to the Dust Deputy. The plenum is mounted free standing above the floor so that if need be, I can disconnect all the bg's hoses and the vac hose at the bottom for any bkockage that might clog up the plenum.
My benchtop tools, as I said are individually mounted to 3/4" plywood boards which are mounted by 3" door hinges to my workbench frame. I used triangular plywood supports hinged to the framework so that by swinging them 90 or so degrees they will support the plywood mounted tools but can be swung out of the way so that the tool can pivot into the workbench. I have a hinged 3/4" lid that covers each tool individually. The hinges for the lids are counter sunk 180 degree hinges so that the lids lay flat over the opposing tool lid. My drill press and miter saw are on one side of my bench, my bandsaw, surface planer, and access port for the plenum on the other side. I figured I would possibly be using my tablr saw but not it and any of the other tools at the same time. Opening a lid, rotating up a tool, swinging it's support under it and opening that tool's blast gate takes about a minute each tool. Easy breezy.
Black Tape Is The BEST Tape! Looks great, like it came on the choppy, they should contact you and license your sweet upgrade!
Duck tape! My man!! Thank you! It’s cheap and will hopefully work enough for what I need. 🙏
Oh so cool glad u liked it thanks for watching means a lot 👍
Great idea my friend. Thanks. I’ll do it. 👍👍
Nice
So I did this a couple years ago and it worked great... For... A while. Every now and then the duct tape would snag the blade and it slowly started to chip away at it. I redid it 3 times.. and gave up. Yours still going strong?
Yep it’s is still kicking butt
I’m diggin it Bud. Nice idea on the fly as well.
Thanks for sharing, this dust collector is something I will add to my saw....
Sweet as all ways thank for watching man really appreciate the feed back
I LOVE my Dewalt Miter saw, but the dust is off the chain - this simple hack increased the dust collection 100% - GREAT Tip!
Great thanks for watching means a lot
What is the link for the relay please. Also love that idea and will adapt that to my saw and try it out
amzn.to/3t2qh52
Love the idea I'm going to try it tomorrow after I do Easter egg hunt my son wants to help me and btw that mitre table is awsome I been thinking of a cost effective way to build an extension and I'm also going to make mine the same as you have great job, I'm a single father of 2 but trying to start making a living from doing woodworking
Awesome! Thank you! You can do it man let me know if there is anything I can do to help happy Woodworking .
Thanks for the video, good job!
Thanks for watching
Also wrap Paper Towel 🧻 x3 layers around your shopvac filter and now you only change the paper towel and never have to clean the filter.
That’s a great idea
Where did you say that you found the plans for this miter saw bench?? I've been looking at all sorts of plans and I really like the way yours works.
Fix this build that is the name of the channel
It work really well thanks for watching
@@StonerEricson Appreciate it! Thank you.
Hack is great!!!!! I am curious about the painting behind you that looks similar to a Picasso if not a Picasso. Do you have any info on it?
Good catch it was painted by an artist out of DC
@@StonerEricson Thanks, I love it!!! I'm learning a lot from your videos.
Thanks for a great video. Your mitre saw did the black rubber u shaped piece that you put the gorilla tape on come with the saw?
Your idea for the mitre saw has a much smaller footprint that many others I've seen. Thanks again
Ya mine did come with that yours should have something there to build ur tape boot thank you for watching means a lot happy woodworking
@Stoner Ericson . Thanks for replying so fast. On closer inspection my 12"Dewalt mitre saw has a smaller shoe. I happen to have gorilla tape on hand. I might use inner tube and tape. Thanks again. Awesome videos. I'm subscribing now
Hey Stoner do you have an idea for a worm drive circular saw dust collection system that allows the blade guard to be used? I've seen some designs but the guard isn't used. Kinda not too safe. Thanks
@@nickferrence8593 great question first let me ask is it in the shop or out in the field? I just pulled out my rigid worm saw direct drive. I’ll start working on it but mainly, I use my battery powered circular saw and I’ve actually taken the blade guard off of that because it always gets in the way not safe on my side ☹️ let me see what I can come up with. Thanks again for your comment means a lot. U kinda make RUclips worth doing 👍
@Stoner Ericson I would only use a dust collection system in the garage not outside. Outside I'd probably use a mask/respirator. I've been carefully watching where the sawdust comes from my worm drive saw. Small particles from the front and larger from the rear of the blade. Thanks for the kind words. I just found your channel 3 days ago and find it very informative. It's nice you reply quickly not 8 months later. It's a nice way of sharing what everyone is doing online in woodworking. I noticed a fair amount of dust when I was cutting an Acacia countertop 1.5 inches thick.
Cheers
Love your style brother…keep it up, 👌
Hell yeah thanks for the comment man means a lot
Good idea!
This looks like a great idea. I’m goin to give it a go. Looks like it could be easier if you take the chute off the saw to add the tape maybe? 🤔
You mite be right let me know 😊
Link for relay?
Nice work!
Thanks and thanks for watching means a lot
Thanks for sharing
Nice idea but so much easier to do if you simply remove the blade first! Your method is a good way to scratch your hand on the blade.
Great thanks for watching
super idea👏👏👏
how has that rigid 10 inch miter held up for you?
Ok it’s not the best but it works
@@StonerEricson accuracy problems?

How did you reduce your dust port from your jointer to fit the vacuum hose?
Rockler makes a 4 inch to 2 inch adapter but I just used a PVC fitting 4 inch to 2 inch and then I taped my hose up a little bit with duct tape to make a fit now I have it to 4 inch to 4 inch because I have the dust right desk collection system and it works awesome
Thanks.

Never underestimate a man with a roll of duct tape…..or gorilla tape… nice hack 👍
You are right
you keep calling you cyclone tops dust deputy. they are not, they are home depot dustopper.
Yeah, there’s a Home Depot dustopper
Dude, just say, “Sorry, i misspoke. You are correct.” Oneida Dust Deputy Low Pros are transparent with blue components. All of the units you’re showing on camera are orange. Don’t be lazy and wrong; take down the video, do one that is correct and repost. You’re supposed to be giving advice - supposedly. Don’t want to do it correctly? Then don’t do it at all. Or better yet; do what you want but show respect to those who correct your inaccurate information.
You sir are a god damn MacGyver of the miter. Shark tank worthy all day
Hahha that’s awesome
subd do you have any new content coming?
Yes I do
I thought I came up with this! 😅
You mite have great minds think a like 👍 thanks for watching by the way means a lot
@@StonerEricson I used gorilla tape too, but I also used a piece of a cereal box part of the way for rigidity. I’ve done it on a Delta and a Dewalt. Tried to help a friend do it on a metabo. It doesn’t work great on metabo.
👌🌹
On the downcut the first bit of dust goes into the chute ok then after about 1-3 secs later you see a squirt of dust coming out the back of the saw below the chute…. I can only assume that this is from when the blade exits below the piece and the dust is transmitted under the piece towards the rear but not into the chute (pity as it’s a great idea…….)
Stinks that saw manufacturers can still get away with 1980 dust collection concepts. And we keep buying them…..
Sigh.
Check out my other desk collection video on the saw. I put a basket underneath of it with for that collection solve that problem. Thanks for watching. Happy Woodworking.
So is ur name actually “Stoner” or u like to smoke weed?? lol I mean I’m not judging I promise- just curious 🤣
