    Great tutorial! For other folks who's window is stuck down. You will need to remove the window regulator motor that's held with 3 screws. Once that is done and the speaker is removed, you can then push the glass up with your hand through the speaker hole to access the window's two mount bolts.
    I'm pretty sure almost everyone looking to change their window regulator is due to the window not moving up or down with the switch and only hears a grinding noise. For some reason, all of the DIY videos posted, assumes the window works fine and don't go over this needed step. Hope this helps others.

      @@toadwilliam545 if you're in the process of removing the door panel to get to the window regulator as shown in video, you then have to remove the regulator motor to move the window by hand through the speaker hole

      @@Roy-he6dk hopefully you reply. but on another video they mention the air bag sensor on the regulator panel. im assuming that just needs to be unscrewed and placed on the new regulator panel?

      From what I recall that is correct. Just make sure your battery is disconnected.

    Best and most comprehensive video guide on how to remove the inner door panel on a Kia Optima. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. If the door is still on the car though and with the forces of gravity on the glass applied would it be relatively easy to get the window back in position when you're mounting everything back up?

    • @domaleons
      @domaleons  6 лет назад

      trinigerman Yes it should be easy. Just do the same procedure when taking the window out, just line up the mounting holes of the window to the regulator through the holes of the regulator.

    Is it possible to put a bolt or something in here somewhere to just keep the window permanently in the up position and then put everything back together?
    Our 2016 Kia optima window regulators keep going out one by one (3rd one just went out) and we are tired of paying $150 every time for a replacement. The gear attached to the regulator that the motor gear goes into keeps cracking into pieces.

      The motor is attached to the regulator. It works with the cables to move the window up and down. Just change the whole regulator out and you should be fine.

      Abdullah Arif khan I had to replace the regulator I have a friend that works at a Kia dealership so I got it at cost there was no was to fix the old one but I would recommend seeing what condition yours is in before purchasing a new one because they can be fixed if the cable just let go from the motor

    How did you decipher between a motor issue vs a regulator issue? I have a 2014 Sorento and the button is stuck in the down position....please respond if you can. Of course it's the driver's side window and it's fixing to rain. lol. UGH

    • @domaleons
      @domaleons  6 лет назад

      Idk. My issue was to change the windows because they were tinted. And also to paint the doors it's better and easier for me to take everything out and get it out the way rather than mask it up.

    • @waspnest3685
      @waspnest3685 6 лет назад

      Being a newer model chances are you better off replacing the whole thing new or used because half the time you won't know until you actually pull it. Good tell tale sign it's the regulator is if u hear the motor work both ways and little windows movement. Otherwise hearing the motor trying to work not doing anything else is removal to see

    Ford want over £400 for the just the regulator and motor. Breakers yard here they have second hand one for £40. You know where I am getting the regulator from don't you?
    Ford obviously have no intention of selling them. I think they did the price because they take into consideration that they really dont want to sell them. Has to be linked to British law about if you want to manufacture cars for sale to British public you have to be able to supply the spare parts for those cars for 10 years. So they overprice those parts a few years down the road from when the car was new, and in doing so dont sell many if any. By doing this so they dont have to restock from their suppliers who cant provide them anymore anyway.
    Sly and devious but true. Makes a mockery of British law.
