• Thank for Watching! •
As someone who is indigenous, I love when people add the war paint on horse figures and its so pretty. The red handprint is so beautiful and honestly this custom makes me think of the MMIW movement and this is just breathtaking.
"l'm not a very good face sculptor" sculpts the most expressive eye and nose on a model horse
He’s gotta be my favorite custom of yours ever! You’re such a talented artist and it’s so interesting to see the whole process!
A tip to help prevent one side from looking really nice and the other looking awkward is to do both sides at the same time. It can be a little frustrating at the start, but it helps so much I promise.
If you work on one hip, work on the other at the same time. Always do the face as a whole or split it top/bottom if need be, the face will look much better and you are less likely to end up with a wonky donkey.
My teacher gave me this tip and it changed my world. I found it a lost easier to keep my sculptures even and consistent. Seriously, I can't go back because it feels so weird now.
This is very good advice.
Very interesting to see your process of creating him! He is a lovely model! Great work!
2nd Place is no 'chopped liver'! That's awesome. Denali is beautiful! I appreciate the Native American heritage as well. My old style Breyer Indian Pony is a beloved model that I've had since I was around 8 or 9 (I'm 58). Great job and thanks for sharing your process.
Oh, he's stunning!! I've been waiting for another video on you doing a dramatic model change, and this came along on a rather hard day. I think your dramatic model remodels are my favorite videos to watch! Thank you for sharing!
I hope you did research on these things to make sure he isn't cultural appropriation (not assuming or trying to cancel you don't worry)
I just want everyone to know that when you do art based on a real culture, do your research on them.
Infact spirit did such amazing research on the Lakota tribe, many many things are accurate to the real culture, right down to the circle around the eyes on their horses.
First off Congratulations on your win!🥳🎉 All that hard work and talent was recognized! So rewarding. Second stop telling yourself negatives about how you do faces and legs- we are taught when we do that we are basically programming ourselves to those words. I have been a sculptor for 40 years and the person who suggested working the face as a whole is correct. Turning the sculpture a bit every few minutes but I know that is really hard when you are working off 2-d photos and not a real horse. There must be a way to do the rotations digitally. Anyway it helps you see the face in 3-d when you keep turning it. But you do what works for you. Congratulations again! Beautiful work!!!💜
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your comment & expertise. I try not to feed myself negative words; but I am realistic about my abilities; in which I hope represents an authentic video for those starting out. We won’t love everything we make, but we must love some... in order to be successful. I love Denali & how he turned out. But I also recognize my weaknesses where I need to focus on for the next piece. It’s a learning process for every sculpture. But I am so proud of him. He is displayed confidently in my living room. ❣️
I own my own buckskin horse and they are absolutely beautiful! As soon as I saw his sticker I bought it right away! He is such a stunner! I wish he could become an actual model to buy! Amazing job! you are very inspiring!
Such a stunning model! It's amazing how I can get from this video a perfect lesson in dappling without it even being a tutorial. Congrats on getting 2nd place! You deserve it! :D
Please could you do a schleich custom horse!
He's gorgeous!, My name sounds so similar to his, mine is Denai
23:04 I swear Denali looks like he is one with the background.
I don’t know who took first, but it had to have been ultra impressive given how gorgeous Denali is!
It was a galloping horse. I like this one better tbh.
It’s so crazy to think that inside that beautiful model there are toilet paper rolls holding him together😅
You post this after I just finished my first custom 😂 would have been very helpful but now my second will be fabulous
You did an amazing job with him! He was definitely one of my favorites! I know your work will get better and better!
HEelo DeeJayBe! You are amazing at your craft. I am starting my first project to repaint a breyer model. I need to sand the horse before I primer him for paint. What do you recommend using for sanding that will not compromise the plastic of the model ? Also do you have any videos with instruction about painting the eyes? Thank you so much!
Denali is so cool! That was awesome seeing how you made him!
Hi, can I ask where do you buy the models? I would like to try it too!
I'm awake it to the horse and also George Washington. He's my uncle and also I love your voice so clear
Do you do custom horses? I would pay so much to have my horse made into a breyer but I don’t wanna do it on the other breyer thing I would want you to do it
You done an amazing job on him.
I can't believe you did not get a first place but 2nd is such an accomplishment! He is absolutely gorgeous! ❤
I had to giggle when you said your horse was moving all over. Just a few weeks ago I asked a gal to trace clip my horse. Well, he wasn’t so cooperative. Each time she tried to clip a straight line he’d move & the straight line would be all crooked. He was such a annoying boy he ended up getting completely body clipped to even up the lines. So Dinali was doing what horses do slowly pick at you tell you find a solution.
So nice
The work that went into this would've broke me mentally. Completely insane the amount of talent you have!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely stunning, Great job! I watched the whole 25 minute long video and definitely learned a lot! Thanks! 😁
He looks just like my horse in the spring except my horse has 4 white stockings. I’m so going to try this.
Wow! Fantastic model, brilliant paint work, a beautiful horse is Denali.
Thanks so much for sharing. Your perseverance really paid off. Your work, and this piece, are phenomenal and I can't wait to see future works of art! I'm really happy to see your contributions to the hobby.
I would personally love more of a tutorial on how you get from blobby shapes for manes/tails with the initial application of epoxy to the detail sculpting. I am not a sculptor/don't sell my work, but I do futz around and this is the part that just baffles me! You do such a lovely job. Again, thanks for sharing.
Edited to add: ah, I see I need to look further in your video history. ;)
I really enjoyed the video, it´s a big motivation & reminder to just keep going. Denali is awesome!
to help with the off side, dont put all of the flashy markings on one side and (for war paint) put it on to sides.hes a amazing horse i love your work
Love these videos ❤️
This is pure talent, I love this so much!! It’s so cool seeing the process of this.. 💕
I love videos where you can see the process and not just end results
So fascinating
I liked this better than the one that won...
0:09 that pic is amazing😮
One can only wonder why youd pick the indian pony when wyatt or smarty would potentially work too? Perhaps it was just what was to hand i suppose?
The nature of the Best Customs Contest is that you must create the most ‘Extreme’ custom for that Division. So starting with an Indian Pony makes a very drastic change.
Oh my gosh…
He is beautiful!!!:0000
I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE MY WORK!!
I’m still learning how to make customs
I paint them I don’t remake models
I guess I love pintos even tho I love
Appaloosas
But I don’t think I have enough to patience to paint tiny little spots 😂 I loved watching the progress
He is stunning!!!!^^
Hi! This is just incredible, and very inspirational! I just have one question about the clay you’re using! I see that the final product is hardened like plastic as though it were a legitimate breyer and able to be painted as so. I use air drying clay which just isn’t good enough, I’m looking for an alternative without having to make silicone moulds if possible. Is that just a quality of the clay you are using or are their extra steps in making that clay as hard as possible?
Just use Apoxie Sculpt, Magic Sculpt or Milliput - 2 part resin clays. They harden like in this video. Links in the description.
Ahhh! Thank you so much for your time ❣️
I would LOVE a video process of this.
Explaining and photos is okay but I would love to hear your voice over a video and seeing you do the process.
It's enjoyable to watch.
The dapples give me a bit of Try-phobia vibes- but OMG I’m ✨speechless✨! He’s SO pretty!!!!😍😍
He’s B e a u t i f u l
This is marvelous. I have up model horses years ago, yet somehow this video popped up in my recommendations. I watched the whole thing, loved every bit of it. You're really talented, keep up the good work!
I lover your video, which model got the first place?
www.breyerhorses.com/blogs/breyerfest-blog/best-customs-winners
Wow,great job! I need to see details of how you do a face, eyes in particular. Do you have such a video?
What a gorgeous custom⭐
Absolutely phenomenal…….thank you for sharing your process with this amazing guy, it’s quite inspirational💜
Omg he is stunning 😍
Congratulations on your award. Thank you for making this video.
I love videos similar to these. I love seeing the sanding and processing of a piece of art. Tutorials if you will. Makes me want to try as well. I used to love horses a lot as a kid. I would practice drawing and shading them when I was first starting art. I turned to digital art but I also like to sculpt and haven't for a while. I can't wait to see more from you. This and the Fjord video, I believe, are my favorites besides the one where you did the stylized horse sculpt. God bless you all and your home.
i love it
What a great video. Thank you for sharing, Denali is simply stunning! You are truly gifted and I can't wait to see what you create next!
You are so amazingly talented. Love watching your videos!
This was very interesting, and not at all like I thought they were made. Great job.
I only hope to make one this beautiful!!! Congrats on the placing!
Hes beautiful, those dapples are perfect!
Hl
Idk why but I saw the name as denial and now I have the idea of 7 deadly sins but for horses
DAPPLE BUCKSKIN?!?! AAAH, SO PRETTY!
You did Awesome!! One thing on the eye you should make it more round but I know it's hard but good job!
i used to be obsessed with these, and my friend had like 100 and she never let me play with them
Wow. I would never have thought that's the indian pony :)
Oh he is absolutely stunning, I adore him!
This was very fun to watch the process of Denali
Have you thought of casting him in resting? It wouldn't take much to have him 3D scanned and then a prototype printed. You could then clean the prototype and submit it to say, Resins by Randy to be cast in resin. He would make a stunning resin! I know I'd love to have a copy of him for the Model Horse Museum! He'd be stunning in one of my roan leopard Appaloosa colors.....
Since he was a custom Breyer to begin with, he is not to be replicated & cast. Only true original sculptures should be casted for resale.
I really love these videos please do more of these videos
That is a very stunning Model, I love it so much!
Do you do customs for others? My horse died and I would love to get one made of her.

@@DeeJayBeStudios thank you so much !
Really love the pose. Did this guy win? Because I remember him in the Facebook feeds as a finalist.
He placed 2nd
Absolutely stunning great job jet again!
That outdoor photo at the end makes it all worth it!
I honestly thought that he should of won!
Great work on Denali! :)
Absolutely beautiful 🥰
Yoooooo this is so cool. Look so real
He is gorgeous, well done.
He is so Beautiful 😍
I'd buy it if I could!
Very fine work!
You are the best!
Do you have Brick and Morder Stele?
The wyatt right?
Amazing 👏
How you Even make dis?
It’s a beautiful model but those dapples are so geometric and perfectly sized that they look like polka dots.
If you were to ever sell him how much would he cost?
I’m very curious because if I created something this astonishing it wouldn’t leave for a million dollars lol
I don’t think I will ever sell this one. He is priceless to me :)
What I find funny is in the uk som people pronounce Breyer as Brey-er like 2 syllables instead of one
Do you sell your customs?
