I really enjoyed this video since it talked about the two differences between the cities and the pros and cons. Quite interesting and educational. I have loved my Prescott visits but never have visited Nashville. I only passed through there in 1982 in the late summer on my way to Knoxville for the World's Fair. And yes, it was pouring rain in Nashville on that Monday afternoon but my parents visited there in the spring of 1976 and the weather was gorgeous with no humidity and bugs flying around. I know of two families here in Albuquerque who moved to northern Tennessee and I hope they did their homework about the weather differences there compared to here before they left here. There are also severe weather concerns to be aware of in Tennessee along with all of the heat, humidity, rain and allergy concerns as mentioned in this video. At least, Prescott has more temperate weather than that which is a HUGE plus and does NOT get all the heat like what Phoenix gets! 😎
That is so true, Doug! I am so glad I was able to convey what I experienced living in both places. Sooooooo much to love about Nashville and Tennessee in general, but I can't deny the love I have for the climate here in Prescott and the history and allure of the "Wild West". I also love to hear your take on these places and experiences that people have had. I hesitated to make this video just due to time constraints, but I'm so glad I did. I've heard from so many who have appreciated my perspective on living in both places and I sure hope it's helped people if they're considering moves to either one. I know I have friends who LOVE the humidity and prefer it over a dry climate. So it's really all in what your preference is and gathering information to make the best decision for you or your family. I hope you have a wonderful day and THANK YOU for your awesome input on this video!
@@heyprescott Thank you for your kind words about my comments. Much appreciated! Saw a video from Nashville today on Weather Nation and it was pouring rain in that city today. I know you mentioned about all the rain they get there which I was not aware of. I HATE humidity but I also HATE the dry air here in New Mexico that we get most of the year other than the monsoon season when it does get humid. I moved to Albuquerque but living at 5,000' here in the valley is NOT fun with all the pollens in the air that I did not have to deal with back in San Jose, CA. which is my hometown and where I lived for almost 60 years. After being here for just a couple of years, I found myself HIGHLY allergic to the VERY toxic male juniper tree pollen that we did not have at the lower elevation in San Jose. And so I have to use inhalers and nasal sprays for as long as I live here to protect myself and I think Prescott also has these trees in the area along with the Ponderosa Pines there. And so I want to warn anyone moving to a higher elevation city like Prescott that you might find yourself HIGHLY allergic to one or more pollens that you were not allergic to at your former city at a lower elevation. Just another thing to consider before planning a move to a higher elevation. I found out the hard way after moving here. (I had asthma as a kid in San Jose and thought I permanently had outgrew it as an adult until I moved here and have dealt with the respiratory issues.)
Very nice video and thanks for sharing! I first visited Prescott in 1979 to visit my former CA. neighbors who moved there in the 1960's. I LOVED my visit and was once considering a move there years later but for various reasons, I felt that Prescott would not be a place to retire in as I found more cons than pros for me. But it is a GREAT place for a visit! 😎
@@heyprescott You are very welcome! Your video about the two cities was VERY thorough and well-balanced with pro and con thoughts about both cities! Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom which were quite helpful.
My daughter moved to Prescott Valley from CA a couple years ago. We would like to move to Prescott, but the housing prices are absolutely outrageous. No way are we going to be able to afford a house there. We live in CA but our house selling at top dollar won't bring enough money to purchase a similar house in Prescott. I don't know why they say AZ is affordable because Prescott certainly is not. Just looked at a house online today that was $399,000. It was 1 bedroom and 450 sq ft. Unbelievable.
Thank you for your comment! We have a 3 bedroom 2 bath coming on the market in Prescott Valley next week for $299,000. Would you like for me to send you the listing when it goes live? I’m happy to help you find something affordable in your price range. $399,000 for 450 square feet that you mentioned seems odd. Would you mind sending us the address?
@@heyprescott Hi. Thanks for the reply. Here is the address: 118 San Carlos Rd, Prescott, AZ 86303. We like that area, but that is far too much money for such a small home. We are looking to move to Prescott when we retire, as we don't prefer Prescott Valley. We currently live in the mountains and would like to stay in that environment. Prescott is pretty close although it is 1000 ft lower than where we are now and a lot bigger. But that is ok because after 30 years we are getting tired of driving 50 to 60 miles to get to stores and medical care. My daughter and her husband have purchased 2 acres in PV to eventually build a house, but they currently cannot do that as they just got a price of $400 per square foot to build, so they are staying in their rental house for now. We were hoping to find something we could pay cash for and have a little left over, but everything we find under half a million needs, massive remodeling. Ex: We looked at these 2 homes when we were out there in Oct. 244 S Washington Ave, Prescott, AZ 86303 716 W Maricopa Dr, Prescott, AZ 86303 Both needed a lot of work. The second one looked nice on the inside but needed a new roof, all new windows, a garage etc. The first one needs a total remodel. We also looked at Pine Lakes as an alternative but their space rent is over $1000 per month now and the homes are packed very tightly in there. My husband does not like tract homes so that narrows the field, I know. Thanks for taking the time to chat to me.
@@cackleberrycottage2340 Thank you for your response! It looks like the San Carlos property is on quite a bit of land located in a prime area near downtown Prescott, so the price with the renovations and the quarter acre of land makes sense. Have you tried looking a little further out? I did know that about Pine Lakes. I would love to help you find something as things come on the market. Please call me if you get a chance. 928-848-0008. The great thing about Arizona is that many families benefit from their ESA scholarship program. Here’s a little more information on what that is. One of the wonderful things we do here is support the fine arts. Every Christmas time, we celebrate "Acker Night" where the merchants downtown open up their shops and bring in musicians to seranade the public, seeking donations to fund the arts. Prescott schools teach students to play instruments and sing. The high school Chorale grop has been invited to Carnegie hall, the marching band to Pearl Harbor, and the high school even has a string orchestra. Again, all funded by donations, not taxes. The school district claims the highest rating of public schools in the state.
Living here in Prescott Valley you will get a lot more house for the money … and it’s only about 20 minutes to Prescott Town. Low, low crime, not a lot of shopping but who cares anymore. Grocery stores abound, a big town entertainment center, lakes and lots iof wide open spaces! I love looking out at Minkus Mountain every day from my back yard. Quiet and little traffic. Cost of living about 22% less than Prescott. You will want to go Phoenix for your hospital needs if you need, the one here is AWFUL. Doctors are in short supply but you will eventually find one. Being on Medicare is not a problem. Lots of dentists!
