Thanks Allan, I actually had the fixture in 5 channel mode. Changing to 4 channel mode allowed everything to work perfectly. I also used everything at my last two events, one wifi and one DMX, and both were flawless. Thanks!
Great video! you mention in it hat if you have a Quad 4 or 3 channel fixture you would need to change or 6 6. what if you have the freedom Par rgba? What would the channel be changed to?
Great video and technology. I have some of freedom PARs but I also own a few other wireless lights that I use as well. Is there a way to use the FlareCON for both options? Great video and great products!
Yes, you can connect a DMX cable OUT of the Freedom Pars and go into the "other" lights or you can buy a D-Fi Hub and connect a DMX cable OUT of the D-Fi Hub into the lights as well.
Just got 12 freedom Mini strips love them...will this work the same for THEM? I would like to see a video demo for the mini strips before I purchase the flarecon air....thank you!
Frankie it will work I have. I have freedom pars rgba and rgb but don't follow this tutorial it is right except you don't set it to highest DMX value u actually set it to the lowest and he forgets to mention that u have to set the DMX starting address to 01
Hi Frank, Yes, the FlareCON will work with the Freedom Strips, but your setup instructions on the fixture itself will be a little different. Please refer to the product manual for the Freedom Strips to set each unit into receive mode as well as set them to DMX address 001 and put them into 3-channel mode. That should get them running.
***** Yes, each fixture needs to be set to 001. This comment has been added to the video above so other users don't run into the same barrier. Also note that each fixture must be put into its most basic DMX personality as stated in the video at 2:22. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi Alan, I have Freedom Par Tri 6. and use FlareCon Air to control lights via wifi. I noticed app added many new features I really think would benefit all of us. Is there away for you to demonstrate how to apply and use new features? Thank you
Thank you for the feedback. We already plan on shooting a video talking about some of the updates in the very near future. Stay tuned to all of our social media channels for updates.
These lights have great features.... My only turn off is the actual led wattage. In the manual the hex series are .95 watts each color, and the quad series are 1.25 each color. Not gonna say any names, but there are 3 watt RGBWA-UV fixtures out there for the same price.
stevempro331 Hello Steve, you said it yourself, "These lights have great features". You are correct about your wattage claim. now look at the other feature the Freedom has that that brand does not. There are many however, I believe durability is a must, I will drop the Freedom from 4 feet, will you drop the other light from 4 feet?
Can I use the FlareCon to facilitate wireless Master/Slave, and if so can I control the master with the remote to utilize the advanced functions of the light in synchronicity until the new software comes out with those upgrades?
Foreman Productions At this time Master slave mode can be controlled via the Included IRC-6 remote control. We are currently working on a new version of the FlareCON app that will give you access to the auto-programs built in the the fixtures. If using the IRC-6 you can use 1 unit as the master and slave the rest of your freedoms so you only have to aim the remote at your master unit and all other will follow your commands.
One thing that NONE of all of the videos that I have watched so far discuss, is using the FlareCON application to control multiple fixtures at DIFFERENT DMX addresses, so that you could control fixtures independent of each other. Can this be done?
Wi-Fi is the method your personal device I.E. phone or tablet communicates with the FlareCON. The FlareCON transmits a Wireless DMX signal, in the case of the FlareCON it’s Chauvet’s D-Fi. If a competitors brand can respond to on the 16 2.4gHz frequencies it will control them, however most forms of wireless DMX have proprietary frequencies. True WDMX is the only true universal wireless DMX protocol. So technically speaking the FlareCON will not control ANY Wi-Fi controlled lighting. You can still control any other brand of wireless light by adding a wired connection into the system. Here are some examples on how to do it. Cable DMX signal out of a D-Fi unit or FlareCON to anther brand of lighting and transmit wirelessly from that unit to other units of the same brand. Another way would be to receive the D-Fi signal to a D-Fi HUB that is connected to a another brands light and once again use that light to transmit their wireless signal out to the rest of that brands units. One way or another you can make all brands of wireless work together with the FlareCON, but you will have to use at least one wired connection to make it happen.
Here's another alternative as well. For example, I have 10 CubeEcho lights from Eternal Lighting (RGBAW+UV). I can connect the FlareCON DMX out to my XT-Mitter Pro 3. The XT-Mitter transmits a signal to all of my lights.
If I want to use the same iPad to control lighting and music (pandora, etc) is there a way to operate both the flarecon air and lights on the buildings wifi network? If I just connect to CHAUVETDJ I will not be able to stream the music in the background.
No, the FlarCON Air uses a self-generated Wi-Fi signal. This allows you to use the FlareCON in areas without any Wi-Fi connectivity, and no need to worry about the local Wi-Fi having too much traffic. For you to use Pandora you would need two devices, one for Pandora and the other for the FlareCON.
Can you post a video of using the FlareCON with an actual DMX controller? I tried hooking up my obey 4 controller to the FlareCON and put the connection in dmx mode and the lights don't respond. I'm using freedom par Quad5's. It works fine using the FlareCON app in wifi mode but I want to use my controller to go through the light programs since the app is so limited. Thanks!
Hi Mike, There are a few other things that need to be setup in order to use your FlareCON Air with a hardwired controller. I suggest you give Chauvet's customer service department a call for some personal attention and walk-thrus.
Hey Allan, Thanks for the reply. I tried customer service but just got voice mails. Can you please help or post a instructional video? I really need help on this for an upcoming show. Thanks in advance!
Mike Stephens Hi Mike, Sorry for your troubles. Please email your contact info to csadmin@chauvetlighting.com and someone will reply to you to get you operational!
Thanks for reaching out. Put the freedom sticks in 8-channel personality and set the correct receive channel per stick that you’re FlareCON Air is sending. Set them all to DMX address 1 and simply select the auto program and speed for your desired effect.
D-Fi is Chauvet's proprietary wireless DMX protocol. Any fixture in our Freedom product line has a built-in D-Fi receiver that receives wireless DMX signal from any D-Fi transmitter (such as the FlareCON Air). We also sell a D-Fi Hub which receives the D-Fi signal and can be plugged into any DMX up light light to make them respond from your phone or tablet.
Check out these videos. If you have anymore questions on how to use the product, please contact our customer service department at: chauvetcs@chauvetlighting.com or (954) 577-4455 option 4. ruclips.net/video/pXQ8zm8DtPk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/MnJj35sX7oQ/видео.html
Allan, I would really like to know how to configure these to work with the Freedom Strip Mini RGBA. Because following your directions here, they don't. Also, Chauvet DJ does NOT show up in the wi-Fi list on my phone. Just "wi-fi test" it connects to my tablet and iPhone when I select it, but the fixtures do not react. 0 for 2 and ready to send this back. Help?
Brian u have to change the starting address to 01 and the DMX value is set to the lowest. I had the same issue finally googled it downloaded the pdf. This tutorial is very very bad and wrong! I just got it figured out about an hour ago after trying everything possible yesterday. Email me if u can't figure it out. Azmixxmasters@gmail.com
Hi Brian, Some models have a default SSID of "WIFI TEST" while some have an SSID of "CHAUVET DJ." Sorry about the confusion. In the future, they will all be "CHAUVET DJ" and please note that you can change this SSID to anything you want (such as your DJ or company name) by clicking the "wrench" icon when connected to the FlareCON Air. Please make sure that all fixtures are addressed to "001" and that the 'INPUT MODE' is set to WIFI and not DMX. That should make it all work for ya. If you're still having trouble, please feel free to contact me here or call Chauvet DJ directly at (800) 762-1084.
On V2 of the app, access to sound mode is now available for all fixtures that are currently in the library. To use sound mode you will need to set the unit to 12 channel mode, and also in the app select the Hex-4 and set the app to 12 channel mode. The app will now display the available functions such as strobe, auto programs and sound active mode as well as set the dimming curve.
Hello! I need help with the Flarecon Air app. I need help with the Show feature to set up a 5 color sequence. May I get a number or email to get help from a Chauvet representative? Thank you!
You can use the FlareCON with any tri, quad or hex-color fixture. If the fixture you are attempting to use doesn't have a D-Fi receiver built in, you will need to purchase the D-Fi Hub and connect it to the fixtures.
Thanks for reaching out. Looks like you'll need to run the Freedom H1 in 12 channel mode to trigger sound activated mode. Feel free to reach out to our customer service team who will be happy to walk you through the steps needed to get this set up using FlareCON. Chauvetcs@chauvetlighting.com or give them a call at (954) 577-4455 option 4
I did. The flarecon was using the wrong software version. I sent it back and Chauvet replaced it with another one using the correct software version. I actually ended up buying another one.
Update your video- the new iPhone app does not look at all like the one on the video. Finding support for the new app has been impossible. Our stage is in the dark! Everything worked wonderfully until you changed the app!
They broke the app the flaircon is worthless now cant get anything to work since the app UPDATE... I found an old ipad that had the gen 1 software on it and it still works great. GIVE ME BACK THE GEN 1 APP on the app store!!!
Allan Reiss I am looking at the lights in this video, which was uploaded August 2nd 2014; two days ago and those lights cannot fit in the palm of any man on earth. If they had smaller lights why wouldn't they show them, instead of these big lights in this video?
Molten Pros The fixture measures 5.5in wide which can easily fit in the palm of my hands. They are about 1/3 the size of the old Freedoms and roughly half the weight. I suggest you visit your local Chauvet distributor to see them in person because I think you'll love 'em!
Allan Reiss I am not blind. These lights are big. I own wireless uplights from another company and they are three times smaller than these. Even thought Chauvet has advanced software to control the lights, they failed when it comes to size. We consumers want smaller lights not big lights like ten years ago. I hope the next series of lights are much smaller.

Very helpful video, thanks. All up and running now.
Great video! Could you do a video with chauvet freedom sticks and the flarecon programming?
You might as well film a new Hex Wash one too!
Thank you Rick. So wireless master/slave can be used without the flarecon?
Great video! you mention in it hat if you have a Quad 4 or 3 channel fixture you would need to change or 6 6. what if you have the freedom Par rgba? What would the channel be changed to?
The profile for the Freedom Par RGBA is built into the app, so just select your fixture [Freedom Par RGBA] from the list.
I have 15 FreedomPar Tri-6 fixtures. Do I create a fixture in the app for each lamp, or do I create one fixture with 15 quantity?
Great video and technology. I have some of freedom PARs but I also own a few other wireless lights that I use as well. Is there a way to use the FlareCON for both options? Great video and great products!

This can be done and is demonstrated in some other FlareCON videos.
How can I change between scenes within a show preset? Is that I can save scenes within a show, not don't know how to access those saved scenes.
